About Galway Xmas Market
Ireland’s longest running Christmas Market, the Galway Continental Christmas Market, returns to its home in Eyre Square, Galway City, from Friday 22nd November until Sunday 22nd December 2013. Now in its fourth year, the Galway Continental Christmas Market – which is presented by the Galway City Business Association – launches the festive season in Ireland, as it is the earliest Christmas Market to open in the country.
Building on the successful format of previous years, the market is a hive of activity with lots of entertainment promised. Over fifty traders from all over Ireland and Europe will be selling a host of crafts, festive food, treats and Christmas gift ideas, while the expected audience of up to 650,000 market-goers can also enjoy a live entertainment programme throughout the month-long event.
Among the many popular features making a welcome return to the market is the music stage; hosting choirs and carol singers, children’s workshops, amusements and, of course, Santa! Last year over 15 local charities got involved in these programme elements, raising vital funds at the same time. Always a draw, the large German Bierkeller will return to the heart of the market offering a wide range of traditional fine German Beers, Oktoberfest activities and Lederhosen!
The Galway Continental Christmas Market 2013 will run from Friday 22nd November to Sunday 22nd December 2013, opening from 12pm – 8pm (bars open until 9pm) each Monday to Wednesday and from 10am – 10pm Thursday to Sunday.
