Flixster Video for Android
App works great on pc but doesn't work great with my phone. Streaming a movie is fine but you can't download one to watch offline. Says downloading gets all the way to 100% then nothing. Some encoding text comes up but no downloaded movie. Using Sony Xperia z5 premium
This is a terrible app for privacy. It reckons it needs access to everything pretty much on your device. Once I've watched the movie I was bought for XMAS I will delete. I mean why does it need access to my phone number and history and my WiFi network history? Its spying and it will never pass GDPR
Rubbish at streaming a movie. Constantly crashes or gives up altogether. If Amazon, Netflix, Google and the BBC can do it why can't you!!! Is it any wonder people go to pirate sites or use mp4 when you get this sort of service from something you actually paid for? If you have enough memory available on your device downloading a movie will wotk but you could have to wait 30mins for the privilege. Put some of your company profits into a well design, technically efficient product please.
Horrific software that crashes after every 5 minutes of streaming or so. Would rather use an illegal site to stream. At least it works consistently! Also, I never wanted this app. I was forced into it by UV as it's the only way to stream.
(Galaxy S2, S5, S7. Win10.) Works ok. Captions work properly now. Had issues with a movie incorrectly listed for another country but was fixed eventually. It has unfortunately been un-fixed and now having varying problems with 3 other movies hence the drop to 3 stars from 5.
Why does this app not have material design? It currently looks horrifically bad without it. The normal flixster app has material design. So, this app should be the same. It also needs to support the S8's 18:5.9 widescreen display.
A great little app and much more than its Google Play predicessor with the ability to change languages and subtitles - would be great to have director/cast/crew commentary, but I guess that would use up alot of data. Still it does the job and the HD playback is fantastic. Highly recommend!
Used 2 work brilliantly. Now movies play 4a few seconds then buffering all the time. Downloaded films do not work. I loved flixster now hate it as my digital films never play. Fine on laptop but not on my Samsung tabA tablet.
This app is garbage. I literally couldn't get any of the movies or tv shows to show up. Kept saying there's an error. I don't recommend downloading this if your trying to download movies to your device
Used to work just fine, now half the uv codes I have I can't use as the catalogue hasn't been updated, also the customer support is bs, last two tickets Iv submitted have come back undelivered as their inbox is full. Load of old bollocks now
What ever happened to a movie off of the shelf being added to your Google Play library? Now I've got a Sony , Flixster and UV accounts to juggle all to watch one thing? This is ridiculous. Let us choose where a digital redemption goes. The "old" way was far superior to this.
Dreadful. Will not play any downloads whilst offline. Forced to use app due to UV. Disappointed to say the least. Wouldn't bother but Blu-ray next time. Easier off Amazon Prime.
I like this app but sometimes you have to redeem at another website even though you have an ultraviolet code flixster does not list the title. All this has me at a loss because after the code is used on the website you are often redirected back to flixster. All in al though this ain't a bad app.
I tend to favour other platforms because they support Samsung TV in the UK but Flixster Video does have an excellent UV catalogue and is sometimes the only option available. It could do with parental controls now they aren't handled by the UV library. If you connect WB Movies All Access to your UV account Flixster Video gets disconnected, and vice versa. No idea why but it is irritating and ridiculous.
Experienced some downloading issues, had to keep trying in some instances, because it kept stopping. This app WON'T let me cast a movie to a smart tv in the same way YouTube does. When queried with the online chat help I was informed this feature was not available, even though the icon appears in the preview frame. Disappointing....
Hasn't worked since I upgraded my phone to the latest Sony L1. I notice they don't update the app very often so not proactive to customer needs. I have tried to email the team but you get their mailbox is full. Substantiates not being very proactive or productive. This app is owned by the film companies too. I guess customers don't matter to them. Use the Talk Talk app instead
For the most part, a great app. However, some of the digital versions of movies purchased do not work properly. when I contacted Flixter they told me they were working to resolve the issue. it's been months and the movies still won't run and no update from Flixster.
Needs to wok properly on more devices. On my phine it says playback error occurred contact if problem continues and it does. Wheather its the fact i need to install something or you app wont work on certain devices i just want to be able to watch the movies please.
Non of my movies will play now and when i try to play a movie, after it does nothing and i back out to my collection, that movie is no longer there. The app deleted my movies from my collection and i cannot get them back into the app. What is the point of buying digital if you are not allowed access to your paid content?
Allow me to download my films but then does not recognise the download is available on my Samsung Tab. Been queried with developers but no effective remedy offered and no fix after numerous updates. Disappointing and switching to an alternative portal.
