Collector for ArcGIS for Android
There are so many uses for this app.
Useful app for soil sample testing
Useful tool for many applications
So nice
Great potential in the app but the load is too slow and zooming likewise even on WiFi. Believe this is an AGOL issue, but it needs to be better at both for client demonstrations.
Used this app for 6 days a week 5 months straight while inspecting transmission powerlines from helicopter. I havent had a single sync issue with attachments and attributes. If you're using cellular data to sync you can run into issues but that isn't collectors fault, its a cellular bandwith issue. I did notice the app does crash from here and there but not often enough to hamper my work and I had the App running for 10 -12 hours a day. It would only crash once or twice a day with heavy use. For people having issues with the APP crashing, don't cheap out on hardware like your tablet. Good hardware makes all the difference when in the field. I use a galaxy s2 which runs the application really well.
Every time I open it it opens up on a switch account screen and is painfull to get it to to work. Not user friendly
New update is bad - keeps GPS active even when app is running in background!
Can't go 20 minutes without crashing, very frustrating
Dynamic and robust. Great for the ArcGIS gurus!
Crashes often
Conflict
It is so nice
Superb app
For some reason in offline mode this app lags stops and restarts often. Also every so often the user's position is not updated for several minutes. A message pops up saying that a connection is needed even when there's a strong wifi signal. It sometimes insists on trying to get "all" instead of "on device" when latter is specified. With a strong data connection, or offline when the above isn't happening, this app rocks for data collection. If it wasn't so glitchy, I'd give it 5 stars easily.
I find this crashes a lot when trying to open a map. The locked to portrait orientation on my phone, a samsung s4, is a huge disappointment, almost a dealbreaker. Please auto rotate or let the user choose!! The minimalist interface with lack of user controlled options is also off putting, so this is ok...just.
App only uses landscape mode on my new galaxy tab a. Would be great if it could rotate. Have used on my university's i pad minis and it runs in portrait view on there, not sure why the android version is different.
Great in theory, always gives me a million errors when trying to download maps. I fix one error and and a day later, another error appears.
Find the syncing of attachments (photos) very hit and miss when using a webmap on AGOL that has a secured service layer within the webmap (from arcserver 10.21). Works very well for attribute only data, however each time it fails to post the attachments and offers a retry option, this results in several point locations being added to the map for each retry. Update: Resolved this issue within IIS as there was a limit on the size of attachments being uploaded to our arcgis server, so Collector works as it should.
Can't set date later than 1900, creates major issue when adding data for cemeteries.
This works very well for the most part but I have been experiencing difficulty with downloading a new basemap recently. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and cleared data but nothing is working. Please fix this.
Locked orientation is a huge deal breaker! Speced this app for data collection and need it in portrait orientation for tablet mounting.
Difficult to edit line features, zoom extent is also lock
Crashes constantly and delete information with most crashes
Can seem to find a connection when I have service connectivity . Samsung s6.
I have 44 new data points. Won't sync at all
Very bad to showing real accuracy
Update compass in map which shows north direction
Its a good tool. Just wish it had some more training options
Very Nice App giving more information.
Waiting on 10.4
ArcGIS collector works pretty good. No issues yet.
Super
Orientation is locked to portrait or landscape depending on device. 4.5" Samsung s5 - portrait. 7" Samsung tab 2 - landscape. 8" LG gpad - portrait. Both layouts have pros and cons for workflows so the orientation should be up to the users discretion. Multi window mode should be allowed. Also, issues working with domain drop downs (auto hiding, cutoffs, # of values visible).
When I try to reconcile/post/delete versions from working offline it creates replicas which must be manually deleted from the database samsung galaxy s5 android 5.0
Crash crash crash. Open a map? Crash. Wake up device while collecting a long line feature to complete it? Crash. Sync? Crash.

I've been using the Collector app for awhile, and have found it to be like most other ESRI products: Alternatively amazing and frustrating. The good: * Integration with ArcGIS online is fantastic. It's great to be able to collect data, add photos, and then have it show up online 2 seconds later. * Relatively intuitive. Field staff have no problem using it. * Downloading maps for offline use has been great, especially since we operate in many areas that have poor/no cell phone service. The bad: * Takes forever to sync over a network connection. * You must define the map download areas, and can't collect data outside of that set area. * You can't zoom in beyond the defined detail for a downloaded maps. Want to see where your new point is relative to the last one? Nope. * Map downloads are limited to 1 GB of data, even if your device has the space. The ugly: * Attachments won't always sync, and sometimes have to be added to ArcGIS Online manually. * Domains will sometimes refuse to display, instead showing up as integer input. * No data can be collected in 3D feature classes. The app will let you fill out the data as normal, but refuses to save.
App will not sync with ArcGIS online with picture attachments. Crashes constantly or won't load maps from Arc GIS online. Needs work before it can be taken seriously.

I am running the app on a Samsung s6 android device and whenever I attempt to edit a field...I get an error saying "collector has stopped". Then I need to refresh to see map again. Can't edit.
