eStories - Audiobooks for Android
App works really well!
I had trouble with this app at first, but as soon as I posted a less than favorable review, i heard from customer service who tried to help me back it better. The app still only gets 4 stars from me, but the customer service gets a full 5.
Like that you can download as mp3
The app keeps crashing, the search engine is weird(ex. I searched for "maze runner", there were no result. I tried "mazerunner", there were results. The title of the book is "The Maze Runner"), and a lot of big titles are not available. After I used up all my 3 months that I paid for, I will cancel my subscription. Paying a few more bucks for Audible is worth it.
Not usable as a player due to the inability to control the playback speed in small increments. Choices are 1, 1.5 or faster; completely stupid. Update - app has been updated to allow playback at 1.25 speed - great improvement.
My only real gripe about the app is lack of Android Auto support. My car is the primary location I listen to audio books. Being able to view the book information and pause the book without picking up my phone is very convenient. Especially having come from Audible which does offer this.
I started listening to audibooks with Audible in 2010 and listened to dozens so far. Happy to be able to switch away from them to eStories. What I really appreciate about eStories is the ability to stream without having to load a 200mb book to my device. Always found what I searched for.
Found all the books I wanted right away, the player's got some nice controls featured that I like. I'm on my fourth book so far this has been v. good
I have only listened to one book with it, but when paused and restarted, it takes off from random points. I won't be using it any more.
Login fixed but it automatically closes the app for no reason at random. It's really annoying especially when I'm trying to listen in the car.
This app still has improvements to make but it is improving quickly and the customer service is unparalleled!
Doesn't have free audio books. False advertising.
Update: Still same issues with proper audio support, pausing when getting a call, etc. Rating lowered and sub cancelled. Original: Occasional audio blip but not to the point of distraction. The real issues are what audio apps absolutely need to do: pause on calls, mute/pause on notifications, support for audio controls via BT (major gap) and the icing would be Android Auto support. I'll be happy to update my review when these are fixed!
Could be better. Can't download books to SD card. Can't adjust playback speed in small increments (it's either normal speed or stupidly fast). But the books I have are good, and it does play them.
Maybe just the book I'm listening to but there are no chapter titles.. and the book DOES have chapter titles. It would make it a lot easier to skip around
This app literally won't even open. And I've tried cancelling my subscription I don't know HOW many times. Don't download this app, trust me.
I can not get ot to work. Have had issues in the past now nothing works. I emailed support no respone not happy.
I have not had any issues with this app. It functions perfectly...so far, so good
I can't get my book to start. It keeps saying "chapter not found"
App crashes all the time. There are glitches in the audio. Loses your spot in the book. Chapters are divided into approx. 5 min sections at the end of each it pauses momentarily and has an audio glitch. And sometimes it would just remove the book im listening to from my library. Overall, its a very poorly made app.
Will charge you before your 30 days are up and you can not cancel on the app you have to go on a computer. They take their time getting back to you about it too. Easy to search price option lots of great new books and great authors
I've been listening to audiobooks for years and it's great to finally have an alternative to Audible. Not only is eStories $3 less per month, but you get DRM-free copies of the audiobooks you buy and can even upload and play audiobooks you already own for free. They have a large selection of books, with all the bestsellers, and the app is simple and easy to use. I did run into some early technical issues and crashes, but eStories support was able to help me out. Update: I've been using eStories for a few months now and have seen some nice improvements including sleep timer and adjustable playback speeds. Haven't seen the app crash again either.
Great app for audiobooks.
Update: I was required to reactivate my membership to get my estories back. A definite negative. I now have one months credit on my account that I will possibly never use because it was on the eMusic side. And I don't buy music. Furthermore, I am so unimpressed with this app! The story pauses randomly. Sometimes it just crashes and I have to restart it. I never have this trouble with audio books from audible. I have also discovered that the genre I listen to has had very few additions. All telling.
Good selection of readers.
I have listened to 2/3's of Jodi Picoult's "sing you home". The book is great but for some reason now it won't play. I have tried to start it from the beginning and tried other chapters bit it's just stuck and won't play at all. How do I fix this?
Love the rewind function after a pause to remind you where you are. It does spontaneously close on occasion but it's still a great listening app and have recommended it to others. Keep it up guys!
I like the selection and, when it's not blipping and skipping, the audio quality is good. Also, the books keeps playing even when a call is received, or using voice commands
It is much better choice than amazon. Love it
L like it but l dont like how it transition to the next chapter leave me feeling like l am missing something
We are enjoying.
Had loved to be away from audible but the fact this app looses it's place constantly without even a way to manually bookmark makes this a non usable app. I'll consider a rating change when that major glaring fault is fixed.
App will not allow me to sign in. I can browse, but all account specific functions cause an instant crash. Unusable.
Good price and selection, but the audiobook player is unusable. It loses your place constantly, doesn't react to pause/play button on headphones, there is no widget, and more issues. Stick to audible.
Doesn't work. It plays for a short period and then quits with a 51016 error, whatever that is.
The majority of my issues have been resolved with the latest updgrade!
The greatest application in the field of audio books I've ever used! Love it!
It's More Affordable Than Amazon Audible
Crashes immediately upon opening

Great app for audio books!
