You can use this to turn GPS on and off even if it is part of the inherent android api. Plus once 'on' it keeps a lock on the GPS and any app (Navigation, Compass, etc.) that needs it does not have to wait around. The Best.

Auto starts w/o phone GPS on. Eats battery (18%+) and no matter how many times its forced shut its on in 3-5 min. again. Other than that it works.

Not sure what the issue is, it only displays two XXs and never any GPS info or bars. What are the bars supposed to show anyway, signal strength? Anyway, LG Optimus L9 phone, not working.

Wonderful idea, it does work wonder, but... 1. Allow that big, ugly label to be turned OFF ("GPS info"). 2. Make the current status light more obvious. That tiny red/green dot is almost invisible.
