Drivermatics BlackBox Dash Cam

Dashboard is clear, intuitive and easy to use. However, the website mentions "background video mode", though I've only seemed to be able to get it to record when the app was in the foreground. Also, I've set it to use Waze for satnav, but navigation button opens Google Maps. Could be a bug. Overall, 3/5, because despite how good the app is, the lack of clarity of whether the video recording is actually working (and lack of decent documentation​) means I'm not sure whether I can actually trust it or not.

Currently not recording video on pixel. Think it would be great when up and running. Really value great products like this. Please keep up the good work!

Can't play the video of a journey which is the entire point!

Great app

I downloaded this amazing app before I had a car mount. I used it to track my driving habits, eventually completely forgetting about the dashcam ability. Now, after exhausting all other dashcam options, I decided to check up on what this app had been doing in the background. I was amazed by how much data had been collected in the background, then I saw the dashcam option and now I couldn't be happier! Kudos to the developers for making the best dashcam app on the playstore. Deserves a better score!

When I downloaded this, there was a server error stopping me from logging in. The team were quick to respond and fixed the error. Since I have been using this app, I can't say I can find anything I dislike about it. I plan to use this not only to prove fault in a collision, but to prove I am overall a safe driver to my insurance company, and reduce my premiums. Thanks Drivermatics!

great app for recording journeys, I've had great experiences with it. the app does insist on maximising the brightness of my screen though - which is frustrating. I'd like the option for the app to have no effect on screen brightness and leave it to me to adjust that myself, screen dimming after x time doesn't seem to do anything. Also being able to set viewing of media to video only on a permanent basis unless map is asked for would also be great, the app has to do a lot of reloading when they are both on.

I like this app but wouldn't mind is it could backup to google drive for example. Also Google Now commands don't seem to be heard while the app is running and when you move off the app mid journey, the video stop starts?? One more thing. Why does the video not understand which way up the phone is?? My damned video plays back upside down. I don't need an app forcing me to have the device a particular way up!!

Keeps on saying the journey is not recorded as there wasn't enough sample data. Looks like a great app otherwise and would love to get it working

Requires unnecessary access to friends/family and social media profiles. Also contains ads and no option to remove them.

Really liking this app so far! All of the major features work correctly but some changes could be made. 1. Give the option to save the video media to local storage so you don't have to share it to google photos or something. 2. Have the option to overlay GPS data onto the saved video. 3. How does the snapshot feature even work? Also there's a bug where some videos will be recorded in landscape or portrait, so maybe a manual selection to stop this? Thanks and keep it up!

Great quality videos and display information. One suggestion - maybe an "ICE" button could be added to the display screen to assist emergency services in locating the driver's "in case of emergency" or next of kin contact

But an issue changing application button settings i.e music phone and maps. Music i want as default to spotify but reverts to sound hound instead if i change phone to dialer reverts to the first app that begins with the letter p and same for navigation.

Great app, but doesn't allow putting videos on the external sd of my S7 Edge, any chance we can get a fix? the videos are filling my phone right up and I have a 128gb sdcard in there...thanks :)

After reading the top review on Auto Express and trying out for myself, I have now decided to use this app and not buy a separate dash cam, no need for both, the app has all you need and more. Outstanding and very well put together.

I have a S6 Edge and i can't find any recordings. Only one I've found is a 2 minute recording at the end of one journey. I have been on mutliple journeys. Screen says video is recording but i have no video's. Any ideas? Good app apart from that though

Using an Xperia Z and app does not seem to be able to access the camera, so no video or photos.

Smartphone dashcam plus. Very handy - works great. Wish for landscape/panoramic view and adjustable width view/map mode. Very handy app supprisingly free!

Can we have snoop dog voice this app and why no option for classic cars or makes that don't exist anymore

Can't save the file

If it worked and did what it's supposed to it would be a 5 but, sadly, it freezes and crashes making it an irritation. Tried 20 journeys - after less than 2 miles it had crashed each time. I'd have liked it to work.

Very good except a couple of bugbears, first is that a large part of the screen is obscured by the options and secondly is that when I play back video it says that I was doing about minus 20mph even though it was around 60mph. Sort those issues out and it will be perfect. Lots of options and quite user friendly.

Downloaded this app a few days ago onto my S5 as it looked good but am struggling with its random nature. It seems i don't have the space to air all my problems. Suffice to say, many things need fixing. I will stop using it until an update comes through just to give it a chance but I suspect it will be a goner sometime soon. PS website sucks as can't access forum to post despite activating account.

Got new phone and re-downloaded but it hasn't worked properly since. Only recording some of the footage , crashes on playback , wont upload to Youtube , looses recordings when app is closed. Used to work perfectly but now it's completely unreliable as a dashcam. Edit - deleted and tried again , sometimes works , sometimes doesn't. Downloaded a similar app which does the same job reliably.

Having tried just about every dashcam app on the market, this is about the best there is! It's intuitive, easy on the eyes and works very well! The browser interface is excellent, too. The only niggle that led to me docking a star is an apparent bug when selecting the maximum file space on external storage SD card. The options show a choice of sizes, but the largest it'll allow me to select is 4Gb, despite having much more space than that available on my card.

Nice recording, mph stopped at 27 while I was doing 60. Had difficulty with satellites, yet no other app seems to. Would be nice if these parts worked properly and after you fix that could you add an auto startup when I start to drive. Thank you alcatel one touch pop astro. I chose videoreg..

Updated comments from previous date. This app designer is serious about designing a great crash cam app, I had one problem about it and he kept me updated on my request and fixed the problem on next update I highly recommend this app I don't think there is any better.

Freezes device, sometimes doesn't record video, driving stats sometimes inaccurate like for example, my top speed says 78, but I never hit 50

This app it pretty awesome. But! The ads down the bottom enrage me and I can't seem to find a 'remove ads' payment option. I'd be happy to pay for this product if it would get rid of the ads. It just looks messy and unprofessional.

Camera does not show up. When I hit the camera button does not work.

Crashes on Samsung Note 3.

I was waiting for such an application for a long time and now when I found it, I must say it was worth a wait. A must have application for the people who spend much of the time on the road travelling from one place to another. It certainly makes me feel safer.
