About Symbhav 2015
This is the official android app of Symbhav, Pune's largest cultural festival!
Symbhav began as a vision shared by some of our most illustrous alumni in 2009 as a platform to showcase the underrated cultural and extra-curricular talent of Symbiosis Law School, Pune. Law colleges in India are often typecast as being extremely career-oriented and all about the work. Not much has changed for SLS Pune since then as is evident from our steady rise to being the 4th best law college in India today however, what changed in 2009 was that along with academics, the constant effort by our past students gave birth to the ultimate form of the college student community’s expression that is ‘Symbhav’. In 2009 in its first edition itself, Symbhav received an overwhelming response from all of the other colleges in not only Pune but India as a whole, making the first edition a resounding success. More significantly, Symbhav brought the students of the college as well as other colleges together in a way that nothing ever had before. It covered a wide enough variety of genres to ensure that the staunchly academic let their hair down a little, and the overly flamboyant begin to take some responsibility. For the last 5 years, with every edition Symbhav has gone from strength to strength, growing in scale, reach and meaning. In fact, some might say it even started a trend. Prior to Symbhav very few law colleges held fests but post Symbhav's success and the mainstream attention it brought to the college and its various initiatives, a number of law colleges including the top National Law Schools have begun to institute their own college fests. As far as ‘Symbhav’ goes, it features a wide variety of events ranging from conclaves, quizzes, debates, legal events to sports, theatre, music & fine arts events, thus cementing itself in the college fest calendar as the ultimate three-day melting pot of diversity, endeavor and creativity. Top-draws at Symbhav are the band face-off aptly named “For Those About To Rock”, the War of the DJs, the fashion show and the group dance competition.
Symbhav is also no stranger to celebrity, having played host to persons of renown from every walk of life. Music events have been the forte of fest, with the ‘Pro-nites’ being its biggest draws. Hugely popular artists including Indian Ocean, Parikarma, Junkyard Groove, Jalebee Cartel, Them Clones, Advaita, Sivamani, Agam, Avial, Agnee, Cyanide, Navin Kumar, Niladri Kumar, Inner Sanctum, The Color Compound & Nucleya have all headlined ‘Symbhav’ Pro-nites playing to packed audiences over 600 strong with the final Pro-nite seeing numbers closer to 2000. This year, Symbhav 2015 promises to be legitimately bigger in terms of scale with the campus shifting from S.B Road to its sprawling new address in Vimaan Nagar. Come 2015, we hope to raise the bar even higher than before and set a new standard for college festivals in Pune.
