FiLMiC Pro for Android
I just purchased this app and i'm really frustrated. The app crash all the time if the osmo mobile is already connected and once you open the app, no way to get connect to the osmo... and then message "something went wrong" 4K doesn't work and log is not available in the package. Onwer of note 8 and samsung. Big Warning!!! I sent email to your support but is actually useless. Nothing else than we are working for a solution.
The most recent app update is great and has resolved the focusing issues I dealt with previously. However I can only get the app open about 3% of the time. For some reason most of the time there is an immediate crash when trying to open the app. I am on a Pixel 2 XL running Android 8.1.
Im using Galaxy Note 8. Is it supported a DJI Osmo mobile on this app? Cause i'm experiencing difficulties on connecting ng DJI Osmo as hardware on my device. Can you help me?
This app has great features and I'm sure it works perfectly on an iPhone 7s, however on my Samsung Note8 and DJI Osmo Mobile, I'm having some odd and frustrating problems in regard to usability. Filmic does not save settings on exit. Every single time I start the app, I have to set up device specific options all over again, set the color profile, connect the Osmo, etc. I'm not sure if this is an Android general problem with Filmic. Another problem with he Osmo seems to be that it the joystick always moves the gimbal no matter what mode is selected. This means of you use the joystick to pull focus, the phone will also tilt up or down at the same time. Any thoughts? I sure hope these can beade better, the Note8 is one of Androids biggest flagships with killer cameras to.boot.
Disappointed that the flat picture profile was not included in the initial purchase, it is an additional cost of another 10bucks which is just way too expensive including all the cost.
Excellent app. I previously gave it a lower score because of a lack of updates for android users but this has been addressed. This is the best app for recording videos, by far.
My videos look amazing thanks to the flexibility to shoot as a pro camera. I Use it in every video I do.
Totally satisfied.
:) Often reload app in Samsung Note 8. Wilde interface with pixelaised icons. No optimisation for big resolution in 4K 30fps in fact about 20-22 fps in video. No reconnect Bluetooth if turn of display of smartphone and then turn on it back. No tripod mode in timelapse video a kind of shaky...
HELP ! SOMETHING WENT WRONG , COULD NOT CONNECT. After using filmic pro a while with DJO OSMO MOBILE. Suddenly it shows could not connect. And my videos doesnt appear in the in app library.. record 4k 100mps 30fps S7 edge
Updated review after emailing the filmic guys. Framerate issues on note 8. Am told it is a known problem with note and s8 line. Apparently they are speaking to Samsung to hopefully get a fix sorted. Until then I'd recommend people with galaxy phones hold off buying this app if you want smooth video. If the framerate drops and stuttering can be fixed this would be a very impressive app worth the price.
I will rate 5 stars once you fix the variable (should be constant) 24 FPS @ 4K on LG G5. Apart from that the features and flexibility this app has are outstanding. I have already sent you an email from your technical support web page describing in further detail the bug I discovered. Update 1 I am going to buy LG V30 soon, which is one of the best (if not the best) smartphone for videography out there at the moment. It shoots 24FPS and it's got lots of manual settings out of the box. I really hope that the developers of this app sort out the framerate problems which seems to be a common problem among the most popular android phones.
It's shit for this heaping price. To use it properly you have to pay 12 cad more in app to get any use out of it. Using on S7 Samsung. 31 bucks for an app like this does not add up. Waste of my money. I can't even save to my SD card. Focus is glitchy. Stuttering. I want my money back. I used the (Filmic pro evaluation) app and it ticked all the boxes. Not happy at all.
I enjoy the app much better than than the stock camera. This gives me way more control and opens up small features that are great when shooting shorts; great output. I hope it continues to fix and improve on itself as it is a great app. A couple of issues, one the controls to change the zoom speed and ISO speed are too far out and sometimes are difficult to get a hold of. Two, which is the big one, the auto focus does not work. I really wish it did. I can definitely work around it, but not having that makes some situations more complex than need be. Pixel XL (first gen, 2016)
Really useless if there's no auto focus. On 3 different phones it only focuses when you tap or move the reticle. Not useful.
The video frame rate issues continue to plauge the Samsung Note 8 fans using this application. Once they get that addressed you will have a winning product again. Until then if you have a S8 or N8 don't buy!!
Nice app if it worked. Love the concept but a bunch of things dont work on my LG V30. Auto and manual focus all over the shop. Massive audio drift in both premiere and Davinci. Cant lock frame rate or iso or move either singly. Focus peaking disappears randomly. Tons of features that simply don't work. Controls that are tempermental and buggy. Output that is for practical let alone professional purposes useless. An expensive mistake with the extra add ons. unfortunately because it could be amazing.
Has incredible potential. Unfortunately does not yet support shooting over 3gb files so rather useless for longer shots, which is my use case. They really need to have a limitations page in which they list known issues, cause video support on Android is a minefield of issues currently. Really, if you want to shoot reliable video at the moment, buy a iPhone or a dedicated device. Hopefully Android will evolve in this area, but when it does this app will be the best, but for now a combination of app bugs and hardware snafus means stay away.
