Ticket Wallet for Android
I have never used a less user friendly ticket wallet. Looking at your ticket can activate them, theoretically voiding them. There is no warning. This happened twice! One time I didn't even select a ticket and it was activated and voided. Thankfully ticket collectors seem to be aware their app is buggy and let me use my voided ticket anyways. I will never never never use again. This app is simply a total failure of design.
I bought single and return tickets they were supposed to be transfered to ticket wallet. Somehow one ticket have been used before the exact date of travel. On my travel day i had to buy another on way ticket.
This app automatically activated my advance ticket the DAY BEFORE travel which left it invalid for the barriers or train. Thankfully the staff seem used to it not working otherwise it would have been a very expensive journey. Sort this out! I won't use it again.
I'd evaluate it if I could even log in. I can access my Virgin Trains account on other devices, and using the Virgin Trains app, but Ticket Wallet won't accept my username/password information. Tech support wasted my time.
Managed to activate a ticket by opening it to check the time. Fortunately it was an advance and for a particular train, and the conductor was nice about it. Takes ages to sign in. Back to paper tickets for me, this is a useless bit of over engineering
Unreliable. Unpredictable. I use Virgin West Coast and Transpennine Express mobile tickets all the time with no problems. Virgin East Coast should be ashamed of themselves for coming up with an app this bad.
A very poorly tested piece of software. It simply does not work. What is worse, if one selects mobile delivery on checkout, there is no fallback option to print a paper ticket. So not only has the software failed, but the entire ticket delivery infrastructure has failed. They need to remove the mobile delivery option until they have debugged this awful software. Truly a sign of poor business organization, no quality control, and overall inattention to customer service.
Slow annoying, feels like a rush job. And Virgin wouldn't let me change my tickets to collect at station instead of using this app. An app that makes life harder.
Repeated problems in logging in to the app even with a perfectly good 3/4G signal, so I had no confidence that the mobile ticket would be available for inspection. I even took a photo of the tickets and barcodes to show the inspector just in case I couldn't log on. Will not be using the mobile option again.
Tried installing this but I can't get past the enter device name screen. It responds with no special characters allowed after about 90 secs, despite none being present in MeMoPad, then says can't connect to server. I am sure that the ticket inspector on the train would not appreciate bugs in the app and give me a new ticket- not for free though! Uninstalled.
It's hard to know where to start, this app is pathetic. Whoever is responsible for delivering this app should never work in IT ever again. I can't even connect to the server. So that leaves me with a useless e-ticket I cannot even access.
Can't get past the name device screen. Whoever developed and tested this needs to never release another mobile app
Absolutely horrible login times. Not sure what kind of calls they are making to their database to get our details for it to take so long..
Can I give it 0 stars? It won't download on my devices, and now virgin expect me to cancel tickets and buy new ones, because they can't send me an app based ticket. I refuse, they should have thought of that before they created a duff app. Just waiting to speak to a supervisor right now on the phone (ten minutes and counting so far).
Insists that the username/password combo I'm using is invalid, despite it working just fine to access the website. Support even insists that the username I'm using isn't valid (despite me having contacted them via the website, logged in with the name in question). Absolutely hopeless.
When I press "show watermark validation" a timestamp flashes quickly for about 1 second. Glad the ticket checker was understanding. I'll get paper tickets until this is fixed.
Performance is pathetic when it comes to logging in. It should be able to cope with changes from GMT to BST but judging by when it says tickets are activated it doesn't as it is always currently 1 hour behind. Apart from that it does work work as a ticket wallet, but don't be surprised if barriers don't scan the barcode.
Rubbish app. Having used e-tickets successfully for flights I thought I would try this. I booked train from York to London on the 14th...went into app when I get to station app says "No current tickets'! Heart attack later I look at previous tickets and there is my booking for today saying already used. There began a long day of hassles!!When I finally got it resolved just before return journey the help desk asked if I wanted to be put through to complaints... I said yes... They put me thru to a dead line
Really slow to log in, I wonder how many people have missed their train because of this... No idea why there is a separate application anyway; there is another 'main' app for Virgin trains which, funnily enough, is even more faulty than this piece of crap
The signing in issues appear to be mostly resolved, however this app activates my tickets at 23:00 the night before use, making them appear as used. Most of the conductors accept that there's a problem with the app but I've just had one trying to tell me that the app doesn't do this & I must have done it. Strange thing is, that yesterday's tickets activated at 4am & were fine. Until this issue is sorted, avoid this app. I'm going back to regular tickets once all of the ones in the app are used.
