First Bus m-Tickets for Android
So far since my experience has been with single tickets maybe thats why Ive not had issues in comparison to others. There are issues with slow loading or unresponsive buttons sometimes. I also don't like that if I want to use 2 tickets (one for another customer) I have to wait for one to expire first.
Good, could be better. Good: cashless tickets, accepted on the bus without hitch, buy tickets to activate later. Could be better: laggy interface is like a choose your own adventure game with added time travel. Back button doesn't always work, form resubmission after validation failure doesn't work forcing you to hit back button and go back in.
It's a joke. Simple as that. Crashes freezes. Says you need data. Firstbus sort it out. And it took me 10 mins to buy a ticket. Says no connection despite being in a city with 4G. The most frustrating app and element of my life is this god dam app. It seems to be self aware and shutdown as the bus arrives. Then forces you into and agruememt with the driver forcing humans to fight over an app. A budget version of skynet. Starts my day off in the worst way.
This app is a pretty terrible attempt at a smart ticketing app. It's clunky, poorly thought out, not user friendly and it's design is ugly and out dated. Just finding where you should be buying your ticket is annoying, and the card data input page is incredibly poorly made. Västraffik To Go is a far better app, and if the devs read these reviews i suggest you go take a look how these sorts of apps can be made well.
Horrific app. One too many times I have stepped onto a bus and gone to show the online ticket and the app will crash, or it will log me out. If it logs you out, you have to input all your card details again! A couple times it's charged me twice for one ticket. Sometimes the app will work so purely I will have to just pay by change, despite paying for a ticket on said app. Absolutely useless. Also, no option for a single ticket.
Penalises people who don't have or can't use smartphones, forces you to buy packs of tickets so penalises those who can't afford the packs. You have to clunkily change area and buy multiple packs to travel if you live close to more than one first region. So many ill thought through and unfair issues and that's before I even start on the app itself. This is a very poor attempt at smart ticketing.
No Issues with the app. I can't see what the negativity is about. I use it only for purchasing/showing tickets and it does that job just fine. Saves the hassle of going to a shop and buying that pack of chewing gum you don't need just so you have the right change for the bus.
Where are flexi tickets!? Why would you guys have an app selling only done of your products? It's ridiculous. I can't buy flexi tickets, which you evidently sell on the bus so who not on the app? And the interface is all messed up. It looks like a high school kid designed it for homework. Lots of improvement needed.
I think it would be useful to let drivers know that the app crashes or takes it time to load 80% of the time. I understand it's still in developmwnt and you are doing your best to improve it but I'm left waiting for the next bus to come way too often. I will be switching back to paper tickets until bugs have been fixed
Frequently crashes and the button to buy more tickets disappears and reappears at random, so good luck buying tickets. Why would you a company make it hard to give them money. Thankfully most drivers are understanding of the problem. A terrible app from a terrible company.
Never works, crashes all the time, when you are lucky to get it working it takes ages to load and you miss your bus! The buy ticket option has disappeared! This app seems like a nice additional earner for first bus as when you buy an online ticket and it fails to work you are left with no option but to pay again for your fare!!!! Awful app
Very buggy. Frequently crashes and often takes ages to load and this is not ideal when you're standing there in front of the driver to show him the ticket. Like other people I had my ticket disappear along with the button to buy tickets but was able to fix that. Come on, make an app that works without all these issues
Good stuff. Some drivers don't really look at it though and others obsessively stare at phone. Ensure mobile data on before open app otherwise it gets proper confused. Load time could be quicker. If tickets vanish then a server request refresh fixes it.
The app is excellent when it works, but there are a number of bugs that need to be fixed. Before leaving home I always try to load the app via WiFi to ensure its up to date with the server. And, I clear the apps storage from the phones settings every so often when all the purchased tickets have been used. I find doing both greatly improves the apps performance. Plus, when ever the app has deleted an unused ticket signing out of my account and back in usually restores them. If the app wasn't so bugging still I would rate 5 stars.
UPDATE: Now even worse (if that was possible). But a big thank you to the first bus drivers who keep letting me travel anyway when the app repeatedly crashes. UPDATE: Now the Buy Ticket option keeps disappearing!! Only option is to uninstall then reinstall and add credit card details each time. Now uninstalling the app. The app crashes when opening around 50 % of the time. The app for some bizarre reason also needs a Data connection when opening and will not open without one. This is problematic where I live there is no coverage at the bus stop. Stick to paper tickets until this app is improved.
it's really handy for buying a weeks worth of bus tickets for the week but, its so slow to get to your active tickets. Thankfully I've only had to keep one driver waiting while the app loaded. Either the app needs to open quicker or it needs to be quicker to get to your active tickets.
The app sucks and a part from constantly freezing, I bought a ticket then told the driver that I am buying another for my friend. After two tickets were activated he was happy to tell my that I can't do that! If you can choose 17 or 18!
It would be fine other than you have to uninstall the app and put in your details repeatedly when you want to buy a ticket!! Could do with a PayPal link as well. If you only need to do a few days instead of a week the day ticket option disappears.