Waste of time, brand new tablet and it won't play anything in my collection. It managed Harry Potter for literally 3 seconds and then crashed, now won't even try. Strangely absolutely fine on my friends ancient Hudl....have given up with this pap.
I'm no longer able to watch more than 5 minutes of a movie before buffering. Even on a superfast fibre connection I have problems. Absolutely useless
Worst app, worst customer service ever. I can't access any of my movies and have been waiting for over 3 months for them to resolve the issue. They are the worst.
It's handy but has several bugs and likes to crash. - Takes a long time to load all videos (34+) - Crashes during search - Refuses to play certain videos - No download manager - Doesn't always sync with Ultra Violet - Dialog and sound can be unsynced - Won't let you redeem a 4k code if you already have a redeemed digital code for the same movie
The time bar and forward/rewind don't work and when I'm watching it I can't use CC or put ot on another device. Also I think you should change how it is when touching the screen to get the pause button, etc. when viewing a movie as it takes up way too much of the screen because it has a big bar that pops up and brings up the device's home button.
Absolute rubbish. The Blu-ray disc is sold with a UV copy, but you might as well buy a Blu-ray disc that comes with a poster. The apps works maybe once in a blue moon, but most of the time any downloaded content will just not p!ay. Contacted support and the usual delete and reinstall and download content again means it works once and then stops working again. I was told by support to trust them and delete and reinstall, but useless. Please avoid this rubbish and watch paint dry instead. UPDATE: Got email from support that problem was specific to the Nexus 7 device and was now resolved, but not so. Still doesn't work and they have escalated this again. I'll get another a 5 litres of paint to watch it dry while the engineers do their stuff (or not, as the case may be). UPDATE: still no response to the issue. Will allocate any digital copies to Google play where possible in future as this is a waste of time.UPDATE: New update and every time the app is accessed it stops working. The dogs on the street can do better!!!!!! Absolute Garbage....... UPDATE: App updated but still does not work. TERRIBLE!!!!!
Use to be great, but now only half of my film collection will play. Contacted Flixster 2 months ago to get a response "we are working on the problem." Nothing has happened to fix this issue
The app keeps playing audio in a random language. Just want to watch in English. Like this is seriously rediculous. The controls do nothing.
Weary AF of this buggy p.o.s. app. I can't even find times at local theatres with it any more.
It refuses to let me watch my movies in English. Selecting English as the audio plays the film in French, and there's no way to snap out of it.
Was forced to get this app for my digital UV films. Wanted to watch my films offline on my Lenovo tablet. After much hassels getting the downloads to work, find that neither my downloads or even streams work! Contacted support and hear I'm not the 1st to report such an issue. Nearly 2 months later and I've heard nothing back. And digital films are meant to be a selling point? I feel robbed :(
Not the best streaming site, some of my movies come up as unavailable. It would be more beneficial if they continued to support roku or fire stick.
So much constant hassle trying to retrieve a missing collection.. Which goes missing a lot. I do not recommend.
Works great. My only gripe is it's not possible to move your downloaded movies to external storage and watch them. Considering the size of movie downloads this needs to be a consideration.
Constant on and off buffering regardless good Internet speed during a film not able to use external memory to download. way too long to have waited for this to be sorted should not be expected when you purchased the film
Movies never play, constantly buffers and crashes the app. And when you download a movie, it shows as downloaded, but then never plays... playback error appears. App used to be good, but now is absolute rubbish.
Worst app ever. Keeps crashing and struggles to play any movies. Buffering keeps coming up even when movie is downloaded to device. No help from the 'customer services' either. Avoid
Update: The latest version is hideously slow at loading my library. And after it loads, it takes 90 seconds for the play buttons to appear after opening a TV series. It won't even play on all my devices. It also reports Playback Unavailable on numerous movies that used to work. As well it seems to now be unavailable on android 4 (which given that there are lots of android 4 projectors and media players available is pretty poor planning). Very disappointed. It still doesn't provide 5.1 audio to the digital output of my media player. (Kodi does!!l) The app itself is otherwise nice but needs far more sorting options (grouping seasons, sequels, franchises etc). There is also no app in the UK for PS3/4 and it doesn't work on a Linux PC either, so an otherwise really good idea is very seriously weakened.
First time using this app Downloaded Kong and watched it offline... not one single issue with the playback visual or sound quality. Will be seeing what else I can do on this app but great so far.

I used to think the Flixster app was great for using my free download codes when buying a blu ray. I had a good collection going - all of which i download onto my tablets sd card. HOWEVER... When i bought a new tablet and sd card and tried to re-download my films it doesn't work!! It tells me its downloading but when i actually try and watch one offline theres nothing there. Seems you only get one download or the app just does not work with some makes of card or tablet
