¿Cómo se divide la Sagrada Biblia?

La Sagrada Biblia se divide en dos grandes partes: Antiguo Testamento y Nuevo Testamento.

El Antiguo Testamento comprende lo sucedido desde la creación del mundo, hasta que llegó el tiempo de la venida del Hijo de Dios, y contiene los pactos o testamentos que hizo Dios con los primeros padres, con los patriarcas (Noé, Abraham, Moisés), con los profetas y con el pueblo de Dios. Narra también los éxitos que obtuvieron quienes cumplieron estos pactos o testamentos, y los fracasos que sufrieron quienes no los cumplieron. Por eso, la Biblia nos enseña a hacer el bien y a evitar el mal. A hacer el bien, que gusta a Dios; y a evitar el mal que le hiere y le pone triste.

El Nuevo Testamento contiene lo que sucedió desde el nacimiento del Hijo de Dios en Belén, sus enseñanzas, su vida, su Pasión, su Muerte, Resurrección y Ascensión a los cielos. Y, además, la historia de los apóstoles, las cartas de algunos de ellos, y el libro de Apocalipsis. El primer pacto que hizo Dios fue con Moisés. El segundo pacto o Nueva Alianza lo hizo a través de Jesucristo, su Hijo. El antiguo Pueblo de Israel viene ahora sustituido con un nuevo Pueblo: La Iglesia, por Él fundada.
