Eight Sleep for Android
Keeps getting better, but still waiting for the Eight to automatically toggle day/night mode when it detects someone in bed. Doing this manually isn't automation.
This app has improved greatly since I purchased my Eight mattress in February. The CEO personally called me to ask for app feedback. The have been responsive on fixing bugs and adding new features. As of late March, my only complaint is that the new goal feature doesn't seem to work. I put my goal as 7 hours and no matter what, it says I never meet my goal.
I bought the mattress pad with the original indiegogo campaign. I have been able to use it, maybe twice. I forgot my password and attempted to reset it on two different devices. I keep getting the same error "failed to update password.". So I thought to myself I'll go to the website, absolutely no help there. I would love to use this but the app is making this really difficult.
The best thing about the app is setting a schedule for when Eight warms my bed. Having a warm bed without having to remember to go turn on something is nice. The sleep tracking is not helpful for me because I am single and sleep in the middle of my queen-sized bed. Eight said months ago that they'd release an update for solo sleepers but have yet to do so. Luckily I wasn't attracted to what was then Luna when I signed up on IndieGoGo because of the sleep tracking features, so that's not a big deal. The Eight unit has a thermometer in it. The app knows what temperature my bedroom was at each hour of my sleep cycle, but I can't see that information until the next day when I review a sleep session. Wouldn't it be cool if I could pull up my app to see my bedroom's temperature right now? And Eight's IFTTT integration is similarly less than useful. You can set up recipes for Eight to tell IFTTT to do something, but if you think you can have Eight notify IFTTT when Eight detects a change in temperature, think again. No, Eight can only tell IFTTT when you press a button in the Eight app. How on earth is that useful? Take a break from selling mattresses, Eight, and update your app.
*UPDATE* been monitoring how closely it's been tracking my sleep and they must have updated something on the bed cause it is actually working really well now, pretty neat to see my consistent nights of sleep
Terrible customer service. The app is okay, but I have been having a problem with my mattress pad and have been ignored by customer "support."
The app//mattress need to have a single sleeping mode in all beds. I can only use one side of my bed.
Very pleased with latest update that adds alarm scheduling
Good thinking shows in updates
They are updating the app fast, and the updates are great. At first it was only okay, now it's great!
Works great, loving the updates
Keeps on saying side connector unplugged. It's plugged in!! I've unplugged/replugged/re- installed five times. Update 12/20/17 They sent a new cover and currently checking it. Will update review if and when it deserves it. Update 1/17/17 new cover and App is working great now. It is recording my sleep and bed/room temperature accurately now.
The server is consistently down. The first day I tried creating an account, the server was down all day. I couldn't create an account til late that night. The second day of use of my eight sleep mattress cover, the server has been down all morning. I get that this is new and that the app may be buggy or limited. I am OK with that but server issues should not be occurring. Edit: Thank you for replying to my comment. The error I am encountering is that when opening the app, I am unable to login. I get the message "Error with server, cannot login". Usually after several hours, I can open the app and login automatically.
This app and mattress cover is terrible. I supported this company from the beginning. When using the sleep experiment my phone slows to a crawl. I have to restart my phone to stop it from locking up. Recently the Eight sleep stopped working all together. The app says the mattress cover is not connected. Tech support took two days to respond and asked basic questions without resolving my problem. Now I'll wait another two days to get a response. Worst money spent. 1/27/17 Update. Received new cover but can't set up, app won't let me reset password.
Works and is getting better with updates. Eight - please continue to update and support your customers. This is a newer product and if your customers love the product but the ap is OK, you are losing a golden opportunity. Continue to react to feedback.
My first unit was defective. Second one seems more accurate. Not adding the advertised and promised features well making pointless app updates. Would not recommend you buy until the deliver what was advertised.
Wish it was less strict on sleep duration start/stop. I have sleep issues and am on call (a lot). If I get up for more than a few minutes, it decides my sleep is over, even if I return and get a solid six hours... What did it think that was? A heavy pile of laundry? Needs tweaking. Good in general.
If you want it to update, you have to restart the app. The alarms don't allow scheduling, which is big. We need to be able to set alarms to days. Otherwise, works as advertised. The device is fantastic. The app needs a few updates to be good.
As a new product on the market that is still under development this product is outstanding it is good quality and it does exactly as you would expect it to do and that it is still a new product there are plenty of things left to do and improve on but so far so good.
I've had my mattress cover since Oct 1st 2016.. The cover and App works with no complaints and steady updates that have been improving beyond my expectations. Bottom line, I'm sleeping better.. Enough said!
