EverDrive™ - Safe Driving for Android
It works but the rating system needs to be fixed. I'll drive a 200 mile trip and because of one spot that I exceeded the speed limit, it rates the entire trip 1 star, despite having a perfect rating in every other category. The overall trip score should be the average rating of all the categories, and not determined by the lowest rating. It's a good idea and it's a great app. It doesn't drain my battery or have any adverse side effects. Fix the rating system and I might reinstall it.
App stopped recording when my phone updated to nougat. It will not record if the phone is on battery saver. Battery is full, but app states low battery/power save: trip recording limited. Hasn't recorded a trip since. "Limited" must mean "not going to". Time to uninstall. Was a novelty anyway.
Interesting idea, but it does not work. It does not acknowledge a single mile driven so I never get a score. I don't know if it had trouble detecting driving or what, but it has no "start driving" button. Thus I seem to be out of options to make this thing work.
It has its flaws, but I've come to like it as a handy tool to show where my driving skills could use improvement. I've also let it run while I'm a passenger to see how more experienced drivers skills compare to mine. With rare exception, I find it accurately senses the situation. I've not noted any issues with on ramps, nor with defensive braking.
This app doesn't read if you're speeding above 125mph. It reads up to 125 then defaults back to non speeding, so therefore it says I'm a "better driver" than I really am. Way to fail
Its a good app to see if you really are a "good textbook driver". It DOES incorporate real world application (acceleration, deceleration rates, "safe turn" g-force, etc). After studying my habits lately, I've noticed I use my phone more than I thought, but get penalized for poor placement when the phone moves accidentally. Only complaint after a few days use, is the GPS calculated speed is off a bit. I noticed several times today that the recorded speed was higher than my cruise control "set speed" while on flat ground. Could be rounding differences or the speedometer could be off (2017 f250, 7200mi, original tires), it was fairly windy today too.
Anyone who drives on a socal freeway is gonna get stars docked for braking because of other people cutting them off. I get a hard braking ding every day on my 25 mile commute because of other drivers; not because of poor driving habits. Shouldn't the advanced "algorithms" be able to tell the difference, or at least differentiate between trips and actual mileage travelled?
It docks you "phone distraction" for using GPS. Most if the time you can't even use Google Maps when app is running. Great idea, just not practical. Driving in the Houston area you have to break for other drivers stupidity and it docks you. Acceleration onto the freeway it docks you. Not a good real world app.
Good app, the UI is a bit to get used to & the app is a HUGE memory hog. (Tried to turn off bg data but no whenever phone tries to put it to sleep for battery, it comes back on w/ the notifications. I wish there was a way to ONLY have it running when I want it. I can remember to turn it on when driving. Also me using Google maps shouldn't count as phone distraction. I'm not texting or on the phone Otherwise good app. Fun competing with family who claim to be better drivers
This is probably more useful to new drivers. I average about 20k miles a year, and sometimes you need to accelerate hard when merging onto the highway, and turn sharply to keep traffic moving through congested intersections. I also get docked for using my phone to listen to music. What's the difference between using your phone and the radio for music?
I like the purpose of this app and it does encourage me to practice hands-free driving. I would like to compete against my friends, but I've been having difficulties adding friends. It seems that I can only invite friends. I may not find this app useful after awhile if I'm unable to compete against my friends.
It doesn't take into consideration your driving record. For example, I drive for a living. My record is spotless. I've avoided countless accidents and yet it rates me an 86% because I used a cell phone. It's OK for the kids I guess.
I like the app. It can, and if you really pay attention to your driving, it will make you a better and more conscientious driver. I rated it only 3 because it kills your battery with the use of the phones GPS. I'm afraid over time it will shorten the life of my non-replaceable Pixel XL battery.
Terrible... If I drove the way the app wanted me to drive, I would be the axxhole driver in Boston. Yes the speed limit is 55 but even people in the right lane are doing 75. Welcome to Boston
Good concept, but the way it rates each point is flawed. How do you manage harsh acceleration when you're fourth in line for a red light? How do you get hard turning on a gentle sweeping turn? How in the world do you get docked for harsh braking when you slowed to a stop by leaving your car in gear!?
This needs to be more user friendly. I found out through tapping the recent drives I can change between driver and passenger after the trip. This is cool, but there should be a button on the menu... (passenger or whatever)
The app is wonderful, however I have a few critizism, the app docks points too harshly for hard brakes and phone distractions. Sometimes you need to hard break espicially when there is a guy cutting you off or theres traffic jam on the freeway. For phone distraction, cant even if turn on the gps when the app is running.
It's a constant reminder to drive safely. I get one star on my 50 mile commute to and from work for keeping up with traffic. It did help me cut down on phone distractions once I became aware that it was a problem
My wife has always complained that I corner to aggressively, which I personally disagreed with. This app made me realize that she was right and now I'm scoring higher than her
Its a great idea but simply impractical. The idea behind this app is good because it is aimed at giving users the ablity to police their own driving. However, getting dinged points for going the flow of interstate traffic is not okay. For example, I drive an interstate route to go to town every day. The speed limit is 65mph. However, the flow of traffic is between 70-80mph. As we all should know from driver's ed, driving below the flow of traffic can be dangerous. Unless this issue is resolved for interstate driving, this app is no good for commuters who use the interstate on a daily basis. Uninstalling.
