Eurosport Player for Android
Using this app again after giving up for a year. Chromecast support has finally arrived but it is very patchy, seems to work okay for live TV but not always for the on demand stuff. Sometimes you get the notification sometimes not. It still frustrates me greatly that not all the races in season are available on demand. WTCC and Rally Raid for example.
For reasons I can't fathom, you took away the xbox version so I'm forced onto chromecast. Live TV works great but playback of other stuff is where the problems start. Quite often just a row of dancing dots and a black TV screen. Sometimes if you flick to another app and flick back again, it forgets what's playing on the chromecast. Netflix and Amazon support all platforms!
I took a chance despite the negative reviews and it works very well on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 so far. The only gripe is that if you pause for a while or come out of the app, it doesn't hold your place if you are watching backdated videos, which becomes fiddly and annoying if you fail to remember where you were up to. So a fix for that issue would be great. Otherwise, it has been excellent.
I watch for the cycling and it's much improved, but ... WHY THE SHORT VIDEOS WHICH GIVE AWAY THE RESULTS IN THEIR TITLE? Who does that? And they pop up as notifications too. If you could sort that out, you'll seem like a real broadcaster. Just call them "highlights" and don't show the winner crossing the line in the thumbnail either.
Not the best picture quality for a 720p stream. It would also be handy to be able to rewind 3 hours like you can on a laptop. Good for the offer price I paid but I would have been disappointed if I had paid the regular price.
Video freezes every 5 seconds and jumps back to earlier points in video all the time. I've tried my phone, laptop, girlfriends macbook and three different browsers. DL speed on wifi is 35/s. A cable connection doesnt help either. This regularly combined with ads every 5 minutes in Biathlon makes me now take to your customer service for a full refund. I don't understand how you can ask €6.99 for a month of service that really doesn't deliver what it promises.
Anytime I look at the TV schedule, the app crashes & closes. Would be great if the TV schedule was in the users timezone. The catch up used to be better on the Ski Jumping but now it's a 30second clip. The live footage is good though.
Very poor choice of sports they cover. Bike or ski or snooker... All of those are really not interesting. I would like more tennis, volleyball, basketball.
Previous instability problems seem to have been sorted as the app has been much more stable the last few months. The app and Chromecast have both been working well. However the on demand videos are badly labeled and difficult to tell which is which and on what date they relate.
Total waste of money. There are far better streaming options available than this pathetic attempt. Ridiculous delays on on demand replay. Constant spoilers in the titles or when you open the app and the channel is running in the background.
Slick presentation, fast playback and useful features. Would appreciate more HD playback options, minimum should be1080p. With 4K TV sets becoming more common, 720p doesn't cut it anymore. Otherwise great app :)
Having trouble streaming on Chromecast. Have great connectivity on my laptop then the stream To CC is awful - maybe hardware related. Otherwise great app!
Chromecast supported. Lots of improvement in the app. But the quality of stream is poor, it frequently lags and freezes. This way the races are unwatchable :(
For mobile - the web player isnt as good. I wish the archives had 720p as 404p is awful on anything bigger than my phone
The app contains bugs, and there are more problems with in-app content (meta-data) and server side errors, especially with additional channels (other than eurosport1 or 2), which become unreachable during events. Latest version 3.4.4 introduced more bugs. Support is ignorant. We'll hardly see any fixes. And they show ads in on- demand videos!!!
I use Eurosport player from my phone (Android 6.0), tablet 1 (4.4.2), tablet2 (5.1.1), and from my win10 laptop. Others work on, but tablet2 has recently started to crash after couple of minutes when playing Eurosport. No problem on viaplay. Live streaming quite on, though buffers more than viaplay. Playing recorded videos is typically pain. Mobile app sort of works, but laptop often just stops (opening another tab and YouTube etc do work). This happens especially when dragging timeline with mouse to jump over something. Which brings me to last thing on my mind: player really could do with +/- some sec/min jumping both to live and recorded videos. Yes, timeline is available but either it doesn't work or it is just too inaccurate to use.
