TravelWest Bus Checker for Android
Good app but unreliable bus service can often contradict
Great app to find when buses are actually due. Excellent journey planner.
It's March and the first bus on my route it recommends is in September! What?
If only the buses were as reliable as this app...
Easy to use and very accurate too
Excellent
This app has given me the wrong information about the "live" bus times on several occasions. I was on a bus stop today having checked the app and the bus at the time I was waiting for disappeared! I moved on the app to the next stop on the route & that showed the Bus was cancelled!!!! a minute later...the Bus did arrive. I will say that with GPS tracking How do they lose a BUS?????
This was a great app, but for the last few days it's no longer working with my phone or tablet. It's not been updated on my devices so what the hell's happened?? Just says now "your device isn't compatible with this version" It's the same bloody version it hasn't changed!! What's going on please?
Used to work really well, since the buses have been rerouted by stoke lane it's been completely inaccurate for the Frenchay area and as google maps is behind as well it makes it very difficult to to route plan. Especially when you have to get 2 or 3 buses per journey.
Easy to use and usually spot on for times.
Firstly, when the app crashes it takes 40% of my battery power with it. So make sure you have a good battery. Also worth remembering that this amp is not operational everyday (even when buses are running). For example 27th Dec this app is not being operatated. I dont know why as buses are running. But its ok as its free.
Having this info makes a huge difference to help with using the buses. Certain features can annoy but I wouldn't be without it.
I really like it, but we need to see more info when selecting between proposed routes. Agency/company most importantly, so I can jump immediately to the provider with the least expensive fares. Switching back to proposed routes is non-intuitive. I expect to see the list by pressing back after having already selected a route. Instead, that jumps to top right corner under the routes icon. Just takes a little getting used to, but perhaps an animated transition would help guide me?
Pulled from Windows Phone with no warning. Therefore useless to me. I bought a Moto-X last year to try out Android. Used it for a couple of months then gave up and went back to Windows Phone because I think it's a much better system. The Moto-X lives in a draw at home which is no use to me when I'm waiting for a bus.
It good to leave now, to know the time the bus is coming, sometimes even with GPS accuracy. It is not so good for planning trips. The way it shows the information make it hard to decide. When you go back you lost all your input information therefore it is bad to look for different options (apparently there is a back button in the screen to do this instead of the standard one). To give you an example, last night after fighting with it for a while to plan an early ride to the airport I decided to book a taxi.
Great app, easy to use. However, what would make it "killer" would be if I could see the current location of a bus I'm waiting for. Don't the buses have GPS information? Thanks.
So much effort put into a bus app, wow. I'm amazed, the UI is lovely! I just would like to plan my journey by specifying that I will leave at X'Time or that I would like to arrive by certain time.
Does the job... sometimes the running times are not updated that often so I only use this as a rough guide still.
Very useful, saves me from waiting at the bus stop!
When it works, would be good to know where bus is.
Never show right
So much better than the First Bus app
I love this app
Straightforwards
Good app
Very useful
Joke
"This area is not covered". It was a few weeks/months ago. Bristol for example is fine, and the favourites still show data, but the map is empty. Bug? Change in coverage? Be nice to know. Update: Still happening. These reviews are no way to report (or discuss) bugs. What is a better way for us to do that, me to send screenshots etc.
I can't fault the app, it does what it says on the tin. Being able to favourite frequent stops is very useful, as is the route finder. The only issue is the inaccuracy of the bus company timings, with buses occasionally teleporting from 10 minutes to due instantly. Still a good app.
There are two number 1 bus services in Bristol, run by different companies. They are called the "1" and "One" respectively. The company which runs the "1" is preferable when getting a day ticket, since they run lots more frequent services in Bristol so you've got more options for getting home. The app seems to get mixed up at times between the two different "1"/"One" services, and has led to me letting a number "One" go past since a "1" is apparently due, only for the promised "1" service to disappear!
If only I had this when I used buses regulary - it took away the worse thing I experieced with buses - not knowing if the bus had been early and I had missed it or was delayed. When the app said the bus was due - it appeared!
Just came across the widget for this. Sits on your home screen showing your favourite stops. Really great. Would be even greater if the app could magically lay on more buses in the morning.
... if only you can get to it through the clumsy user interface! Best features are that it shows the Wessex and airport busses; and the route finder. On the down side: unexpected back button functionality; can't edit a route finder search and the airport and bus station don't seem to be in the locations database (or, at any rate, don't come up in the autocompelete)!!!
I can't even begin to describe every issue with this app, there are simply too many. Bugs include missing routes, no ability to see journey timetables from a select stop, incorrect data, app crash upon selecting certain stops, terrible UI and UX, slow loading times... Would be good, but currently about as reliable as buses in Bristol.
This doesn't appear to reflect the new routes correctly. The new timetables in Bristol came into effect on the 4th Sept. The app is otherwise very good.
100% works. Even better now it's on my S7. Better than the app that first bus put out which is wrong more than it is right! If you are bussing about in the southwest this is the only app you need.
It often says 15 minutes (for example) until the next bus so I start to walk and fifty yards down the road the bus shoots past. Happens very often. Culprits are the 48 and 49.
always nice to know when the bus is coming! The app works very well, it does what it says it does in a clear and concise fashion. Great you can save your usual bus stops and then use the widget to view when the buses get to your usual stops.
Perfect if you love round the corner from a bus stop and need to know when to leave! It's been really accurate for me in Bristol. Extremely useful!

Great app. After having to get the bus to the hospital and back I found it very good. Ment i was not stood out in the rain for a long time waiting for the bus. Now use it to help people find there bus stop and times.