Besides being poorly designed, the app now doesn't seem to offer any simple single or 2 trip tickets that I needed at one particular moment. Needless to say, due to their non-existent QA team, they've lost more money. Great job guys.
As another user put it: the app seems to be sentient and will crash just as the bus arrives, leaving you to fumble around trying to reopen it again. The 'transfer ticket' functionality has never worked. The tab bar and navigation bar on the Tickets screen is black, and you can't see any of the text. When it does barely work, I am at least able to get on a bus, but the whole process is mediocre at best.
Seems to have improved recently. I used to always be having the purchase option disappear and having to press the refresh option to get it to reappear. This has now been sorted. Option to purchase single day tickets rather than batches of 3 is much appreciated.
Tried to buy tickets but couldn't sign up. Said i had an account with the phone number, tried a different one, said i had an account with the email address. Try to send a password reset link to the email and it says that email isn't valid...
This app saves me few quids, however sometime take ages to open the app. This is the real pain in the a** when you get into a bus but can't show the ticket to driver. I managed to find a way but this is not gonna help in the long run. I keep trying to open the app at least 10 hours before riding the bus. Most times it works. Immediate attention needed to resolve this problem.
This company should fire there whole development team because honestly I'm not sure what they do. I know it's not app development, if it was them we would have a solution that we feel comfortable trusting. Instead we have a solution that makes you hope every time you open it that it's going to stab you in the back like a jealous housewife. What a complete joke honestly.
Useless app...just freezes then closes itself. Tells me I need more storage or I am connected to a server. I am literally sitting beside my wifi box and I have storage space. So this is a pretty useless app.
Crashed over and over. Only way to get reasonable bus prices in Bristol but have never been able to get it to work. If it is £2.50 a ticket for people who can get the app to work and £3.00 for those paying by cash, what is the price for people who want to use the app but can't because it is terrible? I have to pay extra because you can't deliver a half decent app?
Avoid update it will stop working. I can't load tixkets, connect to a server even on strong Wifi connection. Had to go back to paper tickets. 50p wasnt worth the stress
Does the job most of the time but has started crashing. Just what you need when trying to get home. Fortunately the drivers have taken pity on me when it's happened and let me on without having to pay another fare (I do show them the ticket as I get off!)
It does the job half the time. Suffers frequent crashes and sometimes loses all my tickets. Not very helpful when you're stood in front of a very impatient driver. It also constantly loses your saved region. It would be so much better if you could prepay more precise journeys.
Was always a bit prone to crashing, usually when it was raining so you had to faff about getting wet restarting it. However the new update to QR code tickets doesn't seem to have worked as whenever I scan my phone on the bus the ticket machine doesn't recognise the code. A ticketing app which produces tickets which don't work is a bit pointless, they do get a star for having good customer service though
App keeps crashing and delete the tickets, you have to call to have them put back on which means you either miss the bus or have to buy a new one. Make an app which you need to create an account and some of your problems will probably be solved, since you keep putting the prices up and not improving the service and least you could improve the app.
Won't even load. Was rubbish when I tried it 3 months ago and now it's worse. And you can use cards on the buses so you're left with paying with goats or something equally primitive and possibly unavailable.
Let's you spend all your money on tickets.. then the app freezes when you try to use them. Now have tickets I can't use. DISGUSTING CON!!!
Very unstable. Bad habit of crashing exactly as the bus arrives and then refusing to restart. Almost as though First Bus designed it that way so you have to pay twice.
App is ok when it doesn't freeze, kick you off, delete your stored cards and tickets or spend several minutes loading. I have to open it when my bus is about two minutes away to make sure it's ready. Deleting amd reinstalling has done nothing to help. But at least it better than the new time checker
Better than it used to be, but has always been a very crashy app, they really need to focus on fixing crashes. FirstBus - go take a look at the crash reports in your play store, and be shocked.... Aldo needs android pay support badly
The only good thing about the app is the few £ you save! But what is the point in that? Whenever a bus does decide to come I open the app and it takes bout 2 minutes to load so when I go on I need to pay for a fair because the app is so slow on loading!! I buy monthly tickets which are already a lot of money and I can never use them! Sort it out!!
This app is full of bugs. It crashes regularly, UI becomes unresponsive regularly to the point where I struggle to open the app in time for when the bus arrives! Several times the bus driver has allowed me on the whilst the app comes back to life. Other drivers might not be so kind. The point is, these bugs need fixing asap so the app is at least usable. Please hire some decent Java developers and QAs and try and make better products. On a positive note, this has the potential to be a good app once the bugs are fixed.
First time I used it was for a day ticket and it worked perfect. So I bought a monthly ticket. I have 20 days left on it and have had several problems the app takes a long time to load and sometimes freezes. I have had to pay for 4 ticket with cash on the bus because this app won't work

My tickets were dissappear once before, and now the app is not working at all from ytd, keep showing "first bus has stopped", there are 4 long trip and 4 short trip inside, please give my money back, I will not use it again. Please make sure your app is usable before "enforce" people to use it if want to pay less.
