NYSBA Mobile Ethics App for Android
Version 1.0.1 works fine on my Galaxy Note 5. The text of the opinions is easy to read on my phone's screen. Search results are instantaneous. The internal memory space used is insignificant on my 64GB device. Great addition to my mobile library from NYSBA.
This app is a good idea but it fails on many levels. First it only installs on your phone's internal memory unless you are rooted. Even if you are rooted, less than 1 MB can be transferred to your SD Card. The permissions are totally out of bounds for an app like this. It wants permission to: Make phone calls; Access your contact list; Access your call logs; Your GPS position; and Phone ID including IMEI, IMSI etc... The only permissions that make sense is for your Mobile Network and WiFi. Using my phone's browser I can access the same information as this app without all of the permissions being enabled. This app is being uninstalled until the permissions are fixed or at least until a sufficient explanation as to why it needs to access all of these things is given.
Who has space to waste on apps of limited utility that can't be moved to SD card? I sure don't.
Now that the crashing issue is resolved, this app is terrific. UI is well done, and the info is easily accessed. One really nice touch: scroll to the bottom of an opinion and there are options to download or email that opinion. Kudos!
It will not install on the Kindle Fire.
Handy quick reference
