Home Button Launcher for Android
I had a panic attack when Google Assistant infected my phone. Why does everyone assume I want to speak to my phone? And disabling Google Assistant just results in long-press-home bringing up a dialog stating Google Assistant is disabled. How useless! This app elegantly allowed me to go back to launching Google Now via long-press-home. Just set it as the default "phone assistant app" and then set it to auto start if only one app is selected.
I hated the way long pressing the home button on my Galaxy devices opened Google without the keyboard. I had to then click on the search bar to launch the keyboard. By using this app to automatically launch the Google search activity shortcut, I've solved a problem that has irritated me for years!!! One long press action and the keyboard is instantly there for use. Good work
Thank you for this! Google screwed me by making the "assistant" my default home key long press. Stupid assistant only accepts voice input. I just want to type my search query! This app let me customize my home key long press.
Great idea! I downloaded so I can type my questions after long pressing the home button. The awful Google Assistant doesn't let you do that.
Google destroyed long home button press with its awful assistant app that only lets you use voice. All I wanted was a Google search home button like my Moto had! Well now I do :) works perfect and I can set it to auto open instead of selecting so it's almost exactly like my old moto's long press home button.
Much awaited app for me. Now i can launch apps/shortcuts faster than any gesture. Always used it as swiping-up Virtual Home Key to lock my screen, and i'd love this app to do that too.
This app works great to launch Google voice search. However when I try to use it to launch the Cortana Mic shortcut, I receive a Java Access denied error. Posted this also to the Cortana devs. Hopefully this will get fixed.
I've seen great reviews so far, and saw someone used it to get rid of that terrible "voice only" Google Assistant. Too bad Google Assistant cancelled it out even when it was "off" (it'd just show me a box asking if I wanted to enable it again).
The setting not to ask when there's just one shortcut doesn't work. It still brings up the window with the one shortcut I have. Used to work flawlessly before my updating to android marshmallow.
The best app! I don't use the Google App that much, and having it as a home button shortcut was annoying. I'm happy that now I can change it with whatever I want.
I had trouble findind the device assist app on my s7. It can be found at the botton of the default application menu, for anyone that is having trouble.
Needed this to fix what voice-only Google assistant just broke, long press to open google search...Works well once you set it as phone assistance app and enable "autostart" in its settings...
none of my moto gs that upgraded to lollipops' home buttons do their intended job any more because google is absolutely the worst company of all time so thanks for letting me launch apps without having to mash my back key
I use this with Nova Launcher Prime swipe up gesture now that marshmallow broke swipe up. Adds extra functionality that I now can't live without.
Please add option to either blur or darken screen behind the menu upon activating it. Also, please make scrolling between tabs smooth like scrolling between home screens on a launcher is. Thanks.
Launcher I like doesn't allow extra icons in dock, so with this apps icon in the dock I can have as many as I want and still keep my favorite launcher! Cool! Nice job developers! Thanks!
Makes the swipe-up gesture actually useful! Update: well done finding a solution for marshmallow. This is way more useful to me than 'on tap'
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thought I would be forced to use the Google Assistant. I'm sure it's a wonderful app but I mostly prefer to type and hate bring forced to do anything. Works perfectly!
After seeing the Pixel phone launch event, I figured out how to use this app to use Google Now like the Pixel launches Google Assistant. Essentially, I can open voice search with a home button long press. It took a little tinkering, but the instructions are in the app description. It's pretty wonderful, just because I prefer pressing the button to saying "OK Google" every time. Should hold me over until Assistant comes to Android for real.
Worked perfectly. Set long press on home key to open Google search. Quick settings adjustment and my Google search/cards pops right up with a single long press. HTC M9
Doesn't do the one thing I wanted - automatically launch the 1 app i have selected (voice search). Others say it works for them. I get the Google Now app still
I think it's a really useful app but is it supposed to work on Samsung galaxy s5? Because it doesn't work on mine.
Not working on Lenovo Ta S8-50L. Home swipe only bring a white virtual button doing nothing on click.
Quick launch in Android is re-defined. By overriding home launcher and assist we can make quick launch apps and lastly we can also launch the default assist.
This did not download at all it did absolutely nothing. That's the best way that I could give it since I couldn't download anything to give it any good rating
I use it to make the home button do voice search. Saves me several seconds a year!
I wanted to change the default starting app with the home button long press. This app did that perfectly.
Does exactly what I needed, replacing the Google App. P.S: combining it with Apex actions is magic ;)
Finally makes better use of the home button. Great app and no permissions needed. Truly a must have app!
Tried other home button launchers but this is the most user friendly and the most effective.
I wish it worked on the lockscreen. 5 stars if that ever happens. Still a great app
Don't work on Marshmallow
This app using for any app, Ex:iPhone launcher, like I have a iphone.
best for the task, 6.0 compatible, no ads
Just what I needed to launch voice search. Would be great to use with phone looked.
Its a perfect app. My only gripe is there is a 1 second lag when you swipe up. If it was instantaneous... This would be 5 Stars easy. Hopefully you guys would improve on that in the future
none of my moto gs that upgraded to lollipops' home buttons do their intended job any more because google is absolutely the worst company of all time so thanks for letting me launch apps without having to mash my back key
Makes the swipe-up gesture actually useful! Update: well done finding a solution for marshmallow. This is way more useful to me than 'on tap'
Needed tool. I only would like to be a able to change icons. I included also a Total Finder Window with all my app folders.

I wanted this app for 1 reason - to be able to press and hold the HOME key to open Google's Voice Search directly and not the Google Now Launcher home (whatever that view with the cards is). I can already say "OK Google" from any screen - but sometimes I'd rather just have the voice prompt directly (such as when I'm around other Android phones which are all listening for "OK Google"!) Anyway, just wanted to say this app works perfectly for what I'm doing. I'm using a Galaxy S6 running 6.0.1 and like the instructions say you have to first set this app as your 'device assistant' which is buried in the settings. Also, I needed to change the settings in the app to auto-start the app as well (not show it in a list/menu).
