ES Chromecast plugin

Did something change as it used to work great and now it doesn't give an option to select my chromecast device and the screen goes black. Even when I tap the screen and select chromecast nothing happens. It's not the video as I can play them with local cast without issue I've uninstalled/reinstalled both the ES plugn and ES File Explorer but it didn't help. I'm running a Note4 (Andriod 5.1.1) It worked fine before the last update.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S - I used to love using the ES File Manager to navigate to and cast videos from my network drive. I used it for months and loved the ease. But now it no longer casts (or gives an option to cast) and all I get is either a black screen or a paused video.

Used to be able to cast now it never brings up window to select Chromecast. The Chromecast does nothing. Just plays the video on my phone. Basically works as if I never installed the plug in. Only way it functions is to cast via screen mirror which will obviously kill my battery and be pointless cause I could just watch it on my phone at that point. Stupid. Only reason I bought a Chromecast. Get what you pay for. $30 is a novelty that works with basically nothing.

Granted it froze and hung a few times, I presume that's something to be remedied in the upcoming updates. Aside from that, I'm just glad I can play locally saved movies and music on my tv... I'll provide more details as I use it more. Makes one of my favorite and most used apps even more useful so I'm optimistic.

This plug-in works off and on. Not at all consistent. Even when playing the same video file that previously worked, the second or third time you attempt to play it, there will be a pop up error message informing you that the video is not compatible. Note: I also do have ES File Explorer installed on my phone.

I've used this plugin for quite some time and it recently stopped casting. When I choose my file the pop-up menu asks how I want to use the file, the regular es file explorer still works like a charm, but the file doesn't play on my TV when I select the es Chromecast player. It seems to be a communication problem. I have no problem casting my phone screen to the TV so I believe the plugin is the problem.

Picture jpg file viewer is clunky. Tried to go through folder of photos and it took forever to load each individual photo. Need way to be able to scroll through photos and choose the one you want. It tries to bring up every photo in order and can take a minute to catch up.

I used this to view mp4 video files on one night, without any problem. However, the next night it simply wouldn't cast & still won't. I have removed it & reinstalled it repeatedly, but when I try to cast any video file, it just shows a black screen on my phone & nothing is cast to the Chromecast. A shame, but it now appears to be broken :-(

I thought the chromecast could have done this by default. Fnding out that it didn't. There weren't too many options out there. This one does exactly what I originally intended to use the chromecast for. Although there are some hiccups with some file types, lately it has been playing without issue.

Hot on the heels of my 5 star rating for ES File Explorer, the ES Chromecast plugin has stopped working. As soon as a movie is selected and ES Chromecast Player is selected from the dropdown, the screen goes black. Update: The problem appears to be with the latest versions of ES File Explorer, not ES Chromecast. If you have this problem just Google "ES File Explorer" earlier versions and download the version 4.0.4.7 APK file to the SD card on your android. Uninstall any existing version of ES File Explorer late than this on your phone. Use any other file explorer to navigate to the SD card on your phone and click the APK file and let it install. All will be well.

This was working ok on my galaxy s5 untill a recent update. Now it just gives a black screen. ... very very disappointing that they could just break it like that

It hs stopped working, tried on several phones and with several different chromecasts. Probably due to some chromecast update, I'm sure they're already working on it so dont panic. Also, it's free! will change rating to 5 stars when it works again, please keep us posted.

No issues with the app except for some lag issues. But I'm sure you'll fix that with some optimization. The main problem is the player controller in the notification bar. Doesn't close even after I've exited the app. Add avi support URGENTLY! Please fix this for 5 stars

I should have given it a good rating when it worked, now it doesn't work. When it works again I'll give it a 5star rating! When I attempt to cast a video nothing happens, with videos that used to work. Now I have to cast my screen and play a video, and my phone gets hot and the side buttons don't go away. Nexus6.

Got my file server configured but this just hangs when I try to cast a video. I can stream videos to my Android device and cast using other devices, but I can't cast with this. I found a chrome extension that can cast local files from my PC and am trying that.

Tried it again today and still nothing. What is the deal? You updated it and broke the connection to the chrome cast. Come on it can't be that hard. It has been months since it worked.

I'm just not able to cast my videos on my PC which I browse through LAN. Only bought a Chromecast to be able to cast through ES but it's been quite frustrating. Have been using the Videostream app & it's extremely smooth & simple. Only reason I'm persevering with ES is my familiarity & loyalty to the platform which is waning fast as there's been no response to my email to the tech team about this either

This has been my favorite app for casting video from my home server. Unfortunately, after updating the firmware on my router, ES Chromecast can no longer find any of my Chromecast devices. They do work with other chromecast apps so I'm at a loss as to what went wrong.

