The compass is a joke. It's some "stylized" artsy-fartsy design and it jumps and jitters and won't show a true, steady course. The flashlight turned on the LED/Flash on my S4 once, along with the main screen going to white, then never again. That said, the gps portion works pretty well, it has a "panic" button and some other features but the flashlight and compass were the main reason I wanted the app. I replaced my iPhone 5S which had the "flashlight mini" with an EXCELLENT compass, smooth moving and looks like a compass and the flashlight was excellent as well. The search continues.
