Focal Length

Different digital and film cameras have a variety of film and/or sensor sizes. The size of the "image-capturing" element in your camera determines what the final picture will be. The focal length of a lens does not change when you mount it on cameras with different image capturing sizes, but what you see in the image does. This app allows you to look at the focal length noted on your lens and determine what the equivalent 35mm focal length will be on your specific camera. This essentially determines the "crop-factor" of digital cameras that have sensors smaller than 35mm film. In addition can also be used on medium and large format cameras to determine their 35mm equivalent focal length.
