Vault 3 Outliner (Free) for Android
My ultimate outliner. Simple. Very professional. Cross - platform sync!
Not intuitive
I started using this apparently not 2 days ago and immediately fell in love with it. I love the way it store information and the ease of access to get to that information. RECOMMENDED!!
Tabular data support and stability (Priority) in RAM (Password has to be entered again after some hours) is also desired.
The ability to import and export! For an open source app this seems a curious omission, but it's a game changer for me. 01/16/16 Export can be done from desktop version, but why should user have to install desktop just to do a data dump export? That should be an easy option to implement in this app.
I was looking for a program to replace a similar one I've used for years but was Linux only. now that I'm doing more on my Android tablet when I'm away from home I needed one that could be easily synced between the two platforms. Vault 3's ability to seamlessly sync with Dropbox meets that need. the app works exactly as claimed and the learning curve isn't at all steep. also the author responds quickly to feedback and questions, an almost unheard of, but greatly appreciated, quality nowadays. 5 stars!
I rely on this app every day. It may look simple, but it has the features necessary to keep track of everything you need day-to-day and year-to-year. It's interoperability between devices and operating systems is the killer feature. You'll need Dropsync to enable syncing, which takes the convenience offered to a whole new level. Don't bother with other sync services, Dropbox is the go. Well done Eric!
This is a great program, it makes it easy to organize a lot of different things. I particularly like being able to link to files within the program. It would be nice, however, if there was some way to sync between desktop and mobile versions. Or for the Android app to access files on an external SD card. EDIT :The developer has added access to both the SD card and Dropbox. 5 stars!
Entered three short lines to see outlining capability, but couldn't find any commands for it. Clicked items; long-pressed items; no outlining commands came up. They have to be there somewhere, but a user shouldn't have to hunt for them.
I imported (manually) all of my 687 hierarchical notes from keepassdroid to Vault 3 that took around 20 hrs. Thanks to the author for creating such a nice program. Scroll bar needed. Waiting for an update...

Nice to be able to review Vault 3 note from Android device. But seem that embedded image is not supported. Wonder will that be supported soon ...

This app is perfect in every way! Extremely fast. Has never crashed. Very light on system resources! Very solid & reliable. I had an issue with the latest update & the dev had a fix within 2 hours! Thanks Eric! I have been using this app & its PC version for years. They work perfectly together (I sync the files through the Dropsync app so they are always updated. Best (and most used) app on my phone!

I am delighted that EBT wrote this piece of software. Same kind of software for PC is still my productivity tool of great joy. I recommend without hesitation software of this author
It needs autosave and the OK and Cancel buttons should be switched or moved to the top because the OK button is too close to Android's back button. I just lost a bit of writing by hitting Back by accident...
Bit too simple. Would like better looking user interface.
Too many taps are required just to write an outline. Others I've seen are much smiother. Also, there's no clear workflow. It's hard to get your ideas out when half of your attention is eaten by the app itself. Nevertheless, this app has a nice set of features. It could be truly great with some usability testing and a new UI.
Can't understand how to use it.
I've settled on another solution that doesn't require Java on the desktop side, but this is a worthy tool. The photo integration is a really nice touch. Apps like this one that are truly cross-platform without requiring some kind of cloud sync are rare.
I needed to be able to synch vault files between Win32 desktop and Andro. A little non-intuitive, but portable and encrypted. Thanks.
Finally!! Excellent app, I've been needing an outliner having used Thought Manager on a palm years ago. This app fills the bill.
I've used Vault on a PC for years and was very happy to see it available for Android - having saved my PC vault file with the new PC version I just copied the VL3 file to my Android and all my notes were there. The interface is slick and the app is very responsive. Always having my notes with me will be a huge benefit - thanks!!
Vault 3 has enabled me to replace my ancient Palm IIIxe. Both the Windows desktop and Android (Nexus 7 tablet) versions run quickly on my database with over 20,000 rows. Also, when I reported a small bug in the Android version, EricBT prepared a fix within a few hours!
A bit confusing. Dont know how to use this.
