What are users saying about SpeakMe Pro

by W####:

I switched back to free version as the pro had issues speaking only the AppName for a number of apps. Also, if the pro version had this setting like in the free version where setting up the filter is just a button, I would gladly reinstall it. Because setting up my preferred name filters for each of my apps is a total hassle.

No speaking. Unistalled and reinstalled same result... :(

Nice! Now I know exactly what app is notifying me.

P70%

The speech is unintelligible for Whatsapp but interestingly perfectly fine in Viber...

Non functional. Very simply, it does absolutely nothing.

T70%

The free version works quite well so I bought the Pro version, but it does not work. Please fix it or refund. Thanks.

by N####:

Works great. Reads the subject line of emails. There's only a couple minor problems. 1) There is no option to set audio stream to "Voice" alone, it only has "Notification/Phone Stream" which will still use the speakers when a headset is connected. 2) The widget is big and intrusive, would be nice to have a simple 1x1 widget just to turn SpeakMe sound on/off.

THIS APP NO LONGER WORKS AT ALL !!!!!!!!!! This app worked very well for a long time. Now it keeps stopping and won't work correctly. I tried to set apps for it to work with and it will no longer allow me to do anything with it. I can't even get into the app list. It crashes before it gets that far. I see the last update was July 4th. That update seems to have made this app useless.

N70%
by N####:

I've only had a chance to test it with one app, but it does exactly what I needed it to do - reads outloud the text of the alerts from my home automation app. When the garage door opens or the door lock is open, or the window and doors contract is tripped (all WINK enabled devices.) I had purchased an app that would cause a custom ringtone to play upon receiving an alert, but it used the same ringtone for all alerts from any particular app - so although i could use that other app to play a ringtone for all alerts from the WINK app, I couldn't get it to play different ringtones for the different alert types ("garage door opened" vs "front door opened" vs "window opened"). Speakme Pro reads the text of the alert, so I now know which device triggered the alert

Used to work great, but now does nothing on S4, 4.4.2 (KitKat). Others report the same, but no comments from developer. Last update in 2013. Can only assume that it has been abandoned.

The free app was working, but after I installed Pro it stopped working. Tried reinstalling but no joy.

Using with Home automation and the Wink app. Works perfect. Tells me in a voice if my garage door was opened or closed. I can pick what apps I want to speak and ones I dont. Works great so far. Well worth my hard earned dollar. Update, bought pro and now it doesn't work. Wth?

I liked the free version but wanted the functionality of the pro. However, the pro version seems to do nothing. If I have the free and pro enabled at the same time, the free still works, but with the Free disabled, pro does nothing. I've used the same settings. Is there a user guide in English?

T70%

After tuning the text to speech speed a little bit, this app works OK besides when there are multiple whatsapp messages and/or conversations coming in at the same time. It just tells me there are messages from X number of conversations without reading the details. I tried to do research online to find out how to avoid the phone's notification auto stacking the messages and couldn't find any information. Tried to contact the developer using the email listed on google play and got a undeliverable bounce-back email. Very disappointed.

Love this app, except the part when I'm having phone conversation, notification comes in and the speech is going on at background and it's super annoying! How can I silent speakme when I'm on the phone?

T70%
by T####:

It works well but doesn't always seem to catch notifications and read them. I can be listening to podcasts and it will work, reading an email or hangout alert. But ten minutes later, I can hear the alert but without any speech. Voice Notify is better in this respect, but has its own issues for those on earphones rather than Bluetooth. This app works fine for earphone users and Bluetooth users.

S70%
by S####:

Spelling errors in the application. Speaks when not configured to. Not good for an application that I paid for.

S70%
by S####:

Bought the Pro version. Does not read my Exchange mail and only notifies me of GMail, but does not read the content of the email.

R70%
by R####:

Whenever I get an Any.DO or Facebook Messenger notifications, it only says sorry I could not read this notification. Two issues: 1) There is text in the notifications. 2) Even if I don't use the notification fields and just write down a custom message, it doesn't read the custom message. E.g. "Messenger notification" (no reference to *(1)* or whatever).

Works well and is great for Motorcylce riders aswell as sys admin to read out server notifications.. One suggestion.. In the app listing, Display enabled app's first (would save a lot of scrolling)..

Loaded with options, including for individual apps. Along with everything else, I use it with Jelly News to have my RSS feeds read to me, where it reads even beyond what is shown in the expanded notification. Over all, a brilliant piece of work. (Would be very grateful for an option to momentarily pause media players while notifications are being read.) Best wishes!

I use this to play sat Nav sounds and read email/sms/whatsapp in the bluetooth speakers of my motorcycle helmet. Its great. The ability to only play sounds when connected to bluetooth is great as it means I don't have to keep turning the app off and on. If I had one suggestion it would be this. When it is connected to my helmet and an email comes in it plays it over my bluetooth speaker but also over the phone speaker. I'd be nice to disable to phone speaker. Would mean people won't hear my emails when I stop in a petrol station. Other than that, great app.

1) stops working 5 minutes after running. 2) often only reads the titles of notifications as opposed to the actual content itself.

Would be even better if there were some Tasker integration. I'd like to silence it while at work and turn it back on at home.

Hi Flip120! Thanks for this marvelous app, Speakme reading Google Now cards it´s amazing! I´d like to suggest a better way to use memory and process resources. I noticed that speakme is always taking resources and keep Svox TTS always on. Can you only "activate" Svox when speakme really need it? I´m using this app as Andrew Sunderland, only when connected on Bluetooth at my car. Btw, thanks for all! Great app!
