Terrible app. Adding features no one asked for and making it almost unusable. Shove that camera nonsense somewhere else or at least give us the option to turn it off. Until you do so, I'm staying on a version which is 4 months old and outdated. It was the best messenger though.

App consumes so much battery & RAM It's makes my phone freeze if used for more than 30mins

Use it on a daily basis. Truly "WAS" the best app.....but I now that its been updated it kinda sucks! I dont like that it says I am active almost all the time! Also dont like that you have to download the app in order to read and reply to your messages...so yea it once was a great app. Dropped 2 stars :-( sorry developers! Ps.....is it true law enforcement can read our messages at any time they choose to do so? {Still veryuseful}

Easy to us, but there. Is a couple things that need improvement. I like the new feature that allows complete messages to be read through phone notifications. It comes in handy when u may not want the sender to know you read their message, just aftr u click on their name and you are ready to respond back! Another new feature I like is how it only shows active when actually using the app. Having the active feature is awesome until there are times you don't want others to know that u are active. Overall, one of the most useful apps there is!!! I will change to 5 stars when the notifications can actually be turned off individually, including calls. Forgive me if the new update fixed this. Help me! Im using Samsung J5 2016. I'm located on the Philippines. When I'm using my free data, my Facebook Messenger keeps on loading unless I am connected to a wifi connection. Using my free data, I tried to sign out my messenger account and log it in but then it just keeps on loading. Using my free data, I let my friends to log in their messenger account using my device. They succesfully logged in their accounts and they can send messages and such like there's no problem. Please help me.

I really love what Facebook as done here. There is so much to the app and it is all layed out in a wonderful format so it isn't intimidating. Once again Facebook renews it relevancy and purpose. Props! Update 2/25 I still love this app. One thing I would like to see fixed would be the false notifications. This is within the app and on my home screen. It says I have a message but when I click on it I was the last person to have said anything. The home screen does the same thing. It ranges from 1-3 notifications but I open the app and I either have none Or it notifies me that I responded already. I have referring over 10+ people to this app simply because it completely merges FB with SMS. Plus the gif support is awesome! Crossing my fingers this gets fixed.

The best part of this app is that I can video call all my girls at once. We all live in different states and one is even in Mexico w/ my grandson so it's important we have something reliable.... The free video calls alone is so worth the little bugs we experience every now and then. I use this app for everything!!! Don't need the 10 other apps when this one does it all! PLUS, Can't really b!tc4 about free!!!

As far as messaging and video calling the app does great. The only problem my friends and I have are when we send videos that we find on fb to each other. Some of the videos will only play the first few seconds or they wont even play at all. If this is fixed I would give it 5 stars.

I hate that this app is pushed so f'in hard by Facebook. You made a website, so why can't I just use the stupid website instead of downloading all these apps?? I don't want to use messenger but I still want to check messages only occasionally. Don't see why , if I can check my messages without messenger on my desktop, why I NEED to download this battery draining app to check them on my phone. Obvious data grabbing ploy.

Battery and data black hole. Random pings and noises every now and then for no reason (even through silent mode). Space hog, terrible video player, worst app on my phone besides actual Facebook app. Only have these apps because society has made Facebook such a cornerstone of connectivity

All of the Facebook app are disrespectfully unreasonably large. Stickers and video chat aren't worth 500MB of storage space. I do like the fact they put games in there now, but these could be replaced with some actual co-op games that allow us to be in the same game doing stuff together, instead of just comparing our scores. PvP and Co-op cause bonding and fun. Also please add Magic the Gathering Puzzle Quest to the games please. With actual PvP where we play against eachother and not stupid AI decks. Another suggestion is to add co-browsing. I have done this in Hangouts I know it's possible.

Needs reintegration with FB. Highly intrusive permissions and huge battery hog. Had to disable notifications; received way too many. I'm starting to think of FB as an adware phishing company. Cannot disable call quality feedback--very annoying. I already deleted the FB app (and my battery life is SO much better!). If I didn't I love WIFI calling, I'd have deleted this too. If I made an app with over 5 million 1 star ratings, I think I'd get the hint!

It's really great to keep in touch with family and friends far away with the video chat I love that feature. I always thought messanger should have face filters like snap chat. I had snap chat but didn't like the whole system in exception to the face filters. Now messanger has face filters but not the same ones that are available with an apple phone which is really disappointing, I can only use one or two when featured, I really wish there were more options for Samsung phones. Also it be great if you could save the face filters you do like to access when wanted. Once that comes around I will totally rate 5 stars.

The app wasn't asked for - maybe for tekky people - not me@!#$/^&. Most annoying waste of time! WILL BE LOOKING ELSEWHERE if I don't get the old one back. By the way Facebook - isn't it only professional to at least advise your customers a crappy app is coming - prepare to waste a day or two on a stupid app I didn't ask for......

Ever since the update its been malfunctioning. When I've actually seen a reply to my message it still stays in bold letters. It wont disappear until I either reply or uninstall it. It keeps lagging, commands take to long to execute and the refresh isnonly available for the chat head and not the app.

I don't want to text or call with your app. I don't want you to see my texts or calls, either. And yet... Removing these permissions causes crashes. Upon updating, these permissions are reenabled and immediately used so there's no way out of them.

Despite countless emails and complaints, this app is still here.This app is completely useless! You force people to use an app that was once integrated into the Facebook app. It takes up unnecessary space on our phones. Your will lose a lot more people if you don't put messages back into the Facebook app where they belong! Get rid of this app!

