FlickKey Keyboard for Wear

PLEASE NOTE: This is the standard IME (Input Method Editor). It needs to be installed as your primary IME. It has some poor reviews due to disappointment that it does not install on Wear smartwatches. This will change in Fall when AndroidWear 2.0 arrives.

FlickKey® — the only keyboard that is both fast and accurate on all touch screen devices

FlickKey® Keyboard app is is the most innovative new way to type. It is a full step into the future. FlickKey's fully gestured method uses a new input object that offers unprecedented accuracy and efficiency. Unlike the swype-ing keyboards, and traditional tap keyboards, FlickKey lets you to type all common words without having to swype, or tap, all the characters of a word—so last century. FlickKey uses unique nested popup flick-keys to provide the fastest and most efficient new way to type.

Would you also like to truly touch-type, and keep your eyes on your text? Would you like to type with any number of thumbs or fingers - any way you like? If so, try FlickKey. Once mastered, FlickKey's superior concept has the reliability and speed, due to its six large keys, to let you move beyond staring at your keys. FlickKey is extremely fast, efficient, and accurate on all your touch screen devices - even smartwatches!

FlickKey has a minimum six large flick-able keys with 9 selections. To use: press and flick (slide) in the direction of an outer character. You can press ANYWHERE on the large key. Tap for the center character.

FlickKey keys are so large that they are not hard to hit, they are hard to miss! Learn to touch type with FlickKey and keep your eyes on your text. That’s nearly impossible with a standard mobile keyboard.

Note: FlickKey does NOT work like the sliding input methods! The Popup Flick-Keys require significantly less swipe -ing. Further, FlickKey differs philosophically from keyboards that rely on disambiguation. FlickKey can type all text accurately and quickly, not just common words guessed from a dictionary.

FlickKey includes POPUP FLICK-KEYS containing whole words that can be entered by choosing words with as little as two little quick flicks. Thousands of words, symbols, and phrases can be entered with unmatched speed.

FlickKey's best features:

◆ Only six super large ‘hard to miss’ keys on the screen at a time
◆ Popup flick-able keys so you can type common words uncommonly fast
◆ More common punctuation characters on the main screen :-)
◆ Only two screens for all characters
◆ Accuracy and speed!

And FlickKey:

✓ does NOT ADVERTISE to you!
✓ does NOT GATHER INFORMATION about you!
✓ Is safe and secure

Thanks to developer for finally making this available in my country. I've been waiting since last year. The best part about this keyboard is it's very easy to figure out how to use it. It uses the familiar QWERTY layout, and the important keys are all visible at a glance and easy to discover too. Unlike the competitors, there's no need to tap-hold-swipe here. The only problem is it's going to take some time to get used to.

Novel keyboard for smart watches. Takes awhile to get used to but worth it.

S70%

At first, the keyboard seemed really slow, but I can see how you could get faster at it with time. This makes good practice for when you decide to get the Android Watch app of this keyboard.

This keyboard needs work but I like the idea overall. The more you use it the better it gets; especially with the popup suggestion feature. Once you start learning the best way to flick for particular words it can get fairly fast. Maybe not the fastest way to type, but I personally like to try new things so this is fun for me.

After testing for 1 month, I have mixed results on this IME. On 7 inch screens like my Nexus 7 2012, it's a useless app because it's slower to input a character on said keyboard in comparison to any standard keyboard and I don't have accuracy issues at all on QWERTY keyboards. HOWEVER, On 4 to 4.7 inch screens like my Motorola Atrix 4G and my Moto X 2013, it's an AWESOME app because I have frequent and annoying mistyping accuracy issues typing on those devices when using standard QWERTY keyboard (that includes swiftkey unfortunately). On even smaller screens like my Samsung Galaxy ACE II (on cyanogen ROM) or my Moto 360 1st gen, IT GETS EVEN BETTER! Two thumbs up for the developper!

really wield concept. -- Reply, its not about speed, but about familiarity. I don't want to use Qwerty, anywhere, as that might affect my performance in places where it matters most.

Doesn't work for Android Wear watch

M70%

I expected to have trouble with it but I was usually able to text faster than I normally could. I recommend this to anyone who wants a new keyboard or anyone in general. As soon as I get an android wear watch I'm going to get this for it for sure!

It is a very clever design to cure the problem of typing on touch screen device. However, I need to switch between English and Chinese keyboards frequently. It would be great if a quick key can be added on the keyboard to enable me to do so without having to go to the Settings.

I just started using this app and I am already typing as fast as before but having more fun! Typing has never been this fun!! I recommend this app to anyone that wants to have fun typing!! Thanks for making an amazing app!!

You replied that the Android Wear isn't supported however the video clearly states that it is. Th@ is misleading

Tried loading it to use with my G watch R but it didn't really work so well. Voice is still easier

N70%
by N####:

I love the idea, and I can actually text from my watch with it and Wear Messenger. Not a 5 because I think that they could optimize the 6 boxes for more intuitive typing. Still, its an excellent keyboard for a smartwatch device.

F70%
by F####:

It is a very real challenge to get input on small devices right. One thing that needs to evolve more is keyboarding - especially with touch devices. This app is well worth the try and a very innovative solution! It lets you be very accurate and I think given some practice, fast as well. The dev is excellent at responding as well.

I enjoy using it but how does it work on android wear? I have a moto 360 running 5.0.1

N70%

Takes a little getting use to but is rewarding when you do.

The popup keys are amazingly fast. This keyboard for android lives up to its promise. I love that it types just what I tell it to, rather than guessing. I also like that if I type something like keybaord, I can just long press the space key to keep the misspelling. Best of the alternative keyboards.

N70%
by N####:

Why is it advertised as working on android wear when it is only working on watches running android 4+(not the same as wear)

C70%
by C####:

The developer listens and works fast! It isn't completely there yet, but it is getting better and better!

O70%

I immediately noticed that this keyboard is considerably shorter than the other keyboards on my tablet. It could be a little taller to make the six keys more square and therefore usable. I would also prefer to flick in the opposite direction; my instinct is to start the gesture from where I see the letter that I want and flick into the center.

It just had a massive update that fixed an annoying bug with Passwords and the Popup Keys now include words from your dictionary! Also, the new look is better (if still not my style) All in all, a really great update!

I shouldn't have to do research to figure out how to type a backslash. This will never take off. Plus the design is hideous

H70%
by H####:

There are a lot of minor inconveniences with this keyboard. First off, it doesn't capitalize the first letter in a text automatically. Also, it never capitalizes the letter "i" when it is by itself. Finally, double tapping space doesn't put in a period, which it should do automatically or at least have the option to do.

I have been using this keyboard on my watch and so far it is GREAT. The functionality is amazing on such a small screen.

L70%

I have used FlickKey on a few different devices and I really like it. Compared to the qwerty style keyboard that they try to stuff on a tiny screen this is amazing to use and the pop up words are great. Once you get going your typing response will be incredibly fast. Try it continuously for a two weeks and I am sure you will like it. You just have to get the QWERTY crud out of your head.
