About Safe Camera - Photo Encryption

SafeCamera is a camera application that uses the military grade encryption (AES 256) to encrypt your photos on the fly to ensure they are secure, are safely stored and hidden against third party invaders, even if you lose your device and it gets in hands of professional hackers. Securely hide your photos, so that no one except you can access them. SafeCamera has it's own camera module that ensures 100% secure storage of the photos.

Key features:
Take photos that will be instantly on the fly encrypted and thus never be visible to any application or person until you open it with SafeCamera providing your master password.
Gallery to browse your encrypted photos
Camera with flash and timer for taking self shots
Import existing photos/files to SafeCamera encrypting also filenames and delete original files
Share encrypted photos ether encrypted with same password, other password or decrypted
Import encrypted files from other SafeCamera instance
Encryption with state of the art algorithms and implementation schemes that are proven to be 100% secure by governmental and military organizations.

We have thought of everything! Did you know that once any info is written into the memory and then deleted or even overwritten with another file, it is still possible to restore it? SafeCamera never writes your unencrypted photos into your phone’s SD card. The photo is encrypted on the fly right after it is taken and only then is written to your SD card.

Do you have files that you would like to keep safe? Just import them into Safe Camera’s domain and they will be safe. Although SafeCamera is mainly for handling photos, you can also import and keep safely any other file types.

Want to share an encrypted photo with someone? Send the photo(s) either encrypted with your current password or re-encrypted with a different password. Then just tell the encryption password to your friend and he/she will be able to import it into his/her copy of SafeCamera.

SafeCamera uses AES 256 bit encryption, which is approved by NSA for keeping top secret files. SafeCamera derives encryption/decryption key using PBKDF#2 algorithm using more than 2000 iterations.

What are users saying about Safe Camera - Photo Encryption

Great app! Would like to suggest to add a time lock feature. Such for instance that one could snap a photo of an actual combination lock, after blindly changing it's key code. SafeCamera would encrypt the picture and allow access to it only after a pre-defined time has passed, before no viewing of the picture allowed. Thus one could use the combination lock after changing the code without looking at it to create a real time-lock safe, similar to Amazon's kitchensafe. Which then could store real-world things to which one would only get access to for instance a day or a week. Could also be used to time-encrypt other files. That would make a great addition and is a market niche.

R70%
by R####:

UI awful. It needs a lot of improvements to be more user friendly. Sorry Alex, but it's very basic made. Read what (other) people say and get on with making it better.

C70%
by C####:

Almost impossible to make Home the external SD card. And impossible to navigate to existing files elsewhere on your phone. Needs more user friendly and flexible navigation I think. Otherwise would be ace.

C70%
by C####:

It s a clever app. Not having internet permission makes me trust it. Problems: It takes some time (one or two seconds)) to encrypt the image and there is no feedback of the imake being already taken, so you tend to press the button again and the app crashes. Nothing critical but it worth improving. The UX can be improved. It is not initially clear what gallery button is for? Import from device gallery or view the encrypted gallery? Again nothing critical.

Q70%
by Q####:

Works as advertised. It's the almost perfect safe camera application. Taking a picture can be a little slow. I would appreciate it if we could use fingerprint authentication to unlock the software.

K70%
by K####:

Was unable to create a folder on the external memory card. It would offer to reset to default folder settings (internal memory) every time I tried.

C70%
by C####:

Fantastic secure file vault. Markets itself as a camera/photo storage combo but you can store other files in it as you like. Importing files is quick and easy, and the source file is securely written over to prevent recovery. Extremely secure and surprisingly responsive considering the layers of encryption. Absolutely necessary addition to every security-conscious Android user's app catalog.

C70%

640x480pixel limit, with modern phones camera capabilitys, is ridiculous. Do cameras even take such low resolution images any more??? Uninstalled as it's pointless.

Y70%
by Y####:

Minimal sized app with all bells and wistles. Only two permissions are demanded! As far as I know, no rival apps exist yet!

