Parkour is also known as tracing and free running -- as these athletes are called Tracers. Free running is developed from military obstacle course training. Practitioners get from one point to another in a complex environment without any equipment. Tracers use running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping, rolling, quadrupedal movement, and other movements as deemed most suitable for the situation. The sports development from military training gives it some factors of a non-combative martial art mixed with elements of gymnastics.
