The basic way that you use SimPlates is just like pilots from those flying small Cessnas to those flying Boeing and Airbus airliners do every day. As you virtually approach an airport on your computer, bring up its corresponding plates in the SimPlates app. Use the plate as a guide in flying the approach to landing - just like a real world pilot would. SimPlates is useful for virtual pilots of many desktop flight simulation programs, including Flight Simulator (all versions including FSX, FS2004, and MS-Flight), X-Plane, and more.
While SimPlates are real-world plates, they are NOT SUITABLE FOR REAL WORLD FLIGHT OPERATIONS and MUST NOT BE USED FOR REAL WORLD FLIGHT OPERATIONS OF ANY SORT. As SimPlates is intended for flight simulation entertainment use, the plates are not kept up to date with real-world aviation changes (worldwide subscriptions for real-world current data over $2000 per year elsewhere!). However, for serious flight simulation entertainment use, the massive collection of plates represents incredible value and capability.
SimPlates includes over 70,000 real-world IFR plates, including approach plates, SIDs/STARs (Departures/Arrivals), Airport Diagrams, Approach types include ILS, VOR, VOR/DME, NDB, LLZ, SDF, GPS, TACAN, Helicopter and Visual. With so many plates, SimPlates provides very good worldwide coverage. For most countries and major airports of the world, if you are looking for a plates, SimPlates will likely have it. Supplemental features include an integrated WORLDWIDE Airport/Facilities directory and a worldwide NAVAID (Navigational Aid) directory.
Simplates' friendly interface makes it easy to find exactly the plate or information you are looking for quickly. As the totality of plates exceeds a whopping 100gb, the plates themselves are not included with your initial download from the AppStore. Rather, they are downloaded on demand when you select them in the app – this generally takes only a few moments per plate, but does require you to be online. Any plates you have downloaded into SimPlates remain on your device (unless cleared) so that you can continue to use them even while offline.

In most instances the charts are up to date. Aerodrome charts and approach plates are almost always correct. SIDS and STARS can be out of date, but that's the point really. If it was up to date with every AIRAC cycle it would be prohibitively expensive. Great service thanks.

Was great until I did an update of the database and now when it opens to the main screen I'm stuck because clicking on anything causes the app to crash on Android tablet 'unfortunately simplates has stopped'. would be 5 stars but the file update has put use of the app at a standstill. UPDATE: reinstalled and the downloaded update again, now it is good. Great app for simers.

This downloads the plate as a PDF which I think means they can be used when no Internet. In other words they are saved as a pdf. I did not see where we could choose to save them to a SD card. Easy to find any airport ok I just logged in my Adobe cloud so that works

Just a compilation of PDFs that can sourced independently from the Internet. Actually a link, not a compilation, and these are available for free from most country's AIP websites. Nothing ingenious here. Would want a refund if possible. Thought it would be an actual android app.

Some print is too small on my Nexus tablet, and I can't zoom in. So the ability to to expand and zoom on the pages with text would be nice. Other than that, works as described. Great support.

I like the idea of the app, but it is unusable on my Nexus 7 2012. It is so slow. When I try to tap on a chart in search it just crashes - the screen goes black and it tells me that the app isn't responding. Same thing happens after I reboot. I spent almost £40 on this and I had no choice but to ask for a refund.

Awesome. All plates I've search today (I know, Sim only) are dated current! Database is huge, and for the price any serious Sim pilot needs this app. Plates are high def and perfectly viewable on HTC one m8. One of the best value Prepar3d add-ons to have. 100% recommended.

Not working nexus 5 last version apk simple crash and i can not do a refund!! Disappointed..

This program doesn't work on Nexus 7. It only takes you back to the startup screen. No information is displayed at all. Also, if you have problems, it the help within the app tells you to uninstall and re-install it. Google Play charges you each time you install it. Now I've been charged, refunded, and charged again. Now I've got $42 x 2 in charges and it will be several days before I get a refund. I shouldn't have purchased this software. Only now do I see that another Nexus 9 user had the same issue. I hope I can get a refund. I make one purchase on Google in the past year, and it doesn't work! Then, it ties up $100 of my credit for several days. UPDATE: Google Play support is AWESOME!!! I sent a help/call request via the help. I was called back within 10 seconds. They refunded me for the two charges on this software within 1 minute. So, Simplates gets negative star review. Google gets a Double 10 star review.

First rate from taxi to and including departure and from arrival through approach and taxi to the gate a very comprehensive set of charts. Most major airports worldwide included and a huge number of general aviation airfields too. A 'must have' for all simmers. Charts easily accessed, good index, working well on both 7 inch and also larger format tablets.

I had a small problem with my recently purchased Simplates app and was pleasantly surprised to receive an almost immediate response to my enquiry to the online helpdesk which resolved the issue. I also received a phonecall from Dauntless probably prompted by their receiving three copies of my original e-mail, to follow up on the resolution. I have a PC version of Simplates but find the app version database to be far more comprehensive. Although I have been advised that an update is in progress. In summary, an excellent product with support to match, highly recommended.

A great app that works perfectly on my ASUS transformer prime! From what I've seen so far, charts are accurate and reasonably up to date (even current in the US). I operate a full 737NG home cockpit and purchased a tablet simply for quick access to airport charts. Cannot recommend this app highly enough!

Are you a flight sim flyer that likes to fly correct procedures at airports around the world but find it hard to obtain the charts ? well Simplates is the answer, what Simplates is is a very neat program that will down load these charts for you in next to no time , the program is stand alone so you dont need any other program to run it and will work with any Flight Simulator eg FS2004 to X-Plane etc, there are Over 30,000 real-world IFR plates and some VFR ones too .. but thats not all as the Android version is now the new ultra edition which now has about 80,000 charts . I have used an older version of Simplates on the PC so i knew this version would be good , in fact its better then i thought it would be and so too is the customer support as i had a few problems but these turned out to be the fault of my credit card company and not the program. One thing i would add is dont use these for any form of real world flying as the charts will be out of date but are great for flight simulators. all in all a great product that works fine on my S2 and would look even better on a tablet .

The reviewer who gave this one star is a liar, and probably one who planted the review artificially for his much more expensive subscription based service. The reality is that simplates has a HUGE amount of plates.. larger than any other, does NOT have any supposed license check other than the one that Google play has for ALL apps and of course you don't have to manually copy the plates to your device like you do with the rip off subscription that the other guy mentioned. Simplates has more and better plates now and the dauntless help desk told me there would be a massive free upgrade soon, too. Love this app. Incredible value for what you get. I use it every time I use msfs.