Great app really nice layout and features. although it still feels very much like a work in progress, I came across some issues but support were very helpful and put me on the beta version to see if things were fixed.
I would love to give this app 5 stars for the idea of what it's supposed to do. When shooting video in 4k Ultra HD it tends to glitch in between the video recording and when reviewing the video if they can get that fixed this will be a five star app no doubt about it but if those bugs can be fixed I will give it 5 stars but for now only 3 ⭐????⭐ please fix the problem I paid money for this app.
Filmic must acknowledge the many flaws on Samsung s8 please. Its criminal to sell to people when Filmic know, and have documented to me the flaws. Disgusting company with no ethics. Rubbish...This is a beta version. So many issues it's not worth using. eg - Judders if you use 48khs. So why have the option?. Nor can it be 4k...why have the option? Voice sync issues on every level. Export to another device and sound alters levels. Switch to 24mb and sound level drops to low. So This app is a beta that should not be released. We run a videography buss. This has cost us money...loss.of time interviewing. We are back to the original Samsung camera - it works. Filmic where are your ethics?
Won't Auto focus or manual focus on my Note 8... Pretty pointless if I can't get clear video...
Great app, but crashes every time I shut it down on my Pixel when connected to Osmo. Workaround is to force app shut down. Hope next update fixes the problem.
Got myself a DJI Osmo Mobile only to find the DJI app for Android offers no manual controls. I was going to return it until I found Filmic Pro which really steps up what I can do with my Pixel XL. Also got the cinematography pack so I can film in LOG. All around amazing, however curious as to why video stabilisation is not available for the Pixel XL (assuming to enable support for higher bitrates)?
Autofocus doesn't work on my s8. It only works when I unlock the focus. But only once for a half second then it won't work. Please fix.... no AF sucks.
Very impressed! I bought Filmic Pro for my Note 8. So far the footage that I've gotten I've actually been pretty impressed with and I find useable on a paying job. Disclaimer: I am a professional video...type...person, so I'm shooting manual and know a bit about settings this emulates. The program itself is solid and works well once you set up. There are a few little bugs, but I've been talking to support about them (who are awesome) and they've been very helpful in bug reportingetc. The only downside for Note 8 users is that they do not yet have support to use the telephoto lens on the phone. Samsung is not releasing that to third parties until 2018, from what I've been told.
I have an LG V30 and it doesn't seem to be fully compatible. The Autofocus doesn't work right and the video quality is no way as good as the native camera. I paid $15.00 for the app and unless it's made compatible with my phone, I want a full refund. Thanks
I just have notice that most of my footage was skipping like jumping some frame, my settings is 1080p/24fps/50mbs. anything that you recommend on this. thanks
Framerate problem with video shoted in 4K or 3K at 100Mbps with Samsung Galaxy S8. The developers said that is an issue with something of Samsung, but I paid 20€ for nothing more than the standard camera app can do.
Bought this to use on a shoot where I had to pay for commercial access. Complete failure. This app does not record 4k smoothly. Footage is jumpy as it looks like frames are being skipped or there is lag in the file writing. 8 hours and 500.00 plus the cost of this app and add-ons wasted. No useable footage. This app should be pulled. Samsung Galaxy 7 edge.
Does not work with the DJI Osmo. Shutter and video buttons both turn up the volume and don't do as expected. Also get ”error, can't connect" toast. Very disappointing.
Oneplus 3T. Have issues with audio/video sync. 4K @24fps. The evaluation app indicated all hardware okay.
Crashes all the time, when I want to use the DJI Osmo Mobile. Without it I don't need this app..
Small bug when you use the torch function it will not lock the camera exposure.
Can you please add support for Zhiyun gimbal.
Hey ,ive just bought this app ... its really cool ... but how to make a smooth slowmotion ?.... im using galaxy note8
$10 In app purchases for the real features advertised
Love this app. I was a beta tester. A few things need working on and I'll update my review. Autofocus does not work on my pixel or pixel 2. White balance jumps around like crazy and you cannot set it to stay in one place if your recording multiple clips. Even if you lock white balance for one clip it resets after that clip is done. Stabilization does not stay on and you should be able to turn it on and leave it on every time. This app is worth the money. Once the bugs are fixed it'll be great.
WARNING - Samsung s8 users - do not install. This app is not working for the S8. Voice sync issues - Unusable footage when using 48khz. Frame rate issue. Sound level issues. WARNING - DO NOT USE ON SAMSUN S8 This BETA product with so many bugs it is not worth even trying. I have S8 - tried every setting and with each new issues arise . We lost days of work using this bug ridden rubbish

Very good app. Best for video recording. Last update is amazing! Autofocus and Auto exposure! I can't realize why it's so low mark... Only 3,1... For full happiness it is required 60fps in FHD (Samsung Galaxy S8+) and Smooth Q gimbal support. I wrote to Samsung about 60fps for third-party software, but they haven't answer me...
