বাংলা সনের ব্যবহার এখন আর পূর্বের পর্যায়ে নেই। নাগরিক জীবন যাপনের পরিধি বৃদ্ধি পাওয়ায় এর ব্যবহার এখন কেবল কৃষিজীবীদের মধ্যেই সীমাবব্ধ হয়ে পড়েছে। কৃষিজীবীরা এখনো বীজতলা তৈরী, বীজ বপন, ফসলের যত্ন, ফসল তোলা ইত্যাদি যাবতীয় কাজে বাংলা মাসের ব্যাপক ব্যবহার করেন। ব্যবসায় ব্যবস্থায় পূর্বের সেই বাংলা সন ভিত্তিক হিসাব ব্যবস্থা এখন গ্রেগরীয় বর্ষপঞ্জী নির্ভর হয়ে পড়েছে। যার ফলে ব্যবসায়ের হিসাবের খাতা এখন রাষ্ট্রের আইনে যাকে সহজভাবে গ্রহণ করে সে পদ্ধতিতে রাখা হয়। ষাট বা সত্তর দশকেও যে হালখাতা দেখা যেতো উৎসবের মতন করে, তা দিনে দিনে ফিকে হতে হতে প্রায় মিলিয়ে যেতে বসেছে।
