ANMM’s HMAS Vampire tour for Android
The HMAS Vampire is Australia's largest museum vessel and the last of the country's big gun ships. A Daring class destroyer launched in 1956, Vampire is on permanent display at the National Maritime Museum in the heart of Sydney’s CBD at Darling Harbour. These powerful ships were designed for high-speed operation and to provide gunfire support to the fleet. Visitors can walk through the vessel and imagine life onboard, view the crucial workings of the ship, then experience Action Stations in 'A' Gun Bay and listen to recordings of former Vampire sailors' experiences at sea.
The audio, images and interviews in this tour bring to life incredible stories from Vampire during its service in the Royal Australian Navy from 1959 to 1986. When you board the vessel look for the self-guided tour numbers for items discussed on the tour. As you are free to roam the vessel from any of the numerous access points you can utilize the tour any way you wish.
