About Sandbox Web Browser

Sandbox is a web browser for Android devices (It’s a Universal app for both phones and tablets) that restricts users to a predefined list of allowed websites (called a “whitelist”).

Sandbox is a great solution for a variety of settings in which users should only be browsing specified sites. These possible settings could be the classroom, kids’ use at home, kiosks, restaurants, retail outlets and more.

Additionally, Sandbox offers the following features:
• Lock configuration settings with a passcode to prevent users from changing settings
• Add bookmarks for approved websites
• Customize the appearance of the user interface to enable or disable features
• Easily configure multiple devices using a property list file
• Automatically return to the preset home page after the device has been idle for a specified amount of time

Possible Uses

Home and Classroom – Parents and teachers can ensure students are only going to appropriate websites. This is great for academic settings where safesearch is required.

Work Devices – System administrators for large deployments of devices could ensure that the devices purchased for work use are being used to only interact with approved websites.

Kiosks – System administrators in visitors’ centers at places of business or museums could create a contained environment using Sandbox, meaning users could not visit other apps while using the iPad.

Restaurants – Have patrons order using a Web-accessible menu, but restrict them from freely browsing.

Retail Outlets – Shoppers could view an online catalog of the store’s inventory or online product brochure without having to give open web access to them

When you disable pull to refresh and the navigation bar, the push to hold menu to bring up the settings/ bookmarks is broken and will not stay open. In addtion, if I was to use this for my employees, they can simply go into the application manager and "clear all data" and go on to whitelist and search whatever they want. Otherwise I love the app. Please fix these things. Thanks!

What would one use this for? Like in other words, oh man I'm so bad at explaining what I'm trying to say, Ok like someone would install this program because they thought to themselves: "I want to do so that I can do "? Like what would <> be? Do you get what I'm saying?

I've used this successfully for a couple of years but newest update has rendered it useless. Even with whitelisted pages, our users cant complete form

Excellent tool for parental control. Thank you!

Works as advertised. Default whitelist is turned on so nothing can be browsed unless you configure it. Passcode locks it, although wiping the app data would reset this, so kiosk mode would need to be set unless you disable access to system settings. One pet peeve I found is that long-press doesn't let you paste in your email or long password; instead it drops a menu down from the top.

Gave this another shot. Almost works. Needs option to disable pull to refresh. Trying to do a signature always gets interrupted by the refresh action.

This works!

I wish it had Apache htpasswd support. All I get is a 401 error when loading password protected pages

Best whitelist browser

Features like: Back, forward button, a homepage showing bookmarks, multi tab, page saving....BUGS: EVERYTIME YOU EXIT FROM SETTING, SWITCH BETWEEN APPS, CHECK PHONE NOTIFICATIONS, IT LOADS THE HOMEPAGE

Unlike many other whitelist browser apps this one actually works :) and it has a passcode lock for the settings.

Cannot navigate a web string, even with all domains entered correctly in whitelist. Instead wants to keep loading the same page with entered selections from a previous history multiple resets prior. Cannot manipulate bookmarks whatsoever.

Could you please fix the problems with editing and deleting bookmarks and white list. Really cuts into functionality and I could really use this app

Can you add print to this browser?

T70%

I don't see the usefulness of this app. It's great to whitelist, exactly what I want, but how can I possibly whitelist each page I'm trying to navigate to from within the whitelist url? Really limited uses. Consider fixing. You need to be able to access all links from a whitelist site or else it's useless.

Whitelist works great. Developers were quick to address a bug.

It would be nice if you could zoom in and out on web pages.