Terrible app, I'm tired of having tickets activated by simply starting the app to look at previous tickets . Not possible to purchase new tickets via the app, suggests you to go to the website instead. Won't load for the first time until I reboot the device, tried two different phones with stock roms and I got the same every time.
App is so disfunctional that it led to an unpleasant uncertain journey, multiple conversations with gate staff and ticket inspectors who we not always willing to accept that I had purchased a valid ticket. The problems this app has, made clear by the reviews, could lead to unnecessary stress and expense. Therefore it should be removed from the play store until it is fixed.
Useful way of getting and storing your tickets but slow to log in. The delay repay option must be a wind up as it's never worked. Virgin make it as difficult to claim delay repay as possible in the hope you won't bother.
To say in your latest red report you want to banish the orange ticket then I think this app should be your priority! Takes forever to long in keeping customers waiting at ticket gates and watermark feature doesn't work causing embarrassment on the train!
Authentication model is wrong. Takes ages to login when app opens. This delays the train guard on ticket checks. Need an offline mode and authenticate / sync in the background. Needs a save button on device name.
Couldn't sign in at first then couldn't set a device name and then it wouldn't connect to the server and download my ticket. A ticket wallet is painfully simple compared to other ticket apps and yet they haven't come close to making a functional app.
Installed while buying a ticket. It won't download the ticket I just bought and it started up with m-tickets for journeys I haven't booked. Same result after reinstalling. Seems to be quite useless. Probably have to buy another ticket . Grrr.
Logging in takes ages as it always waits about a minute then shows a pop up saying it couldn't connect to the server. But when you dismiss the pop up it has connected. Today I'm trying to use the Claim Refund function and it, again, takes ages spinning the wait icon then says there was a problem submitting the request. But this one doesn't actually then work. Two basic functions just don't do their job correctly.
Pretty dire app when compared to Virgin (West Coast) app. Can't ever retrospectively push tickets to device. Will be uninstalling as it's just not worth having.
Activated my advance ticket on a day I could not use it. Why aren't there checks for this? The activation also should be done at the barriers/the first time someone scans it. Terrible design.
This is a terrible app from the dark ages. Cannot login, does not show your tickets. Come on Martin, sort this out.
Super slow, crappy without signal and worst, can't show the damn crap validation!!!
Ha this app is a totally fail. Couldn't even sign in. I've never experienced such a useless app
Difficult to see how this could be much worse. Takes ages to load and the UI looks like it's from the 80s
unable to add tickets already purchased on line - so it doesn't synch with your profile like any normal e-ticket / boarding pass application you can't even add the booking by reference number - even from the virgin trains website - user login expected better
That is because once you've booked phone only Virgin will not be able to give you paper copy of the ticket. If you lose your phone or battery dies then you're stuck.
First time downloading the app got stuck on the 'device name' screen. I restarted the app and it works fine, barcode etc everything showing up as normal. It's a basic app so I don't understand why so many are having problems.
I can login fine (though it takes long enough) but there are so many bugs it's unreal. Watermark feature just doesn't work and the last time I used the app it expired my ticket the night before I was due to travel! One particular member of staff at King's Cross was positively obstructive when I tried to explain this. Apparently since he had never heard of m-tickets it "must've been" a print at home one, even when I showed him the booking confirmation saying it would be delivered to my phone.
Works fine but takes an age to log in, you guys need to sort that out. I don't look forward to awkward minutes waiting with a ticket inspector the day I forget to sign in in advance.

Extremely slow to log in making it difficult to show ticket to conductor or to get through barriers at station. Delay repay feature doesn't work. My choosing to deliver too phone can no longer amend advance tickets online causing unnecessary hassle and calls to web support
