MasterCook for Android
I've been a MC user for close to two decades. While the desktop client has stagnated, it still holds its own. This mobile version is acceptable, but certainly other products in the Playstore are ahead in terms of layout, ease of use and function. The real benefit of the app is the sync between desktop, web and mobile. However, despite much effort of both myself and the MC team, I've not been able to get sync to work between any device, desktop and the web account.
Not made for tablets - why????? The web version of the program is great as is the software verson for windows computers. The android phone app is good. Why on earth can the app not work on an android tablet? I use my tablet all the time in the kitchen and for reviewing my recipes - being able to use Master Cook in the kitchen on my tablet would make things so much easier than trying to do it on my phone or computer. As for the features of the program itself, I love how intelligent it is to allow me to share a web page that contains a recipe to the program and it automatically fills in all the fields for the amounts, ingredients, directions, and recipe source. That feature alone saves so much time. I also like how the program will autocalculate recipes to provide more or less servings. The menu plans and shopping lists are nice features as well but they aren't very user friendly to figure out.
Pretty worthless.. wont download my recipes for offline use. You cannot import recipes directly from your Mastercook PC app. You have to have a paid subscription to their website (+ any data charges for upload to Web and download to android device). "My Cookbook" app is a much better solution!
The PC application, on which this is based is ancient and works very poorly as a cloud platform. Very buggy, its always broken. I know, I've used it for around three years. Besides this the mobile app is rubbish in terms of functionality. Don't even think of using it without the desktop app - but then again you have the problem of ancient technology applied to the cloud if you use it with the desktop app. I use this software pretty much daily and have come to hate it. I think it needs a rewrite from the bottom up and won't recommend it until I see that happen. Look elsewhere for a cloud based app that actually works.
Each upgrade, just a little bit worse. Repeatedly get new cookbooks created, instead of existing cookbooks updated and synced. Tablets and phone often can't access recipes unless online, even when recipes supposedly downloaded for offline use. I put so much effort into cleaning up the duplicate cookbooks created, and moving recipes to where they should be, it just isn't worth it. And in the middle of this dysfunction, they notify me their subscription rate is skyrocketing later this year. $10 annually was fine, but to have my cookbooks repeatedly messed up and then ask for a lot more?
Been a MasterCook user for years, and am thrilled to have access to all my recipes on all my devices. Plus their support is fantastic. I couldn't be happier!
I have been a Cookn users for years but they keep increasing the pricing and the functionality is not worth it. Switched to Mastercook and I love it! Mastercook customer service helped transfer all 982 of my recipes into it cloud storage.
App keeps telling me to sync and quits often. App doesn't have the weekly meal planner like the software. App also doesnt include a feature that keeps the phone from going to sleep while viewing recipe or shopping list.
App hangs when you try to view cookbooks and clip recipes from web.
EDIT -- those having trouble logging in might benefit from logging into the desktop app first. This seemed to clear up our issue. Will review functionality once we've had a chance to play with the full package.
Still not ready after release delays and a year(?) of development, I can't log in. I can login on website but I can't reset password.
Seems they have solved sync problem. Great app.
After update I can no longer sign in.

Been using Mastercook for Windows for years. Was so happy to see Android version but unfortunately can't even use. Crashes when trying to clip recipes from web. Will stay with RecetteTek.
says user name already exists...first time registered...maybe fix that. You will get more downloads...may be a good app but can not get into it. don't recommend it because I can't get into it.
I am a bit surprised at how complicated it is to import (recipes, cook books). I have been using Master Cook Suites for decades. I was, happy to see an app for it. I'll try to link up my computer (account), but thus far there isn't that much motivation to do so.
Fix the app! It went from me speaking to someone in customer service for about two weeks. Now the cookbooks don't show at all. No matter how many times I sync with my computer.
Constantly get errors when attempting to open app half the time and rarely able to import a recipe from the internet without it giving an error and crashing.
Worked until it didn't. Went to read recipe to make my family supper and it will NOT open. Frozen pizza it is. I can't believe I paid for this.
It tells me my user already exists but I haven't registered before! Please fix!
Can't register, says user already exists
Recipe App
I'm a collector of MC l have 1.0
I can't register.... please fix it
Won't let me register with my Galaxy Note 4. Keeps saying "User Already Exists", no matter what I input.
It would not allow me to sign in I tried different passwords and I try to register as a new user and it said I was already a user impossible to get into it
Won't let me register for an account. Keeps saying user name already used no matter what I put in.
Would have given zero stars if accepted. Have used mastercook since way way back. Would not accept password and no obvious way to recover. Each iteration of this software had been worse and worse.

When ever i try to register,it says user already exsists.tried 3 different emails.even my work email.
Waste of time
I upgraded to the newest version of Mastercook specifically so that I could use the apps. First, the app so far only works on my Samsung S4. The app apparently does not work on my Nexus 7 tablet which is the device I have specifically for kitchen use. I'm not sure why this is the case since the tablet is running the latest os. This needs to be fixed or you're cutting out a whole group of people who might use the app. I also have an ipad; waiting for the app to be approved by apple so that I can use it on my ipad BUT, my Nexus 7 tablet is still the designated tablet for my kitchen. Then, another huge missing feature is being able to sort recipes by category. Frequently I'm looking for something within a category, such a cookies, and want to browse the category to see what sounds good to make. This is a big, big, gap in the app from my perspective. I could not care less about cuisine type. I would much rather see recipes sorted by category. Until these issues are resolved, I can't give this app more than the disappointing 2 stars I gave it.
I was excited to see the new app, would be easier then using a browser but the app is very limited and its impossible to search your recipes. I also seems since the app came out the mastercook servers have become overloaded and even the web based version is now too slow, rendering it almost useless. I am now searching for an alternative.
I've been using MasterCook for about 10 years. This is the greatest recipe organizer I have ever come across. Specially with the cost analysis, nutrition analysis and conversion options. Not to mention the website perks (one click download for recipes..genius). I have been waiting patiently for a long time for this app. Now that I have it I have all my recipes wherever I go. Great job MasterCook. By the way, for those with complications try using their support before complaining. They are fast to respond.
Mastercook cook is as good a recipe manager as I've seen . This app however comes up short . No meal plans, grabbing recipes from Web is clutzy, shopping list is useless without Web connection . Doesn't have most of bells and whistles of desktop version . Internet version isn't much better . Lots of potential just needs a lot of work to be of much use. Also won't run on Linux box
This app will not let me register. No reason is given. The screen just stays the same after it appears to do something for a second or so. Too bad.

Barely functions on a tablet. No ability to manually upload files as other programs do. Requires you to pay their ridiculously high subscription rate in order to send recipes to the app. Maybe if you create a much more reasonable rate for those of us who just want to be able to access our recipes on another device and don't need all the other "bells and whistles" I might come back.