The app is awesome ! Was actually .. Since the last 100 updates it had in the past months it works like sh*t. Videos rarely load !!! Glitchy, always notifies me of messages I've seen, messages I've deleted in 2015 popped back up in .. If you're going to update it so often , at least fix the bugs and glitches, just stop adding stupid features 1/1000 will use.

Poor customer service !!!! No one has ever replied when I have ask for help with this app and the Facebook app. Same update over and over... Ya'll must have money flowing from your pockets so I figure that's why you don't care about your customers. Remember if it wasn't for customers you wouldn't have many bucks. That's what's wrong with America. People taking advantage of others!!! Shame on ya'll.

Lots of small problems. No way to customize anything. It reads your messages without asking, and then offers things to you. Can't open shared fb posts from the chat itself; have to use a PC. Can't fast forward in videos; have to watch the entire thing. It compresses all photos into low quality. It can access my camera and location even though I explicitly rejected those in the OS. Crashes often. Annoying sounds too. Not recommended.

Includes annoying advertisements. Goes really slow at times. Doesn't handle taking photos well (low quality photos with bad focusing algorithm). Has heaps of weird errors and lots of overly complicated annoying features. Was once sort of elegant but has been destroyed.

One of the worst UI redesigns in history. Fixing a problem that doesn't even exist. If a genie gave me a wish, I would have wished for everyone to switch to another social network for the sake of teaching you a lesson.

Now Facebook and this app no longer talk to each other and Facebook wants me to upgrade when I have the 2001th update. Does not integrate with FaceBook. Does FB get commission from the ISPs for all the data they burn with all these updates? Still the same, if tap on the message icon in FB it takes me to Google Play.

IMPOSSIBLE to use when managing messages on your facebook pages. Facebook will redirect you to this page to check messages whether you have it installed or not. It's bloody ridiculous. I'd UNINSTALL but I have no choice. It also always inaccurately marks you as active (leading other people to believe you're ignoring them).

Somewhat frequent crashes, but that's my phone's problem. (EDIT: looks like it was the app's problem too. It has been fixed, though, as crashes are now quite rare since the last couple of updates.) Still needs a dark theme to reduce eye strain. Other than that, it's a very competent app.

When the hell will this app work properly? Since the last few updates, it's laging more worse. Crashes a lot, freezes and won't let me open most pf my conversations. Piece of crap, never liked the app, now the updates make me hate it even more.

Bug!? Help!!! Before when I install this App it worked greattt. But for some reason, couple days ago it worked fine, yesterday it worked okay, but around 7-something: it won't deliver my message to one particular person, but I can text anybody else just fine. I'd updated it, restart my phone, turn off my phone then turned it back on. I am not being blocked, because he/she was trying to text me also. So, I don't know if there's a bug but I tried to do it on my part, you got to help!!!!!! Today it's still doing the same thing like how its been all night last night. Smdh!

Bring back the old way of viewing messages through the Facebook app. Messenger is an unnecessary extra app that I have to install to just "read" messages and clear notifications....only to uninstall it again. I don't message ppl so it's useless to me. Give me a choice of not HAVING to install it. I just hate messenger notifications and forcing me to install the app to clear them is ridiculous.

Other than my concern for some privacy issues I love this app it actually turned my tablet into a phone! That was before now it cuts off in the middle of a message and frustrates me so much I would rather go back to the old way of messaging on Facebook don't think it's available anymore

I'm loving the free video calls!!! It is a rather large app & I've had to delete other apps off my phone to make room for Facebook Messenger but it's been worth it... I don't sit on Facebook all day long so it's handy to have the conversation heads pop up whenever someone is trying to reach me. Keep up the good work :-)

Why can't you just do one major update every 6 months or a year. All these app updates are ripping me off on my data usage. And clearly have you updated? So many people use it it hardly works up darts ur engineering And stop ripping us off! BTW ur app is not working either since ur last update. android platform

This new fb messenger is frustrating. It crashes every now and then. "Something went wrong. Please try again". Notification counts will appear on the Fb app but when you check on messenger, you can't find the unread message. Bring back pull down to refresh! When you scroll hard up top, camera will automatically open. So annoying! Voice recorder / messaging ICON should be highlighted in red or make it big, like before. For drivers, its easier to see and click it.

This app has taken over my phone. I am not able to use the built in message app because this one DEMANDS that it be my default app. I can't message a friend becuz Facebook won't let us see each other's page!!

I dont know why we have to install this to have a private conversation with our friends on fb.... Why dont we have just a simple chat room like the old one? I mean, this messenger took my phone storage quite a lot..

Was a big fan of this app, used it alot. With every update somehow it became worse, it has now gotten to the point that i am not willing to accept it anymore. It is making my phone lag and freezing it and it's not just me having this issue. How can somebody make an app perform worse with every update ? Also i do not have an old phone and i am not the only one experiencing this.

I keep getting a notification for a msg I already read or for a message I sent. No matter how many times I mark it as read or open the msg it still shows up again as a unread msg. I even tried deleting said msg but it'll just do the same thing to the next msg

I could write many reasons why this app sucks!! It takes up way to much space, so many bugs in it, I was forced to install it. I would not have installed it but it's the only way I can get my message from Facebook!

I love the app and how I can use it for SMS as well, but there's only one thing keeping me from rating this app 5 stars. I am unable to see if someone has read a text message I have sent. If this is already a feature, would someone mind telling me how to turn it on? Thank you!

Using S7 Edge and a good internet connection but I cant recieve any messages right away. I tried messaging myself and then I discovered that the recent update is broken. I messaged myself but I did not recieved any message. Fix this please
