About Epson PULSENSE View

Please see this list for our supported Android devices. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Landing/pulsense-compatible-devices.do?BV_UseBVCookie=yes
If your device is not on this list, we do not currently support it.

[Overview of the application]
PULSENSE measures heartbeat and activity 24 hours a day, tracking your exercise across five heart rate zones, as well as steps, distance, calories, sleep quality, and mind.

"Epson PULSENSE View" is an application for Android that allows you to view the data recorded by your PULSENSE device, making it easy to keep an eye on your daily, weekly or monthly statistics. Data will be synchronised wirelessly via Bluetooth® Smart with your Android device, providing you with real time data on the go. In addition you can use the app to set your targets and manage your device settings including your wake-up alarm.

[Features]
Simply swipe the dials to navigate through the activities at ease.
Swipe the tab in the middle at the top of the screen to the bottom in order to display the real-time meter. You can use this function to monitor your heart rate during a workout for effective heart rate zone training. Press the 'START' button to start the recording and finish the recording by pressing 'STOP' at the end of your training.

PULSENSE calculates calories burned based upon body motion and heart rate data, which is related very closely to calories burned, enabling more detailed calorie calculation. You can also input your calories manually by pressing the button.

[Battery consumption and location data]
PULSENSE View relies on mobile device and Wi-Fi station data when determining your position, which is less accurate than GPS data. This application does not use a GPS data to preserve your Android device battery.

[Supported devices]
PS-100, PS-500 (Firmware must be ver.1.10 or later)

At least once a day the app completely loses connection with my PS-100. Sometimes rebooting the phone reestablishes link. Most times I have to unpair and re-pair device. Why can't Epson reliably connect with their own device? Other apps by 3rd parties work fine. Such a shame. A great device let down by poor software.

Very disappointed. My pulsense is basically a watch and nothing else, very rarely syncs with the app.

Pretty useless and done all of the things asked on the help pages!

This app is crab. Tried to use it to update the firmware, but it crashes always on start. It lost all data after losing signal while hiking. An offline mode was desperately missed. But know I'm using MyPS what works well for me. Pairing is only possible with active Location service. That is crab, too and nowhere explained. Painful experience all-in-all.

Maybe it's a translation problem from the Japanese but I don't think so. All of the software interfaces are on a scale from clumsy to terrible. Today's problems started with an upgrade announcement, but I can't even find out what version I have. Insofar as I can see what the hardware is doing through the window of the software, it seems pretty good. Then again, I can't imagine how it could help a doctor, which is supposed to be the ultimate goal.

Nice interface with a few different options for how the information is presented. Ease to use to setup the device it's self too. Had the device (ps-500) up and running in less than 5mins out of the box.

Can't set the time on the watch (ps500). Is supposed to auto set when you sync but it does not....makes for a useless watch... and affects other functions too. Tremendous potential but very little thought toward actual usability.

Once I had finally gotten my Pulsense 100 connected to my phone (10 hours of trying...) I found this app to be somewhat lacking. I got the Pulsesnse mainly for HR and sleep monitoring, and while the app keeps tabs and informs on both, the way the app presents the information is pretty poor. Yes it's all there but presentation could be greatly improved. The inclusion of a widget would also be nice. All in all, it's good, functional but could do with a presentational overhaul.

Works much better than this app, so disappointing pulsense's own app has never really worked!

So i pay over £110 for a new band, and spent over 3 hours trying to set this thing up. Tried on 4 different devices and not one worked. Repeatedly kept coming up with errors and in the end I have returned the band for a refund and will delete this app. And it looked so good too! What a shame. Won't risk another though.

Doesn't work after I updated my Galaxy S5 to Android 5.0, keeps crashing shortly after I start it...

N70%

App keeps stopping and not working. Then when I try update or pair with the device it is unable to and furthermore when on the home screen, stuff such as steps do not update automatically

Never been so irritated over an app. Loses sync and now it WON'T do ANYTHING!!! I got 4 hours use out of this!! Wow...absolutely unacceptable.

X70%

App keeps stopping on my note3. A shame as I like the band but the app certainly needs some work. Firmware is up to date. It would be nice to get my info when I want it. Not after I've had to reboot my phone each time. I don't suppose Epson will even see this as I've seen no replies to any of the comments. A poor way to treat your customers.

I got this HR and tracker as a test unit. I currently used a fitbit force as my daily sleep and step tracker. Comparatively speaking, the Epson step counter is within 150 steps from my fitbit and having heart rate monitoring is nice to have. As far as the app goes, it has a nice layout that it is also easy to navigate with daily, weekly, and monthly graphic visualization of the different things being tracked. All in all, not bad, Epson.

No display of progress while communication wheel is endlessly spinning. Support is non-existent. Still huge room for improvements. Drains battery. Poor time resolution of displayed data, no zoom into time line possible, can't store data locally only, no SDK available, export is missing.I don't have Twitter or Facebook. No way to delete data that is stored in the internet apart from deleting the account. No info/overview about stored data. I hope that they can focus on functionality now.

Here's how I got this device to pair with my Moto X: 1. Put the device in the charging cradle and tap it until it starts blinking. This clears the Bluetooth pairing. 2. Take your charging cradle to your friend's house and borrow his/her iPhone. Install the Pulsense View iOS app and pair the device with the iPhone. Once paired with the iPhone, go to the "Device settings" menu and select "Firmware update." Install the latest firmware (01.10) so that the device will talk to your Android phone. 3. After you upgrade the firmware, while the device is in the cradle, tap it again to delete the Bluetooth pairing with the iPhone and turn off Bluetooth on the iPhone. 4. Install the Pulsense app on your Android device and complete the pairing process. 5. Enjoy your Pulsense device! 6. Delete the iOS app from your friend's phone. 7. Give your friend something nice, like a commemorative mug or offer to rake their lawn.

Spend some time to update the firmware... I first install the new version of app, a red dot appears on the device profile icon, showing there's new update available. Pull-down to the bottom of device profile and select firmware update. However, I failed at this step several times, app always displayed "communication error". Finally I turn off Bluetooth when got this message, and turn it back on again, and it worked! Don't know what the improvements yet.

This app needs to support more devices. Isn't BLE a standard? Android has generic APIs for it, so why isn't this app written in a generic way? The companion device (a PS-100) is utterly useless to me since I have no way to get at the data. FWIW I would be happy to sign an NDA and help debug this on my devices (g1l3sp at gmail).
