Aurora Alert for Android
This app has been abandoned. The last time the app was updated was Jan 2015. There has been no reply to repeated inquires for support. This app has many bugs and some features no longer work. You should not have to pay for an app with no customer support.
Will not update automatically. Have contacted developer several times with no response. Very disappointing. Was a great app but now useless. Have missed a few auroras due to alerts not working because it won't update automatically
I liked this app when I first got out but now all the data I want like the solar wind speed and the bz doesn't work it always says unavailable. Nothing like paying for an app and then it doesn't work. Yes I've updated it. I want my money back or fix the app!
Used to be the best aurora app, no contest. Anymore it's useless and the developer does not respond. Anymore, just like any free app, it is only good for checking kp values, all other charts say info n/a. @eaglesorbit, ????????????
I don't think this app is supported anymore. It doesn't seem to send any info to my phone. If this is something I'm doing wrong, please let me know and I'll fix it and amend by review but for now, I don't recommend this app
I think this app would have 5 stars except while setting it up it won't keep the setting for refresh rate/time or to keep it so it refreshes only on Wi-Fi, every other page has "ok" to click to move to next page of settings except this one. Help with this would be appreciated.
At this stage not impressed will not auto update have gone through all the settings and takes for ever to actually do needs an update button to force it to update
Deadware. Long abandoned. Some features like the local Alaska index have not worked for a year or more. No response from developer.
I love this app but for some reason it makes my location B.C. Canada though I live in Seattle. I've tried resetting and of course using location but nothing works.
Don't waste your time, the developer had abondon what used to be an awesome app, but now it's pretty much worthless.
Was a great app but no longer works and the dev has abandoned it.
Definitely the best Aurora Alert app I've found. When comparing the data coming through here, it was matching very well the NOAA data. Customisation was excellent EXCEPT for one thing. Would it possible to add an option to update data daily? The ability to keep up to date quickly is excellent when the atmosphere is cranking, but for those many days where the Kp is 1-3, this app drinks juice (not hugely) for no benefit. I end up turning updates off. Include this option and it's 5 stars all the way.
With the newest update my "update now" option disappeared for my galaxy s6 active. I'm super disappointed since I used that feature often. Some of the data is often unavailable, which is a bit of an annoyance. I do like the app overall, just a couple things really kill the usefulnes.
The best app I've found! Often the last conditions page where the wind speeds, directions, etc is listed "unavailable". I realize they rely on NOAA for that information though, so you can't really blame the app for that. Otherwise it's almost perfect!
Used to be the best app in 2014 Since mid 2015 the forecast doesn't update properly, page with graphic meters shows "n/a" for 3 of the 4 measurements. Appears like developer abandoned this app. & refuses to respond to emails.
Used to be my goto app for the lights, over the past year it has become completely worthless. The app is broken and does not follow settings anymore, I.e. it DOES NOT NOTIFY of higher indexes, and it does not even refresh its own information. Now I have to manually refresh to see what it claims current n forecast conditions are, which are no longer even close to accurate anyway. Save the money and just check the n.o.a.a. ovation website. Same information, but ACCURATELY and CONSTANTLY maintained unlike this
Unfortunately, this app no longer provides Boyle, Dst or solar wind data. It's just an app that rips the Wing Kp data from swpc.noaa.gov. It used to be better, hence three stars instead on one.
There hasn't been anything new posted on social media by the developer since 2014 and the last time the app was updated was Jan 2015. This app has many bugs and some features no longer work. You should not have to pay for an app with no customer support.
Use to work well, for the last few months wont show data for days on end now which is a shame because it was a great app, much more reliable aurora apps out there
Awesome app to give you a heads up to catch auroras in your area. You can have custom setting for time and weather and kp level.
Hasn't worked for some time
Developer, why doesn't it show the Hobart k-index?
I use this and recommend it
I used it for nearly 2 years. I got great alerts and great photos, would have said ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. But after re-installing it on my new phone (same phone, model and number) it never alerts me now never updates and doesn't show the map at all, for weeks. I'm going to uninstall it because it's useless now. Fix it!!! I relied on this app a lot
Used to be the best app, but the forecast doesn't update properly anymore. Numbers conflict between various pages.
Best alert out there, does Borealis and Australis. However, very conservative default Kp values for alerts - recommend lowering them to avoid false negatives.
I have been using Aurora Alert for well over a year now and have found it to work almost perfectly, assuming, of course, that you have a connection. It begins alerting you when there are auroras possible, low on the northern horizon (Aurora Borealis, obviously). If there is an auroral storm you receive a different sounding alert. I haven't seen any auroras using this app, but I have missed a couple through ignoring the alerts it gave me.
It has potential. The alerts dont work on this app. Fix this and i will re evaluate
I am in New Zealand and therefore most interested in the data for Hobart but I never see anything for Hobart on the graph page and activity always says 0 (Quiet) even though there was good activity last night I could see with the naked eye, no alerts nor could see any data beyond the global Kp. I had my threshold down to 6kp and still nothing. Have checked all other settings and GPS and can't find any reason for this. Seems like a great app otherwise so will update rating if this is solved.

Hey - Thought you'd like to know about a mention this app got as a result of a conversation I had with the head meteorologist at KARE11, who mentioned your app on the 10pm news on 6/23/2015. Clearly, we're both fans! Thanks for the great app!
This was the best app until the 1 & 4 hour forecast quit working. All it says is N/A. Wish you would fix this error. I may have to find a better app.
Downloaded this app last night, it showed Hobart as QUIET k index 0, and there was an Aurora Australis happening. Disappointed that I missed it based on this app
Used to be the best, now it doesn't show updates
I find it very unreliable recently
Seems to work fairly well except the sonic alert is a single "ding". If you check before you go to bed and then set an alarm to wake later it is more likely to be useful.
Easy to use and a great compliment to the amateur solar weather observer.
This is very easy to use. It will even give you notifications in airplane mode. It works from your location and has great adjustable settings. I wish there was an iPad version!
Doesnt seem to refresh data on my note 4

This is hands-down the best Aurora app on the market, period (Android and iPhone). The data is accurate and reliable and when the notification settings are done appropriately, you know when to head outside and look north. The only gripe I have is that the map showing the current Aurora extent isn't large enough on larger phone screens. Knowing the app is regularly updated, I'm confident it will be fixed.
