About Alí Babá
En una ciudad de Persia vivían dos hermanos: Cassim y Alí Babá.
Su padre al morir les había dejado sólo una pequeña herencia que ellos habían dividido en partes iguales.
Algún tiempo después, Cassim, a quien le gustaba mucho el dinero, se casó con una viuda muy rica. Con la dote aportada por ella al matrimonio, había comprado un negocio, y en poco tiempo había hecho una gran fortuna.
Cassim, no tenía hijos y era un avaro terrible. Acumulaba ambiciosamente todo el dinero que ganaba y nunca le parecía suficiente. Gran parte del tiempo la pasaba fumando su pipa y pen- sando en la manera como podría invertir su dinero para que le produjera más.
En cambio, Alí Babá se había casado con una mujer de la que se había enamorado, sin pensar si tenía o no una buena dote. En realidad ella era tan pobre como él y cuando tuvieron los primeros hijos, su vida empezó a ponerse difícil.
Alí Babá era leñador. Su trabajo era duro y daba poco dinero. Pero era un buen hombre: nunca se quejaba y trabajaba con ardor. Sin embargo, cada día le traía la angustia de obtener con qué alimentar a su familia. In a city of Persia lived two brothers, Cassim and Ali Baba.
