ExplorOz Traveller offers the best offline topo maps for the whole of Australia together with GPS navigation tools to create your own driving routes or use the inbuilt Treks for offline auto-guided routing to Australia's most iconic 4WD and caravan destinations.
When using ExplorOz Traveller in cities or suburban areas, simply use the online Streets & Paths maps for the best detail but when you go out into regional or remote areas, switch to the EOTopo maps for the best outback coverage. With the Premium Maps installed you'll be able to zoom into 144K scale maps without an internet connection.
As you drive, the Snail Trail will show the path of your last 50km of travel but if you want to save, download or share your entire trip route, get the in-app Track Logging option and even your family can track your trip on your very own tracking map they can access through a link to your private page on the ExplorOz website.
Extensive help for travellers is available in the clickable icons located in the map, whether you are online or offline enabling you to discover new places around you when you are out and about. There are over 85,000 Place POI's including free camps, paid campsites, caravan parks, stations stays, geographic places, infrastructure, towns, supply points, services, and other traveller-rated places of interest. Clicking the Place icons allow you to view more details, photos, traveller reviews, plus you can launch the navigator to take you to any Place(s) from your current position or add to your navigation plan.
This is the only app for outback Australia with Treks providing offline guided routing to safely get you to 180 of the best 4WD and camping destinations.
You can add your own Places, search for locations by address, and create trip plans for future use and best of all, if you don’t know what’s around you – you can view a list of Places or Treks nearby to your current position, and easily select one to find out more about it.

WHAT MAPS ARE AVAILABLE?
The app includes 3 online map options plus an offline topo map. Online maps are Streets & Paths, Satellite (© Mapbox © OpenStreetMap), and EOTopo (© ExplorOz © I.T. Beyond Pty Ltd). The offline topo map is EOTopo with 6 zoom levels. At full zoom, this provides a scale of approximately 1:2.3M. To access more detailed zoom levels in EOTopo offline you may need to purchase the Premium Offline Map Pack. This contains 4 files - a whole of Australia 577K map, plus 3 map files in the 144K scale for East, Central, and West. These can be downloaded in the app as required. At full zoom, the offline EOTopo map at 144K is the same level of high detail as available in the online view. Sufficient internal or SD card storage is required for these files, total 5.6GB. App does not require you to load all maps, so you can select just 1, 2 or all 3 of the 144K map sheets as needed.

This map is the best app based navigation aid that I have used. I particularly like the large control buttons and the uncluttered layout with adequate zoom levels. The trek feature that identifies nearest treks to your position and commencing from the nearest end is a great feature.

This app was released on 10 June 2016. On release, users of some devices, including me on my device, experienced significant stability problems that were not encountered in development. Within 24 hours those issues were fixed and released in V1.7.2 in the early hours of 11 June. Not a bad effort, EO Team!! I have found V1.7.2 to be 100% stable. It does what the designers said it would do and brings together into one package a number of desirable facilities that ExplorOz offers on its website. I am still learning, but already find that it is a great resource that helps me get the best out of all the travellers' facilities that the ExplorOz website offers. Since I wrote the above I encountered difficulties with the app properly tracking and uploading to EO under Android 5.0.2 up to app version 1.9.x. This issue has been addressed in V 1.10.0 and it now tracks and uploads to EO perfectly. If you had difficulties with the earlier versions you would be well advised to update to this version and try it again. It is quite excellent. Devices updated recently to Android 6.0.1 and app to V 1.11.2. Map screen now shows speed and heading and the app is rock solid stable.

Great program with very clear premium maps. It replaces TrackRanger and Memory Maps (with AUS TOPO maps and Western maps). I once considered them to be ideal for my exploration of Australia but ExplorOz Traveller is many times better and easier to use. I wish I had it when I did 5 months up the Queensland coast and across the Savanah Way last year and Western Queensland and down the centre this year. Being able to store maps on SD1 had teething problems on my Lenovo Tab but is now working well and is a big

I travel Oz for months at a time, visit home for a month and then head off again. I own every gps map app on the play store and this one is the best by far of all of them. Having offline capability helps me find those super remote stealth camping sites where no one else goes!

Just cant seem to get it do just a basic navigation & when it does decide to take you to the required place it travels straight over rivers oceans deserts mountains etc etc etc. Very disappointed. Wish l could get it to work as $60 paid & was happy to do that considering the ExplorOz history & reputation.

Initially I thought this was great but soon discovered you can't upload .gpx files. It is also very laborious to make your own route or trek as they are called on this app. You can make your own trek but nowhere near as simple as Hema Explorer or Memory Maps. Very disappointing. There are some good features but I will have to go back to Hema Explorer to share and create .gpx files with my fellow travellers.

I am a fulltime "grey nomad " have been travelling around Australia now for 6 years and have covered over 200,000 kms - a lot of this travel has been off road - i have been using another programme for that travelling but have now switched over to Traveller - great app - easy to use - intuitive - thoroughly recommend

Bought it for the offline map. The basic map is not good but the Premium Offline Map Pack is much better. Received a lot of help from ExplorOz to sort out problems with my Android Tablet.