Have recently subscribed again and the app works well for live TV on PC, Android and Fire TV stick BUT and it's a huge BUT, the catchup videos give away the result in their titling meaning you know what has happened before you even go into the video. Sort this out, Eurosport.
To add to all aforementioned user comments and reviews, is it so difficult adding the choice of language used in events broadcast???!!
Hi, I'm very unhappy with Eurosport at this time, I bought the app in the belief that it was to be withdrawn from Sky, and the way it was worded it looked like a sure thing. So I feel let down by this cohesion. But it was a good deal. What makes matters worse, I can not use the internal smart view for casting provided by Samsung software for free, instead you only make it possible by Google Chromecast which is £30, making the discount on eurosport app void for me. I ask you please help me solve this problem without spending more money, I will not spend £30 on chromecast. thank you. With regards Michael Henry
1 star is reduced due to multiplayer subscription which is way too complicated.
Horrible tennis highlight clips, today match point highlight didn't have play at all!! So difficult to navigate around! Replay takes 2 days to get uploaded!! How the hell do you think I can catch with Australian open from UK!! Total waste of money on one year subscription.
I opened the app to catch up on a few days cycling, and saw the most recent stage just as it finished, completely ruined the result for me!
App works good. Still a bit room for improvement. For instance check out the programs for the next day or even the previous day is difficult. Viaplay is much better in that respect.
Works well, subject to the limitations of my wireless network. The ability to cast to my TV would be convenient but I don't have or want a Chromecast device.
Love it it only station I can watch my tennis on my big tablet thank you nice price for a year love winter sports as well only 19.99 year deal was just right for me I'm disable don't get out much anymore telly I watch thank euro sports
Turns out while I can access the service from PC, I can't do it from the app in my country. I don't get that, one subscribes to the Player mainly for its portability, what's the point of being able to watch on PC and not the app?
returned to esp.player for videos on demand and recordings of missed live events, but the current version of the app is unusable... frequent buffering even on very fast broadband connections, low quality options only for some videos, random commentaries languages with no posibility to change... come on Eurosport, this is a paid service???
Works well on my android, could do with more features though, like being able to resume watching a video from the point you stopped and also downloading videos would be good Doesn't work well on my windows pc though, freezes a lot.
Fantastic app, I've only had buffering issues once and it works perfectly with Chromecast.
The app doesn't show the Chromecast icon at all.. even though it's supported
I'm quite impressed with this app, especially with the current 19.99 annual subscription offer you have on until 31/01/17. One minor improvement might be for the app to remember its one and only Settings option! I would like to permanently force the resolution to be 720p rather than Auto (even if that means more chance of buffering), but every new stream resets it back to Auto...grrr!
Unacceptable App for a very good service like Eurosport. It is a shame to provide this App. The streaming simply doesn't work sometimes.
I've only had this for a couple of days and still finding my way around. Picture quality good. Sometimes the commentary is not transmitted which detracts from the event.
Just brilliant. New version available! DOWNLOAD... Your device isn't compatible with this version. Now what? Buy a new tablet!
Keeps freezing when I watch on my phone, and keeps disconnecting when I try and cast.
Should be a free trail without signing in
I would give this 5 stars, but half the time the videos don't work. Logging out and back only sometimes fixes it. Playing videos on the PC version works fine. So what's up with the android app? Please fix!!
Setup was OK, but the video freezes or crashes every 15 minutes or so, leaving just audio. You then have to through settings to change the resolution and then back again. It is an irritating app. Also occasionally just drops right out.
When watching from mobile device... why this LIVE TV TV SCHEDULE VIDEOS... All channels thing keeps dimming the screen? I would like to see the live stream... not the menu.

This was a five star app, because it worked perfectly, but it's now just worth two, because it's broken... Live broadcasts cast to Chromecast with no problems, but the video catchup archive content will only play on my phone or tablet - when I try to cast, I get the white on red Eurosport logo on the TV, and 4 little dots moving in a wave pattern on my phone/tablet,and that's it... I've asked for support, but no tech response yet. The TV app worked well, but they pulled it, and now there's this issue.