N70%
by N####:

I love it so much I have bought it. I would really like away to move photos taken with other apps to the encrypted partition with a password. I think that would make this app 10/10 respond to me if you want. Edit xD sorry apparently you can do that somehow.. trying to find out now this app is great

Best secure gallery and camera app out there. Simple to use and elegant app. Unlike a lot of other apps, Safe Camera gives you complete control over your files and the desktop app gives you the ability to view or decrypt the files on your computer. If you want to make backups I use 'Autosync Google Drive'. Because the files are already encrypted you can rest easy knowing that your photos are protected. The developer has done a great job on this app, they have given this a lot of thought. I have purchased the pro version and would happily pay more for the app. 5/5.

P70%
by P####:

It crashes on my Nexus 6p ( Android 7.1.1) on every photo taken. Also the camera button is not reliable, have to press few times to take a photo.

C70%
by C####:

Not able to open .sc file extension.. what ever you do, do not erase original photo or you will lose your photo. Please fix ASAP

C70%
by C####:

It deleted all my pictures when I delete cache m cookies

C70%

The encrypted file import feels like a lot of work to use, would be nice if encrypted files could be imported through the android share system.

Does what it says. And that is all it can do. Walks the walk. Thank you Alex.

C70%
by C####:

I think this app is great for storing sensitive pictures, because they don't get out from the app, and it auto locks, so pretty good.

G70%
by G####:

Good so far. Double check to see if the app ACTUALLY deletes the old files. Mine doesnt but says it does...

F70%
by F####:

I add some photos after that original fotos still there anter I choose to delete with secure wipe option.

O70%
by O####:

EXTRA-ORDINARY ENCRYPTION... BUT stillllllll No updates... And no video playbacks.... So saaaddd...

C70%
by C####:

Can only import one file at a time unless you pay for upgrade. No thanks you.

C70%
by C####:

Would be 5 stars if you could also take video as well as encrypt and play videos in app

T70%
by T####:

Works great. Needs to have a dark screen option, as well as lock program on device button lock.

C70%
by C####:

That's great because it doesn't need to have internet permission.

Q70%
by Q####:

Please add, stealth mode (Call Dialer to launch, ability to store video, in app video player, custom background images, allow to play large gifs, remove from resent apps list. I only use it to store photos. Much better platform then Andrognito, but lacks a little customization. I see an eventual undeniable 5 star rating in the future.

L70%

This app encrypts photos as you take them. It is thoroughly thought out so that the photos you want safe are always encrypted - even if your phone itself is not secure. You can hand your unlocked phone to another person, for example, without worrying whether or not you left the app open or remembered to 'lock' your photos. It locks the gallery after being closed or inactive. Overall, right now, it's not very feature extensive - but it does what is supposed to well, and is very simple.

Q70%
by Q####:

Actually encrypts the files and seems very secure. Shame it only does photos. It will encrypt video but will not play them within the app. A "hidden" mode would also be useful as would it not showing when the "recent screens" button is pressed. EDIT: I forgot to mention that I bought the paid version as it seems to do most things I need.

Q70%
by Q####:

I wanted to buy the paid for version of this app but it's unable to write to the external sd card in android 6.0 (marshmallow).. fix this and I'll buy it and give a better star rating.

U70%
by U####:

The app gives you peace of mind on your private photos. Direct access to the camera inside the app is a big plus. I hope the developer would improve the authentication though. Password is so last decade, gestures would be handy, finger print would be awesome.

I70%
by I####:

The Android square button that shows recent apps shows the last photo taken in it's app preview. Be Aware!

I70%
by I####:

Doesn't work for Samsung galaxy note s tablet users. App sucks. No delete button that doubley sucks it.

O70%
by O####:

Is there a limit to how many files you can have encrypted at one time? Everytime I try to encrypt more than one file the app crashes. Please fix this issue.

R70%
by R####:

It's great that there's gif support now, only other thing I could ask for is video support, and although this app says its for photo encryption in the title, maybe video compatibility could be added as a paid add on through an in app purchase?

Q70%
by Q####:

I used this app for a few months and typed in my password frequently. It was great for awhile, but one day it stopped working and said my password was wrong. I did not forget my password. I typed it in all the time. Now I can't access my photos

Very reliable and the tweaks and bug fixes over the last year have been excellent. Wouldn't go without this for encrypting files.

Q70%

256 bit encryption is not the highest it goes. I've seen programs that use 4080 bit encryption
