DTS Play-Fi™ for Android
Strongly suggest NOT buying any devices utilizing this app until it is completely rewritten. Since latest updates, getting drop outs, audio randomly working only from the primary speakers.. Other units won't stream at all...without resetting the app. PIA. POS.
It is the worst app if youve bought these speakers i feel very sorry for you. I cant access the music sources I'd like and its just generally terrible
This is beyond bad and won't update my Anthem receiver. Sort it out guys or rewrite it from the ground up and actually make something decent.
What an absolutely horrendous app. On Android, yet still no Google Music support. Audio dropouts. Some sources don't work with some devices. Can't play anything through phone speaker (must have play-fi device), so forget that rare/occasional need. Confusing UI. Terrible.
It doesn't work 70% of the time. Period. Anthem MRX-720 connected to router via ethernet cable. "No Play-Fi devices detected". Sound familiar people?
Product: Paradigm PW AMP: Please allow method to control volume of analog input. No sleep, basics missing. App will drive you crazy, poor programming.
App never works. Needs major improvements. Not giving up just yet.
What a waste of time. Never works
Work great with my Mac RS-100
Missing basic features like playlists, wireless connections audio quality downgraded. Won't play many common files. I'm sticking with my Squeezeboxes until the product is ready for business.
F-. Can't search your music library or any Amazon prime music. Because it does not support YouTube, the app and expensive speakers I bought are worthless. Will return expensive speakers due to horrible software.
Wish I could return the very expensive speakers that I can't get to work on this application since an upgrade.
To the developers of this app, take a week, study HEOS. Copy it's functionality. 1) connection to devices drops after a few hours of non use. HEOS turns on a device if not already on. 2) can't search phone music library, this is basic functionality. 3) app performance sucks. Takes too long to load songs from personal phone library list
Rarely works with-it glitches, frequently needs to be reset and fiddled with to make it work. More hassle than it's worth
this app works great... but I want to be able to access my library on amazon music
Can't use Amazon's Playlist to STREAM!!
Not perfect but definitely stepping in the right direction
The only way to adjust the volume when using analog speakers is to adjust the volume slider, go to select music to play, then go back to the previous screen without playing music. This is really frustrating as it cuts the audio and you can't hear the adjustments, so you have to guess where to set the slider. I just want to control the volume on my PW Amp...
This app provides smooth playback to Play-Fi devices. I use Amazon and Pandora streaming services, both of which are supported by Play-Fi. The lack of support for other providers found in competitors products thus does not bother me. However, the Amazon provider is missing a search feature, which really limits it's usability. I often have to fall back on Bluetooth as a result, which kills the benefits of buying Play-Fi speakers.
The app itself is decent, but not amazing. Also, a big disappointment that Google Music support is MIA. Given that many of the devices in playfi don't have Bluetooth built in there is no fallback for gaps in integration.
Glad to not be locked in to one brand of speakers, eager for Play-Fi to continue to grow and improve. It works great, the app is easy to use, and I'm getting closer to having a unified and easy to use media system.
Can someone just answer what the holdup is? Lowered my rating because I am tired of waiting for that support. I pay for one service not two and will not switch to Spotify...
No widgets, no Google music, no open API to use with home automation, and no way to upgrade firmware on my wren so can't use the rest of the network unless I remove the wren altogether. Horrible experience.
Super disappointing on Andriod devices. Play Fi was being advertised as an open source system to open compatibility up to a variety of devices and services. However Play Fi still doesn't support Spotify or Google Play. I really shoulda gone the Sonos route, but I really liked the Polk speakers and tried to make it work. This app is making me regret that decision though.
Update: I'm still waiting for an update that will bring my prurchased music from Amazon. Also Google Play should be here as well especially on Android devices. Improve the remote features, please put them in one place. Lastly, I love Tidal, however, just as I was getting happy, I realized that I only had some of my play lists, and I can't choose the how my favorites are arranged, i.e date added or alphabetical. Please correct.
So glad i can finally get music over wifi so i can get quality sound over to my high quality polk omni s2 speaker, wifi is the new bluetooth!!!! Just wish it would provide me with the songs i bought on amazon cause im kinda fed up listening to "top prime songs" but it also comes with around 20 different music services including everything u buy off the play store, pandora and spotify so it works better than amazon so i love this idea. DONT BUY LOW QUALITY SONOS SPEAKERS THIS WORKS FOR ALL NICER SPEAKERS
Play Music isn't an option in the app. An Android app and no music services available in-app for services from Google ( Play Music, YouTube Music). Completely insane and inane. No PocketCast, either. Just buy a Chromecast Audio. If I get a receiver with this option it will never be used.
Have a Paradigm PW Amp connected to a pair of bookshelf speakers and controling it with a OnePlus 1 and it sounds really nice. Wish the app had a sleep timer and alarm function though.
Rock solid streaming into my anthem receiver. Tidal sounds fantastic.
Needs capability for surround sound!!! Sound intermittently cuts out. Still wondering if I should have stayed old school with a receiver setup and just ran wiring.
Until the most recent update worked perfectly, now music cuts out 90 a seconds into first song. Upgraded app and firmware.
It messes up the primary speaker you have to unplug it to reset it... definitive w7
Still have to play songs from the media server one at a time. Can't add songs to a queue in order to "DJ". This means you can't just load up some tunes and move on, you have to keep fiddling with the app. Also, sometimes app cannot find Serviio media server and must close and re-open to find.
Play-Fi has great sound and the app does well at controlling the Play-Fi devices, but it's sorely lacking in major streaming providers. They need to include Google Play Music and iTunes/Apple Music as well as purchased music on Amazon. How many users actually use KKBox & QQ Music? Their site says it plays Spotify, but that isn't in the app either. UPDATE: I have both definitive and Phorus systems. I discovered that the app that is suggested by Definitive works just as well on the other speakers, handles spotify, and is a cleaner UI
I mostly use it for streaming Pandora but the app is clunky and usually crashes after a few songs. It's great when it works and frustrating when it doesn't.
Unable to stream WMA audio files from my Samsung S6. Comes up as unrecognized file.
Trying to log in or sign up to Pandora gives internal error message
Easy to use with lots of options.
Also metadata/id3 tag info should be displayed if wanted.

Massively underwhelming, was looking at this as a genuine Denon Heos alternative and it just isn't which is a huge shame as the Arcam equipment is so much better.
