OpenVpn Tasker Plugin

Not the prettiest of UI but it works a treat. OpenVPN Connect 0.6.63 doesn't want to work with it (I can't mark it trusted, just keeps asking) but 0.6.60 works just fine. Install F-Droid and get it from there.

This plugin is awesome and has worked for me for the past couple of months. Then all of a sudden it stopped working after going on holiday. It doesn't list the profiles anymore. I have tried older versions of openvpn for android (and the latest) I have also tred other versions of this plugin. unistalled all plugins, tasker and openvpn but nothing :( is there any cache or anything I can clear? or reset access to the plugin? I really liked this app :(

An update would make this usable again. As of now it's useless.

Some quirks amongst different versions of the VPN client have been addressed.

I wish there was a way I could use a event based profile. When the connection is changed the plugin sends out a intent or use AutoApps system to inform a change has been made. Or a way to poll the status of the connection. I have task where I like to poll the current status of the VPN.

I have a working profile set up in OpenVPN for Android (latest version) yet nothing shows when I try and configure the plugin within Tasker.

totally confusing, and the author's web page is of no help. I'm not too Android savvy, and I'm always amazed at the apps that are so user-unfriendly from the start.

This does exactly what it's meant to do. The only feature I wished it had is the ability to connect to the last used VPN instead of choosing one from the list.

Not bad. Was working flawlessly but now no longer shows the OpenVPN profiles that are configured. Any ideas? I've reinstalled everything except Tasker.

And works flawlessly. Even though you'll never see the ads after you make your profiles, you should pay to remove the ads because this guy needs a beer.

To all those concerned that this Tasker plug-in won't work with OpenVPN for Android, the version of that app that presented problems is very much a thing of the past. If you use the current version of OpenVPN for Android (0.6.50 as I write this), you will find that this plug-in works flawlessly with it. I'm using the OpenVPN Tasker Plug-in to bring my ExpressVPN up and down. Although there's a nice enough official ExpressVPN app in the Play Store, it doesn't expose any intents for remote use, so there's no way to use Tasker to initiate and tear down a VPN connection. A very nice enhancement of this plug-in would be to allow the user to pass as a Tasker variable to OpenVPN for Android the name of the profile to connect with. This would make it easy to build a profile name from any number of conditions (day/evening, location, etc.) and bring up any one of a dozen profiles with a single line of Tasker code.

Finally I'm able to disable my Open VPN connection automatically when I get home :-)

And it would be better if you add an option to hide the launcher icon.

Why is it not compatible with the official OpenVPN app (OpenVPN Connect)? Seems odd to only support an unofficial app.

Why does it require an unofficial openVPN client? Rather suspicious.

Not much to say aside from the fact that it works quickly and easily - perfect. Up to 11/17 - now it keeps saying that I need to install OpenVPN for Android, which is installed... I am not going to remove stars to hold you hostage until you fix this - just please do so sooner rather than later as I use it a lot!

By the time I reconfigured Open VPN, google had re-updated it back to the latest release. You need to make the plugin work with the latest release!!

The plugin works fine. I have a question though. Is there any way to make openvpn connection without bringing the app to the foreground?
