About Take Control (TakeControl)ROOT

Note: For some reason TC doesn't work well with some phones/tablets. Please try Lite (free) version first.

Important node: TC requires your phone or tablet to be ROOTED (with Superuser/SuperSU and BussyBox installed)!

TakeControl lets you control your Android phone with Windows keyboard and mouse. Just move the cursor to the edge of the screen, and it will “cross” to your phone allowing you to control it. Typing or playing games on your phone or tablet has never been easier. And if you are worried about foreign letters, don’t be, because TakeControl supports 164 different keyboard localizations to suit all your needs. Clipboard is shared; multiple devices are supported and auto-connect feature lets you relax knowing that your phone is always within the reach of your keyboard and mouse.
All this makes TakeControl unique application on the market. There is no need for browser or VNC client. All you need is keyboard and a mouse.

To get started:
1. Go to droidcontrol.com and download and start TakeControl.exe
2. Start TakeControl on your phone, type in IP address of Windows PC and press Connect. Superuser should pop out which should be allowed.
3. That is it - you have TakeControl.

Hope, you’ll enjoy TakeControl!

A simple app that would enable me to control my TF701 Tablet, while I'm on my Windows 7 PC. I can easily switch between the two devices at anytime... without any delay at all! And the best part... There's absolutely NO lag! Lastly, it runs perfectly smooth, so the tablet has 0 loss in performance. The mouse cursor basically acts as a finger on the tablet, allowing you to do anything you'd normally do, even play next gen games (casual games as well, of course).

Otherwise a highly promising "inbound PC kbd/mouse" connectivity pack for Android, although Not having a_*fully locked-in* mouse pointer }} feels kind of unstable at both the Android and Windows sides of their border. //----//_2._[[ X4701grey [Portrait], JB.4.1.1, ExternalKeyboardHelper }} KbdLayout Belgian (std !).]] }} Disappointing how TakeControl's Android Mouse ptr ~disappears~ at any Southward attempt for reaching into the Android *softkey area* at_bottom of scrn. //----// 3._Even worse, TakeControl's mouse is unable to *click* effectively/successfully in the lower 40% of Android's X4701grey screen, meaning that TakeControl cannot e.g. reposition by_mouseClick a_TextEditor's text cursor into the lower part of the device screen, nor can TakeControl's mouse activate e.g. a_button or_hyperlink from there. //----// 4. Doesn't work anymore on i9300, last update was in 2012. Do try the free version first before you buy.

Worked great until last week. Don't know what changed but now it crashes EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to connect to the PC. I've tried clearing the data and even reinstalling. Very disappointing, please provide a solution!

Hi, this is a great product, and is the only way I've got 'Synergy'-like functions on my phone (virtual KVM). Some suggestion to make it even better: 1. Use DNS name, not IP address to connect - my DHCP will change the IP address eventually! 2. Support for landscape - I plug in to HDMI, and phone goes landscape, and TakeControl get confused, thinks still in portrait 3. Auto-connect at phone boot - so ready to control phone (I 'dock' my phone at home/work, and it would act like another screen, ready to go as soon as in WiFi range - I use Tasker to detect SSID and launch TakeControl - like a proximity detector)

I was not really expecting to find anything that did this when I started Googling for "Input Director for Android", and was VERY pleasantly surprised when I found this app, kinda made my day. I'm running a Lenovo X60 tablet with Android x86, and had this up and running in under 5 minutes. Only negative comment I have is that when trying to use a position other than "Bottom" it doesn't transition over. If I had to guess, I'd say it has to do with my desktop having two monitors, and/or the resolution of those monitors being fairly non-standard (I've got a 28" primary, with a 22" turned sideways on the right, and trying to run my Lenovo to the right of that. Would really like to see the position issue fixed, but thrilled this app even exists!

--Update to Review-- Developer no longer responds to my e-mails about bugs or feature requests, or to support the app. I am still not able to access the notifications bar, the app drops connection regularly, and no longer seems to be in development. Uninstalling and unhappy due to lack of support. There are alternatives on the Store right now that work much better. --End Update-- This is a fantastic product that works very well for something so new. Tablet is docked next to my screen and the cursor flows over there without a problem. There's a couple of bugs (costing that fifth star). I've had issues where the tablet keeps reconnecting even though the connection hasn't actually dropped. It also doesn't allow me to access my notifications bar at the bottom of my tablet's screen (I'm limited to the actual desktop itself). I'm sure that these are bugs that will be worked out. The only technical downfall is that on my Tablet S, the cursor is not smooth, so I've had to increase the acceleration to make it seem smooth and usable. This is a great start, though. An excellent program that deserves two thumbs up.

I was a bit skeptical at first because I've tried similar apps in the past and they either didn't work or worked just partially. Support for different keyboards is great, however there are still some problems with Caps/Num Lock synchronization - sometimes they just fall out of sync. Other that that, everything works smoothly.

I almost bought bluetooth keyboard for $40 but then saw a post on FB. This is a much better deal but it would be better if it would be for free :)

Great idea, great when it works, devs website is down so had to use google cached version to get link to pc host, doesnt seemed to be finished but god bless him for trying. Still fantastic! Please finish :)

No idea how good the app is but the dev is spamming numerous web forums to promote it whilst unconvincingly pretending he isn't the dev. Do you want to give a spammer root access to your phone?
