Fandor - Award-Winning Movies for Android
I wasn't able to watch my video because I did not pay... boo for a free app
Ugly choices
How bad can the user interface of an app get? Download and find out! Without a doubt the worst media viewing app I have ever experienced.
Chromecast still iffy. sometimes it works fine, sometimes it just hangs in "buffering" mode. Sometimes reloading works, sometimes not.
Awkward, unintuitive, and limiting.
Crashes
The one thing that I love about this app is that it has so many movies documentaries in particular that I want to see. However when watching it in on Samsung Note 5 the video stops about every 5 Seconds. So after just a few times of pausing it and reloading it or going through and cleaning out the cache in my phone I usually give up. It's also very disappointing that I haven't been able to find a way to watch it on my Amazon Fire TV Fire stick. I'm at the point of deciding to cancel my subscription
They have an amazing collection so it's really a shame that they don't have a good app or interface. On the smartphone app, chromecast doesn't work, still. Freezes after first thirty seconds, have to log out, log in. The issues of constantly refreshing when you do a search as other reviewers have said make this a real pain to use. I could get lost in this collection, if not for the front end problems.
Ideal: no bugs, no issues on Note 5. Film snob's dream!
Great selection, pricing, and functionality. LOVE IT!
This app take for ever to loading movies to Chromecast! I'm eating, waiting & eating and my hair is getting white. There is good movies BUT DON'T PLAY!!
Much better apps out there at half the price. Content is low quality too. How does that work?
Ugh. Wast of space and time.
The user interface is awful. You have to scroll to the bottom to reach your queue and there is no queue choice in your options of splotlights, festivals, countries, etc. Every few minutes (or a minute and a half if you're unlucky) the movie will pause to buffer. The worst thing for me is the forced closing of the movie I'm watching which has happened several times. The bar for this app's quality has been set so low that it leaves one wondering how Fandor even has the face to still have it on market.
Awkward, unintuitive, and limiting. Unfortunately I have to use it in order to cast it on my TV. I never write reviews, but this is so terrible it warrants telling. Don't use unless you absolutely must!

Crashing all the time I can't play any trailers. As soon as I play them it gets frozen on the "initializing" screen and I have to close down the app to re open it.

I'd like to rely on the mobile app a little more now that I have a larger smartphone (Nexus 6) and stable high-speed wifi; but as of now that is impossible. It's layout doesn't need any reworking, but playback is horribly inconsistent: extremely laggy, highly pixelated about 35%-40% of the time, usually does not save my place in films in between playbacks, and becomes extremely laggy when I try to skip to where I left off. Will change my rating/review once I start to notice improvements.
Great selection, pricing, and functionality. LOVE IT!
App doesn't show in launchers with categories like Smart Launcher Pro as Fandor, but as "Home".
Love it
Drama
Fandor has a niche in the film streaming service. Excellent cinema but the mobile streaming service is not desirable. I hope Fandor at some point realizes how streaming customers view these services. Mobile, play station, roku, PC, etc.... Maybe a loss of subscribers would get someone's attention but then again maybe not.
Fandor has a wonderfully varied array of films from art house to grind house, but its client tech is awful. This app forces portrait mode for browsing (which based on a CS response here, Fandor seems to think is OK. It isn't.) If you fast forward you'll get lockup of picture, while the sound continues. Queued films that you look at, however briefly, perhaps to check print quality, are automatically moved to your watched list, so you now have to grind through two lists to browse your films. You can't view a movie in full screen on a tablet. And on and on.... Nonsense like this will sink a deserving streaming service. Shameful. Epic fail. I'm regretfully cancelling my subscription until they get their app together.
Every few seconds, the film stops because of buffering. This has continued for almost a year now. I have no trouble streaming an entire film on YouTube, but every two minutes, Fandor hiccups. What gives?
the android version on their app has a buffering problem that makes it difficult to watch a film. Constant freezes every minute or so. I use the iPad app on the same WiFi network in my house with no such problems. Also no such problems with other video streaming apps on my nexus 7 tablet. I love the selection of content, but I end up not watching as much because of this problem and the Chromecast buffer problems as described in other reviews. May have to consider canceling subscription due to this.
Sad since there are great movies here.
I'm saving u 20 mins of wasted time... (installing, searching for ANYTHING you want to watch, uninstall last post a review) It sux don't install
Let's see. force closes, constant buffering, stuttering, load times so long that I forget what I was going to watch, Chromecast buffering but the movie time keeps going - so you miss entire segments when it resumes and just lag everywhere. I won't even continue the free trial, it's that bad
This app take for ever to loading movies to Chromecast! I'm eating, waiting & eating and my hair is getting white. There is good movies BUT DON'T PLAY!!
Stil crashes on my galaxy s3
Great selection, but playing through Chromecast stops and buffers all the time.
I really like your selection of movies, probably better than Netflix. My only complant is that for some reason the buffering can't keep up with the video and is constantly buffering. I don't know if it's the player but I don't have this problem with other apps like Netflix and HBO Go.
The fandor player in a browser like chrome allows you to choose resolution if bandwidth is subpar. Wish the android app had this feature. Otherwise, nice job on the ui.
I signed up through Facebook and it will not let me watch anything. Keeps saying I am not signed up
I particularly the cult movie section, and I hope you plan on expanding that section even more!
The only reason I downloaded this app was to watch it on chromecast. Which doesn't work at all. Please fix.

I enjoyed every film I've watched, it's a very solid collection. However, browsing is not simple. If you decide to look into a film and go back, the app scrolls to the top and has to reload. The app needs to store data, not constantly refresh.