Perhaps a chromecast firmware update is to blame. Like others have mentioned, now redirects from a win share spin indefinitely and then gives an error. Sometimes starts with a retry, but very occasionally. Also some awkward bugs in other aspects, but much more minor than this. Please fix samba share casts.

Couldn't get it to cast using Chromecast audio. It now appears the cast functionality is broken with Google Cast -- 5/12/2016 I removed this plugin along with the main app. Es file explorer now brings Adware to your Lockscreen.

I've been using this to play media from NAS to Chromecast. Unfortunately since a recent Android update, Chromecast no longer works at all. Other apps use Chromecast just fine. Reinstalling es file explorer doesn't work. I'm using nexus7 with official Android.

The app used to work and now doesn't. Not exactly an improvement. Claims the format of the video is not supported, but the previous version played the same format just fine.

Used to love this app for casting...last update killed it. When you click on chromecast the pop up that allowed you to select your chromecast no longer appears, I think it's under the video overlay but I'm not sure. Please fix, I'll give 5 stars when fixed. File & folder management is still great.

Not casting at all after update. Will change once fixed. Even before this it does NOT support mkv sound, or play avi files at all. Even mp4 is a hit or a miss. It is nice when it works, but I do not see much effort into making it work further. Thank goodness I don't pay for this app, and would probably write my own if I had the time, but alas I need to develop other applications for money....

I am no longer able to cast anything other then YouTube to my TV. This app worked 100% not so long ago and photos or videos over my LAN were no problem

Worked straight away and is tons better at casting than plex or playto. Only gripe is doesn't support. Avi. Really easy on chromecast why can't others be so simple?..

I used to really like this app, as it will do more than most others. BUT I'm not sure what has changed with firmware on the Chromecast but lately when I try to stream using this plugin it freezes on the Chromecast. No splash screen appears, sometimes it will work after 8-10 tries.

How do you guys make money? Devs? I love everything you guys make, best file manager, no adds, it's not paid and nothing about donation.I don't know what I would do without Es File Explorer and I love this app, most of the ones on the play store are crap. Is there a way I can donate?

I keep reading about people complaining because this app won't cast their avi movie files. Chromecast will only play mp4 format movies...its a limitation of Google's program, not this app. I suggest that you do a search here for an app called Format Factory. You can easily use this to reformat your avi files into mp4 files. It also gives you many other audio and video reformatting options, and can increase the functionality of this app immensely.

I got very excited when I saw Es File Explorer listed as one of the compatible apps with the new chromecast products. I bought the chromecast audio with the intention of streaming my network stored audio files to my speakers. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. I do see the chromecast listed as available, but when I click on it nothing happens. I have emailed their customer support a week ago with no response so far. I am giving it 2 stars since I am still able to browse and play these files on my phone!

Does not work. When trying to push image to Chromecast, there is a small dialog that popups briefly, but notting happens. Other apps can cast without issues so my Chromecast is working.

This app is incredibly convenient. Well done! Some file formats don't work yet but still, totally 5 stars

This seems to work the best of the various players I've tries that are capable of casting to the Chromecast. The one thing missing (unless it's just that I've not found it) is the ability to set a bookmark for the video file. Hopefully that will be added soon and I can change this to a 5 star rating.

Google Chromecast only supports mp4 files. Its not es file fault google hasnt added more depth with video and the ability to play avi and mkv. Es file explorer has done what no other company really has and thats a good chromecast plugin. Also with new songs, etc through es. You have to click the more icon to go to chromeast. Its like somebody expects es file explorer to read your mind and decide what to do with a file. It amazes me how little effort and research reviewers put into anything. Great app

I have a 2tb HDD attached to a pi on my network, I can browse the mp3 on the HDD I can play them on my nexus 7, I want to be able to cast them to my Chromecast audio, the plug in sees the Chromecast but does not seem to work

This plugin used to work perfectly. Now it doesn't. After locating my MP4 file, ES File Manager asks which plugin I'd like to use to play the file, I select this plugin, it sees my chromecast, but then just goes black on my phone and doesn't stream to my TV. I've refreshed my network, refreshed my chromecast, reinstalled the plugin....nothing. I sent a request for help about a month ago and have yet to hear a response. It's a shame...used to be one of my most used tools.

The chrome cast part work very well and now it doesn't work plz fix again and again til it's working, I'm using a note 5 by samsung and it worked on this phone no problems, and the same on my samsung tab s 10.5 and same nothing. Fix fix fix plz and I also bought the pro it worked 1 time.
