The free AA 4th Step app was created by members for members as a means to enter their 4th Step Inventory information in a secure and convenient way. When complete, you can print out your inventory for use with your 5th Step.

The Vault 4th Step Inventory App allows you to enter your inventory information in a logical step by step way, then saves the information in an inventory spreadsheet that is laid out much like many of the 4th Step guides that you can find on the internet (like Joe and Charlie’s). The difference is that the Vault app lets you work on your 4th step anywhere, anytime that you are free and in a safe place, NOT just when you are free at your home with your notebook. It is Vault Code protected at all times, so whether it is on your nightstand or at the coffee shop, NO ONE can access your inventory but you.
We decided (through much discussion) to minimize all instructions on HOW to do a 4th Step. As alcoholics, we had no shortage of opinions on what each of us believed were the best instructions. We decided to use the original text from the Big Book for the actual questions for you to answer, instead of rewording them as we saw some of the 4th Step "guides" do.
Your sponsor may want you to write out (with pen and paper) your 4th step. If that is the case, you may still utilize the app to collect your inventory information, then after printing it out, copy it over by hand.
This app is not AA reviewed or approved. AA does not endorse or approve anything or anyone. All quotes are from the 1st edition of the Big Book. This app was created by members for members. Makes 4th step simple and easy to do on the go. Character count is limited in each space, so it forces me to keep it simple, just like it's shown in the Big Book. If you love your phone like I do, and you feel obligated to write volumes in each column, yet detest the idea and aren't sure how to fit it all on one page, then I highly recommend this app! Actually, I recommend it regardless!!

The app makes doing step 4 more convenient but it does not explain how to do step 4. Have your Big Book nearby.

Even though I have the reminder off, the app keeps coming up in the notifications. When I did have the reminder on, I couldn't make it turn off until it had gone off several times. And no option for a silent reminder.

LOVE concept of app & overall idea! Dont like if I forget to write something or to abrivate words to make room for my entire answers I have to erase everything prior to mistake or count limits or leave as is & app sends me annoying notifications to my phone every few minutes all day & night even w/o alarm/reminder set up. However, I was able to start my 4th step which I havent been willing/able to do in past...this app is fully worth download just for that purpose...starting & completing your 4th step!

Positives: Very organized and actually guides me through this painful process of looking at myself and my past. Negatives: Can no longer email my inventory to my sponsor. I never thought I'd complete a Fourth step. I've been working on this four two years!!!!! I can complete it thanks to the guidance of this app. It nearly brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for saving my life and my sobriety.

It's a good idea but the character count is WAAAAY too limited. I can't do anything thorough on this app, so I can't rate it any higher. Fix this and I'll update my rating. I can't understand why it limits me to a few sentences....
