Anotador de pádel

Este deporte fue inventado en Acapulco, México, por Enrique Corcuera hacia 1962.4 Tras su popularidad en diversos países sudamericanos y en España, empezó a extenderse su práctica por América y Europa respectivamente. La gran acogida de este deporte en zonas españolas como la Costa del Sol ha hecho que se popularice entre turistas del norte de Europa, principalmente del Reino Unido, país en el cual se está iniciando una importante afición.

La palabra inglesa paddle,5 en su acepción de pala o raqueta6 se españolizó por «pádel», y fue incluida en la vigesimotercera edición del Diccionario de la lengua española de la Real Academia Española. Esto permite diferenciarlo de un deporte homónimo que se práctica en Estados Unidos con distintas reglas y bajo el nombre de paddle tenis.

En 2005 nació el Pádel Pro Tour, primer circuito de pádel profesional. Los mejores jugadores del mundo jugaban este torneo disputado en España y Argentina. Carolina Navarro y Cecilia Reiter ocuparon el primer lugar en la clasificación femenina de este campeonato, en tanto que Juan Martín Díaz y Fernando Belasteguín hicieron lo propio en la clasificación masculina.

Cecilia Navarro and Reiter Carolina ranked first in the women's classification of this championship, while Juan Martín Díaz and Fernando Belasteguín did the same in the men's standings.
