Once installed, you should link your UK fixed or mobile phone number in NGT Lite. When linked, the app can create a connection over the Internet which works in parallel to your phone call to enable voice and real-time text to be combined into a single phone conversation. This enables you, as someone who is hearing or speech-impaired, to communicate with other phone users either directly, if they are also using the app, or via the NGT Relay if they’re a telephone user.
NGT Lite is designed to work with individual fixed and mobile phone numbers. Organisations wanting to use NGT Lite must ensure that the Calling Line Identification (CLI) for outgoing calls is unique to the phone being used. The CLI must also match the incoming phone number for the NGT App to be able to receive calls.
After linking NGT Lite to your phone number, you can make a call by starting the app and then, using your phone, dialling 18001 followed the number you’re calling. As your phone call connects via the NGT Service, a Join Call dialogue pops up on the app. Once you join the call, any text announcements or conversation appears in the app and you can type your reply. You can also use your phone to speak directly to the other person or hear their voice.
Quick guides
Setting up:
• Download and install the NGT Lite app
• Open NGT Lite
• In the Options page, add your full UK telephone number (e.g. 0791…)
• Using your phone, dial 0800 500 888
• You’ll get a text announcement saying the app is linked to your phone number
Making a call:
• Open NGT Lite, the green icon will show that you’re connected
• Make your call by dialling 18001 followed by the full telephone number you wish to call
• Switch back to the app and click Join Call
• You can now type and read, speak and read, or type and hear your conversation, either direct or via the NGT Relay
Answering a call:
• Caller dials 18002 followed by your phone number
• Phone rings
• Open NGT Lite and click Join Call
• You can now type and read your conversation, either direct or via the NGT Relay
• If you want to speak and read, or type and hear your conversation, answer the phone call before clicking Join Call
If you’d like to verify the correct functionality of the app, after linking your phone number in NGT Lite, you can dial the NGT Helpline on 0800 500 888 from your phone and connect to that call with the app for a test run.
Please note: To use your smartphone to make or answer a phone call and run NGT Lite at the same time, you must make sure your smartphone supports simultaneous voice and data or, if not, you’ll need to have a Wi-Fi connection.

Compared to using it on the iPhone, the android app is slow to response. Doesn't pick up everything that is written on the keyboard so you have to go really slowly. Lastly I've been cut off!

You have just lost 2 stars for the following reasons: 1. No LANDSCAPE mode. I have a tablet and is propped up in Landscape mode, but your app would not allow rotate the screen. Please ENABLE it. 2. The app stopped unexpectedly in the middle of a phone call. Very annoying. Thank you.

It worked fine with hudl2 last December, but now ngts won't even open properly? I've had to use my samsung mobile's smaller screen which is inconvenient, please can you sort it out asap. Update: Since there was no response, so I decided to try uninstall/reinstall and that worked thankfully so here's another star

It works okay on my smartphone (HTC Desire 820) once I knew what I needed to do. I also installed this on my tablet (Pixel C). It would be better if there was an option to use this app in landscape mode and an option to have the app automatically start up and run in background when the tablet is turned on, woken up or unlocked, so that I can recieve calls too. Autocorrect currently doesn't work properly in app. I want to be able to use the SwiftKey keyboard when using this app instead of the built in one.

The time out after about a minute is really annoying. There's not even a manual time out so I can log it off myself to avoid getting the annoying notification that it's done it. And now I'm getting hundreds of calls day and night through my text number with no relay assistant, every time the person wants a priest. I'm not a priest.

Not sure when it was updated, but it doesn't even work now!!!!!However the app interface is dated and not user-friendly. You should be able to dial out with the app but you cannot so it is fiddly and inconvenient to make a call. You also cannot use your device's keypad with it and the internal keypad does not have the features of most up to date devices e.g. swype, deleting/copying etc. You cannot even save your conversation at the end of the call. Fix these issues and I will review again.

As a severely hard of hearing person this app has given me the ability to contact my bank, utility companies and other customer services. Gone now are the hoops my carer and I had to jump through when she made calls on my behalf through jobsworths making things difficult (they always had to hear my voice on the call to give her permission!). Now I can call these places myself using the relay team and get things done without my carer and I getting frustrated, with no need to buy an expensive minicom device

NGT Lite sucks liike excretement thru wet rag. Have tried many times to link my mob but always failing every time and help pages also suck too coz they dont give enough info also no troubleshooting section. They (DSPG Ltd) also wrote TexMee but u cant dial any number, u are stuck with companies and organisations which are on texmee db which is no good - cant call bro at work nor call dwp in blackpool nor call my banks.

Needlessly complicated. Very poor usability. If 'NEXT Generation Text' paid a design team for this you have been ripped off.