I find the reminders very educating when you think you are doing okay and yet there are points that you want catching or don't know that you are actually doing. It tends to make you more aware of your driving habits which is excellent! Congratulations on a app well-designed.
The scoring system isn't good. I go from a red light and get a "harsh acceleration" for 5 mph, also get "harsh cornering" for going 18 around a turn. So other than that it's a good app.
Works OK. Has a lot of bugs. Charges you when accelerating onto a freeway. Also does not always separate trips, even with 15 min between them. Also keep in mind, you get penalized when someone slams on their brakes for a turn without warning. Being a safe drive often times require making a decision on how best to avoid a situation. You can get a 100 for driving 30mph under the speed limit on a highway, and that is NOT safe!
got this before a road trip. my brother drove for three hours, and I was navigator. it docked me points for phone use. when I drove, he used my phone for navigation. did the same thing. Also it keeps rating my lyft drivers, buts that's pretty cool.
Probably one of the most legitimately useful apps in the marketplace. Great to help competitively motivate safer driving habits in a fun way. I wish it was a little more lenient on accelerating, cornering, and braking though... i have a sport compact lol.
Love the concept, but I don't think they're from the Bay Area. Get high 60's and low 70's due to breaking and acceleration in bumper to bumper traffic. I'm not writing it off just yet, but it's certainly not 5 stars. (The idea is though)
For sheeple! If you need an app to know if you're a good or bad driver then perhaps you should take public transportation and spend that screen time in support groups learning better driving methods. But, the app sure tap in to the drones and sheeple mentality offering the maker a source of revenue. Sad, really.
My phone was still in power saver mode so it wouldn't record anything. That seems like a design flaw because lots of people appear to have the same issue. The developers should fix that.
I only drive while I'm at work now I think that this is rating me when I take the train or riding my bike also, I think that if that could be improved it will be great. if I could actually start the process of monitoring my driving manually when I'm actually in the company vehicle it would be more accurate otherwise my rating is going to get thrown off every time I am moving but not actually driving or not actually in a vehicle. if you guys were to improve that it'll be great plus when the line is a color other than green, what did it mean?
It's not a bad idea for an app. I think it has the potential of making good drivers out of everybody. It does have quite a few flaws. Today I was a passenger while my wife is driving and my score dropped because I didn't select myself as passenger quick enough so I got dinged for her bad driving habits. So if you're going to use this app and take it seriously you need to realize that before you get into the car you have to label yourself as a driver or passenger.
Won't record a trip, even after several trips totalling 200 miles. Even rebooted the phone. Keeps showing notification... "Low battery/power save: trip recording limited".
Overall is a nice concept. It docks you for using a mapping app, driving in bumper to bumper traffic (docks for breaking which is a given in heavy traffic), and when you are stopped on the side of the road looking at directions. Can be a cool app except for the above.
I think this is the best app out there. I have read babies saying it needs to understand flow of traffic, guess what that is not the law of the limit is 65 and everyone is doing 75 that is illegal plain and simple. Now there are a few things that need to be improved, one passager, mode so you don't get dinged for bad driving. Another would be a better interface and understanding that sometime braking hard is a necessary evil, it should ask why if it sees you not driving like that for weeks on end and now you have done that, give a reason why and have it count towards your score. The other thing is taking off at a light should be adjusted a little sometimes you have to make a fast left turn and it is not an arrow controlled light. This app has made me a better driver for sure and the 99.7 to 99.9 up from 70's prices it.
Couldn't detect gps and then never recorded any trips, saying battery was low when I arrived home, although phone was plugged in the entire time and above 60% (78%). Will give it one more try on a fully charged battery and if it doesn't record, will uninstall. Okay, that it !!!Couldn't take the constant notification that my gps wasn't activated while I was home using my WiFi and I turned off notifications in the app. Just effing annoying app. Uninstalled.
Love the App! I travel on Los Angeles freeways everyday and so far managed to keep a 98%! Loved reading a few hints about braking and such. I like that i can still use my navigation without being docked for it, sort of a necessity in LA. My only complaint is that it needs to be a little more accurate. I have been docked for cell phone usage while at McDonalds and sitting work. Fix this and would be 5 stars!
This app is awesome. Seems to be very accurate also. Very useful to see where your driving needs improvement. I am a delivery driver locally and like tasty it tells me all information when driving between stops. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the phone use rating goes by your screen being on or off. I listen music on u tube a lot and you have to keep your screen lit to listen. It always gives me a poor rating then. Should be adjusted do that music is classified as phone use. Otherwise a GREAT app.
I was behind a drunk driver going 20 in a 35. Said I was doing 40. How when I can't reach over 20mph
The app is pretty cool that it scores your driving but the app drains too much battery while operating in the back ground. I'm going to wait until the next upgrade for the app, if it continues to drain my battery I will have to delete it.
Battery drain. Also isnt very useful with cars with lidar tech that drive on their own and brake like mofos. Will certainly install it for normal car driving.

It's a cool idea and almost everything is great. The UI could be improved but that's my smallest complaint. I constantly get docked for speeding on the highway. Yes the speed limit may be 65 but to keep up with traffic you have to drive 75-80. I feel like they should be able to tell how fast the freeway traffic is moving around me and base my speeding off of other Everdrive users on my route. Everything else I feel is really great! Definitely a must have.
