FlickKey Keyboard for Wear for Android
Note: FlickKey will become a full input method in fall when Wear2.0 is released.
Also Note: This version does not load on smartwatches with Intel chips -> Fossil and Tag Heuer. (Sorry, currently working on a fix! Just ask for a refund if you downloaded it.)
FlickKey finally solves the problem of typing on a smartwatch by providing a novel new input method. It is NOT a miniaturized version of a phone keyboard. You simply cannot shrink over 30 keys on a small screen with good results - whether you tap, or slide over the keys. It cannot be done. Instead of hiding poor basic input accuracy under heavy autocorrect and disambiguation methods, FlickKey gives you just six large keys that you can tap, or flick in eight directions.
FlickKey does have a learning curve, so give it time to sink into your brain. (And try light quick flicks.) But once accustomed, you will find that you can type quicker and more accurately than you ever expected you could on a smartwatch. Master FlickKey’s novel popup flick-keys, and you may find that you can type faster on your watch than on your phone.
FlickKey can be called from any supporting app. To message with FlickKey, first download, then download a compatible app.
The following top rated messaging and utility apps currently support FlickKey:
Wear Messenger SMS texting app
Coffee – SMS on Android Wear
Quick for Wear Messaging for WhatsApp, Hangouts, Gmail, Telegram, Facebook Messenger, Threema, and Viber

WristMail for Wear email app
All Appfour Apps: (Messaging, Email / Gmail, Browsing, Calendar, and more.)

Prefer voice? FlickKey enhances voice input. You can now append, edit, or add punctuation/symbols to your voice messages - and Emoticons / Emoji.
FlickKey includes Popup FLICK-KEYS containing whole words that can be entered by selecting words with short quick flicks. This is the fastest and most efficient way to type, with much shorter paths than swiping input methods. Thousands of words, symbols, and phrases can be entered with unmatched speed.
Note: FlickKey does NOT work like sliding-keyboard apps. The Popup Flick-Keys require significantly less swiping. Further, FlickKey differs philosophically from input methods that rely on disambiguation. FlickKey can type all text accurately and quickly, and not just common words guessed from a dictionary.
FlickKey's best features:
◆ Only six large keys
◆ Popup flick-able keys so you can type common words uncommonly fast
◆ Many common punctuation characters on the main screen :-)
◆ FlickKey has a full key layout - without limits - in just two screens
◆ Multiline editable input
◆ Accuracy AND speed!
If you have any problems, please contact the support email address before leaving feedback.
Requirements: Host compatible with all phones running 4.0+. Watch app compatible with square and round watches (Android 4.3+).
Note: FlickKey does not timeout and it stays on the screen by design - so you do not have to re-start the app if you pause typing. You need to either send your message, or exit the app when you are finished typing Otherwise, the screen will stay on and it will run down your battery!
Supported Languages: English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
Developers: Email the support address if you would like to add FlickKey to your smartwatch app. It is free and only takes a few simple lines of code.
The keyboard is great, works well and quick. .. Just needs a full Emoji set and I'm all the way in.
This is hands down the best keyboard for android wear there will ever be. It's just lags sometimes. It would also be nice to make it look a little better. Other then that I will forever use this app. Keep up the good work! Love the compatibility with all the new apps! Moto 360 2nd gen.
Takes a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it, wow! what a breeze it is to use on wear! Not sure if it's possible but the ability to learn from my phones keyboard, I use SwiftKey, if this could learn from my SwiftKey data it would be great and make this the ultimate wear keyboard! Great job with this so far though, well done Dev!
Typing like you would on a phone with a watch is not clever try it on a circular smartwatch it is horrible. However with Flick Key their approach works like magic on even the smallest watch screens. Spend some time with it and then invest in another app to link this tool and you have the ability to text on a watch. Google should really buy this company I really couldn't text on a smartwatch any other way.
Couldn't type on my Moto 360 without it. Built in keyboards are garbage, and make me scroll around to type anything. This is so much faster and very effective!
Makes typing on the Moto 360 easy...
A lot of effort to use it but, it's helpful during meetings and other places you can't use your phone's to respond.
I appreciate the emoji update but I'm not quite sure why it wasn't just another keyboard layout like the numerical layout. Was a pop-up just easier to implement?
Application works well, developer offers good support for issues. Definitely worth the money.
Paid but not able to instal
Works great
Brilliant! This is a fantastic concept and makes texting on a wearable not only a possibility but quite fast! I have to say I'm also quite happy with the dev. As soon as I had a problem, he stepped in and helped me fix it by email. 10/10
May just be me not working out how to set it properly but so far i can only manage to use this for internet search. I bought it as i wanted to use it for replying to txts and Facebook messenger but it seems i cant use it for that so its pretty useless to me.
I was very confused as to how this worked, and was getting frustrated because there were dead spots and weird actions going on in the wear Messenger app, like not being able to go back. I rebooted my watch and everything works perfectly now! Steep learning curve, but by far the best way to type on Wear.
Doesn't work very well at all.. Sooooo hard, almost impossible to type anything so far.. Upset I had to pay for it before I could get it.
It's a bold attempt to develop an app like this. But it's not worth it. Wasted my dollar.
Only issue is I can never get the comma to work! Everything else works perfectly.
This keyboard works good. It's require some learning curve but other than that it's great. It even supports Hebrew
Need to use for whatssap and bbm, please update
Perfect
Originally tried using on Fossil Q Founder but app wouldn't install on watch for unknown reason. Tried keyboard on first gen moto 360 and worked flawlessly. Really innovative. And two thumbs up for excellent customer service. I currently am using the Fossil Q Founder watch and hope this app will support the Fossil watch soon.
Brilliant....now if it could integrate to hangouts SMS on my wear device this would be fab (... Without me having to root/have XPosed)
pretty good keyboard but it has a big learning curve but very effective.
Add material desighn
Very good !
This is a amazing keyboard. Well done to the makers of it. Why the hell android wear doesn't come with this already installed is beyond me. The only thing that I don't like is sometimes word predictions don't work.
Did not work with the Messenger app from google on my Huawei smartwatch. Will be asking for a refund. The messenger app is the only app that can send MMS with pictures to my smartphone so I will not be installing another app. In the future if you do make it compatible with Messenger , please let me know.
The app does not installs! LG urbane with wear 6.0. I had tryed all tricks-rebooting, uninstalling and installing again, but there is nothing on watch
I don't understand how people can type or get ANY words to come on a 360. It only pops up words for the center letter of the squares. Probably user error and not the apps fault. Just don't understand how it works
App was cool but i tried the keyboard on my moto 360 2nd gen 46mm but the top line of letters refused to work, even tried rebooting it.
Didn't even install on my watch.
Needs support for stock Messenger and Hangouts app
This keyboard for wear is awesome! I haven't been using my watch a ton lately, especially since sometimes the voice commands can be a little wonky when texting people, but now I've been using it constantly. This has made me fall in love with my watch again. I highly suggest this keyboard to anyone that has an Android Wear product. You will get fast in no time and be punching out messages with no problem. Thanks for the great keyboard!!!
Excellent app! I tried several IME on Wear like Minuum beta and Analog keyboard and Flickkey beta and Flickkey remains the best app for no-voice input so far on Moto 360 1st gen. Now that the official Flickkey app has been published on the play store, IT'S EVEN BETTER since I don't need to resort to adb debugging on bluetooth to install said IME if I have to factory reset my watch! Thank you developper!
Pretty easy to use after you figure it out.
very good. you most add hebrew languge pleaseeeee
This is a amazing keyboard. Well done to the makers of it. Why the hell android wear doesn't come with this already installed is beyond me.
