About aCoDriver 5
Turn your smart phone into a driving assistance system worth thousands! A co-driver that never sleeps!
The App:
* detects and monitors speed limits based on the built-in camera and known locations
* observes the distance to the traffic in front (distance control)
* warns you if the car tends to cross a closed lane road mark (lane assistant).
Specifically designed to distract the driver as little as possible.
The app requires the mobile phone to be attached to front shield or dashboard. A good holder and alignment are essential for a good detection rate. See http://www.acodriver-shop.com/ for a list of recommended accessories that give you optimal results.
This app was designed to detect signs in EUROPE ONLY, but was not tested in all countries in the EU. Also the detection rate depends a lot on your individual hardware.
Known limitations:
* Please be aware that visual recognition will never be 100% correct, and that the displayed speed limit might not be correct for the current situation.
* Most cameras used in current mobile phone have limited detection rate at night time or low light. Speed limits will still be displayed based on their known locations.
In the current version the detection of signs makes the following declaration: "The last speed limit I saw is ...."
Security advice!
* Never adjust the position of the mobile or the holder while driving!
* Never drive while looking through the display of your mobile!
* The displayed speed limit can be wrong or not appropriate to the situation.
Minimum Hardware Requirements:
* Android 5 or better
* Backside camera with 640x480 preview resolution
* ~ 40 MB disk storage
* Single Core CPU 1Ghz
* GPS

* Dual Core CPU or better

* GPS with GLONASS support

Its a great idea but doesnt work out in real usage. First off, the fact that it shows the live camera image is very distracting while driving and is unnecessary to show most of the info needed. Secondly it doesnt seem to understand city zone start/end sign as used in most of europe (for example Denmark and Germany). Finally it is too easily confused ny truck specific speed limits or the windshield wipers etc. Will try again at some point.

This app is amazing. the update is even able to detect sub-signs :-) and even more crazy it is able to detect the text on the conditional signs, like providing distances... didn't believe it was possible on a mobile phone. Also picking up the overtake warnings is very useful in my daily commute. When there are several speed limits on one location it is able to follow them all. you can see the tracking of the signs on the screen of the phone. looking forward to see more of aCoDriver, wondering what will come next. keep up the good work guys, you rock

Misses most of the speed signs and even reports GPS speed wrong or with big latency. Does try to identify lanes, but nowhere near what ionroad does. Also says I'm off road alot, even if I disabled the alert!! Try something else. This was a waste of time.

Sortof works. Does detect the lane and some speed signs. Says im doing 288kph when im doing 80kph. Cant read digital speed signs. GUI needs lots of work as it gets all messed up when speed signs get moved around instead of overwritten. Has some white boxes for some unknown reason. Ill try again when its updated and bugs removed.