The people at Eight are very nice and patient in troubleshooting problems. The software is well designed for the most part. Unfortunately, the combination of hardware and software is mostly a failure. Not ready for prime time. I bought a king pad. Divided into 2 sides. On the left, iffy is more or less relatively accurate, give or take half hour. No big deal. On the right side the readings are just plain bizarre. My wife goes to bed at 10 pm. The mattress pad senses that much right. But, me knowing that she is normally asleep 15 to 20 minutes later, it confounds me the software says she falls asleep around midnight. Then, it reports they she gets out of bed between 2 and 3, and no more data is recorded. She actually gets out of bed at 5:45. On the dot. Thus, I can't recommend a product that does not work. It is not ready for prime time yet. Maybe in the future. Right now it is an expensive bed warmer. Spend and learn, the life of an early adopter.
Getting better with each update. Hopefully will have an alarm schedule by day soon and sleep breaks support added
Gotta love this thing in the winter. IFTTT is making it even better
Swiping between days no longer works, it takes over 24 hours to process the data, only the last day is visible and every time the day is refreshed the data changes.
Nice work on the Android fix.
Does all the basics well, however needs the api to fullfill its potential
Works great
AVOID
Works great for me
It works as it is. I would like many more features, though, which are not included but should be possible. For instance, the bed accurately tracks (for me, it seems - others have reported that it is not accurately tracking) bed temperature, room temperature, times I turn in my sleep, breathing rate, and deep sleep/light sleep/no sleep. It would be great to have the app trigger the heat (or turn off the heat) or set off an alarm when one or more of these parameters changes. It gets too hot in bed: it turns off the heat. It gets too cold in bed: it turns on the heat. I turn 3 times in a 5 minute period, the heat comes on, or goes off. You see where I'm going with this? None of these options are possible. You can set the two sides of the bed to different heat settings (not temperatures) and when it comes on and goes off, also particular to the side of the bed. The tracking is very comprehensive and seems accurate to me. The times, turning, temperatures, heating, deep & light sleeping all seemed accurately tracked. I really like that. Now I wish I could use it to help me sleep better.
Thanks for fixing wifi issue. Now I have issue with warming bed. One side of the bed warming is not working. I am have tried restarting the app did not work. I am uninstalling and installing again to see if that works. I rating it as 2. As soon as it fixes I will change my rating. After reinstalling same behavior. One side of the bed warming is not working. I can see base led color is also not changing for that side.
It's buggy. It stopped working one night but won't let me edit the information. It doesn't measure things I thought it would like light and sound. The alarm function is even buggy. Not thrilled right now.
Cant even use the mattress pad because the hub wont connect to my wifi signal. Looks like a return is in order after waiting 2 damn years. This isnt even the first version. Thought they worked their big issues out. Guess not. *Edit : After some emails to the support team, it seems thay my issues have resolved. Updating the rating based one their excellent customer service and the fact that the app works now. Will test out features and see how it goes. Thanks!
Started out being an expensive mattress cover that wasn't worth the money. They're slowly adding the features they said they would. With IFTTT integrations, it's now worth the payment. App bugs are taken care of in a day as well so the below 3 Rating isn't justified, probably mostly people who haven't updated their ratings after fixes.
Worked great for 1 week, then out of nowhere 1 side fails to connect. I tried Re-pairing, uninstalling app, switching bed sides. No Luck at all. This is the 2nd time that the product refuses to work as promised. Getting really frustrated. Will return if i dont get a fix soon. Will NOT recommend to friends or family.
Will not pair. Support responded. Additional instructions provided which remedied the problem. I've got two hours invested in this product to get it to work. Oh yeah, and the $400 to buy. Their packaging is great. Will report in a couple of months on how the product works.
Would not setup via my Samsung Galaxy 6 (wifi issue). Used my partner's iPhone, hub finally connected on its third iPhone setup. The heat should be smart, but isn't, and the manual control sucks. After four nights, still haven't found a pleasing setting. One or two times a night, it's too hot, I overheat. My Sunbeam heatpad, with three temps is better. The app's white noises have a disturbing pause. For being the size of a mac mini, the hub isn't helpful. Hub has no speaker, it needs phone for everything...
Received my Eight mattress cover, I was unable to connect it to wifi. Updated the app version after being told that 1.9.1 would solve it. 1.9.1 did not solve it. I would love turn re-rate this app, but at this point, the product is 100% unusable.
Bought one for myself and realized how helpful it is in tracking my sleeping habits. Bought this for my entire family as xmas gifts. Great product and excited to continue using this!

Alarm always goes off at 100% volume; no option to have alarm volume rise slowly; can set just one alarm (has to be assigned a day). For a product designed to help you feel better when you wake up the alarm is a nightmare (pun intended).
