Réforme propose à ses lecteurs un regard différent sur les évènements du temps, et les évolutions de notre société. Mais il tente aussi de mettre en valeur et de faire connaître les initiatives prises par nombre d'associations, mouvements ou communautés inspirées par l'évangile. Attaché aux exigences de l’œcuménisme et loin de toute attitude strictement confessionnelle, ce journal se veut habité par l'espérance, bienveillant et chaleureux.

L'hebdomadaire Réforme se veut un journal de complément aux quotidiens et magazines généralistes pour décrypter et analyser les évènements de l'actualité générale, politique, sociale, économique ou culturelle. Son exigence est d'offrir une réflexion poussée sur les questions soulevées par l'actualité et aider à discerner, donner des repères.
Une information commentée, expliquée, engagée dans une certaine conception de la politique, de la société, de l'homme. « Il s'agit d'abord de rechercher l'information signifiante, c'est à dire celle qui marque de façon certaine, une société. L'information est ici une matière première qui doit être retravaillée pour en faire jaillir un sens ou une interprétation », selon l'un de ses fondateurs, le sociologue et théologien Jacques Ellul.
Réforme s'adresse ainsi à l'ensemble de la population et contribue au débat public à partir de son ancrage particulier. Réforme est une plate-forme, une agora où se font entendre différents points de vue.
Habitué par ses origines protestante à la diversité des opinions et à la confrontation des idées, Réforme souhaite encourager les débats contradictoires de qualité en permettant à chacun de développer son argumentaire. La « ligne » de Réforme est celle de la confrontation et de la diversité.
