ScotRail Train Times & Tickets for Android
Downloaded this specifically to put tickets onto my new high tech fancy pants Smartcard but the app seems to be low tech and unfancy pants and has no option to connect to it. So it's not really saving any time or making things easier, it's just another app taking up space on my phone.
This version seems to have introduced annoying bugs. I use the Live Departures button quite a bit, but the update has wiped the joyrneys i take and added a whole load of randoms that i dont. Searching on departures adds mine to the bittom if the list but seems no way if clearing unwanted departures.
Check website - disruptions. Check app, all on time but message of disruption at the top. What? Why can't these trains be tracked so as to show exactly where they are so we know if a service is actually working/moving (like uber). Our transport system is so prehistoric, doesn't mean the app has to be.
By which I of course mean its as useful as a blind person enrolled as a sniper. Take train times that falsify information and have resulted in messed up schedules and being late for different matters, this app isn't all that useful.
This app is only useful if you need to find a service on a normal schedule. Any late running or cancelled services with not be accurately picked up and could leave you waiting for a train that has already been or will never come. Like I am. Right now.
Tried to buy my first ticket this morning. What a farce. There is no option to create an account separately from buying your first ticket, so each time that anything went wrong, e.g the heinous crime of including a symbol in my password (recommended secuity practice) I had to fix the problem and then enter all my payment details again!! After several various "errors" (and having to keep re-entering my details over and over again) I installed the Trainline app and bought my ticket no problem ...
Online Club 50 is NOT on the pull down menu 'railcards + promotions' menu, therefore utterly useless app. Irritating. Please sort this out Scotrail.
Had the same problems as another reviewer - password requirements only checked at the last step of buying a ticket. On top of that, 10 character alphanumeric is not secure, it's laughable. After I met their requirements, I was told my session had timed out, so I uninstalled the application.
I have wasted so much time trying to buy tickets for my smartcard with this app and the website. It is impossibly complex. Staff were helpful in sending me a link to the website page but why it isn't easy to find from the main menu is beyond me.
Always use it for trains but tried it with buses. Takes me to traveline Scotland on an internal browser but the browser is bugged and sending loads of pop ups? Avoiding buses at the mo
App is fine and works well for me but I find it really annoying that theres no option to clear out old virtual tickets from the wallet!! Have ones still there from 2015 that I can't delete which is very frustrating
Never had a problem with accurate train times or prices but bit pointless buying ticket online to save time then having queue at the station to get my ticket. Should be able to show your ticket on the app then be given a ticket on the train
Very regular conenction error, despite being connected to wifi or in a strong 4G area. Very frustrating... GET IT SORTED.
Using app to purchase tickets does not work. Use browser instead. Very poorly designed app in terms of user experience and functionality. Not tested properly or at all by looks of it. Should be easy to do but you've made it very difficult. Negative experience which will be shared with others until fixed. It's not as if you can't just look at other existing systems and copy them, Oyster works very well but you've decided to do this and make it a terrible customer experience.
A well written app. Nice features such as remembering stations frequently used and defaulting to the current time. Very happy with the app. A nice complimentary feature would be free wifi on trains and at stations.
Useless to me. The idiots don't build the list of railcards dynamically. No Club 50 card listed. So totally useless. Why did Scotrail waste time on an app when the website is 'mobile friendly'?
I wanted to purchase tickets for use with my smart card but couldn't see any way on the app to do so.
This app gives me everything I need to plan my trips and check for live trains. I like the new Help Point feature too! Well done ScotRail!
Having tried now a couple of weeks to use the Delay Repay does not work..it would seem that they don't want people to use the Delay Repay
Not able to access the Club 50 railcard discount from within the app unlike the website.
Gives me most of the info i need but should display how many coaches there are for each train. Should also display the times for the connecting bus service between Glasgow Queen Street and Glasgow Central. Also the ability to buy smartcard tickets would be great.
Horrible watch face thing instead of time dial. If you put wrong hour in you have to back right out and start again. Difficult to get return train times on book tickets if 2 singles is the cheapest option.
Lots of bugs in this version. Can't log in, no option to resend password, no option to register again. Annoying confirm check box appears twice every time you press back key.
Every time I go to use Bus search it comes up Competition questions and can't get rid of it. So the Traveling Scotland search is non existent
Downloaded to use the delay repay feature as it wasn't working on the website, didn't work here either.
This is a good app but because it will not tell you about the calculationa and delays when requesting train times, it just gets 3 stars.
Kind of ok. Sometimes connection error. Doesn't always show all available trains. Can't use club 55 card.
Really useful app, but not sure if you use it to buy tickets for the new smart cards yet.
Doesnt let me see my smart card purchases under my tickets
I use this app to buy tickets very often and never have a problem. I would like to know when the option to add my purchase to my Club 50 Smartcard will be introduced please?
Why can't I buy tickets for my smart card?
I can't buy a ticket and put it on my e-card using this app. The purchasing of a ticket involves too many steps.
Best feature is Live Boards, which I use all over UK. What is really annoying is the failure to show when a train becomes a bus, as in current Central Scotland works. It also needs to show intermediate stations in Journey Details, as in the DB app. Say you want to go from Edinburgh to Glasgow via Bathgate. Only way to do this is to find a train that goes to Bathgate and then go back & see if it goes to Glasgow.
Return ticket Falkirk to Larkhall. The app would only do two single journeys. No return ticket available. No online club 50 railcard option either. Buying online with railcard £7 less than on app.
Doesn't appear to have functionality for smartcards or season tickets.
What is the point of a digital app when you have to go to a station to collect a physical ticket. The ticket should be on the app or you will be as well buying it at the station anyway. Join the digital revolution ScotRail!!
Train times are not up to date
Bought a Club50 but there's no option for it under the Railcard option on the app. There is on the mobile version of the website. Why would this be??
Complete joke of a company hopelesssssssssssssssss

Good enough app BUT it's useless for booking tickets using a Club 50 card. Lots of other cards offered on the ticket purchase dropdown but oddly not the Club 50 one so I've to go on to a computer to book. Fix that problem and the app would be a 4/5.
