Karl's Mortgage Calculator for Android
After searching for mortgage and student loan payment planners. This is the closest one I could find that actually made the correct calculations. It takes a few minutes to understand what to input but after that everything makes sense. Most apps don't let you input a start date as well as taxes, but this does. Advice to Developers: Try to come up with a way to combine multiple loans onto one page so that you can see a percentage of how close you are to paying off your debts as well as which ones to pay off first.
This app was great for the first couple of years but for some reason now even after uninstalling and reinstalling the app it won't let me change the years of the loan each time I do it wants to make changes to interest rate or principle. Strange?
UI might be slightly clunky, but it covers the basics very well. Everyone with a mortgage should use this to help manage their finances better
Does not let you input the correct information no matter what you do. Something is wrong with the program does not let you change the interest puts in whatever it wants
The app will not let me change the interest rate and there is no radio payment button to fix it like the solution below.. The app was good until the update, but now it's terrible. Please go back to the old version.
It says that it allows for variable extra payments. But after the 4th month that feature stopped working and I can't see how to contact the app for help.
Great mortgage calculator, includes expense options and can export report. I'm always running quick calculations on investment properties this serves me well
I used this up for many years - unfortunately on my new phone (Asus X008) the calculation produces errors. The payment table only shows "nan" instead of numbers. UPDATE: The author solved the problem and contacted me via email - sending me a brand new version which is working perfectly fine. Again: One of my most favourite apps! Could add a function that calculates by paying off a certain percentage of a mortgage per year, instead of only defining the years. It's a bit twisted, but this is how some countries define the parameters for their mortgages. ---> Updated to FIVE STARS!!! Thank you
Used to love this app until i can't input the interest.
Built a big real estate business using this app.
Absolutely brilliant.
Very intuitive with lots of great and useful features.
Best calculator I've found so far
Very helpful when figuring out house payment options.....
Simple, and effective.
Very good one
Easy for budget plan
Nice improvements
good
Truly terrific -- provides financial figure breakdowns in a number of ways, so can see interest + pricipal costs monthly, yearly, as a graph, and total cost for the length of the loan.
Simply great.
Best mtg calculator around, I've tried a number of different brands just to compare and always delete them as their nowhere near as fantastic as this app. You can add fixed rates and interest rate changes throughout the loan term, extra repayments, insurance payments, lump sum pmts....it's awesome
Fantastic free app, did exactly what I needed it to do when trying to figure out if I could afford mortgage payments. Not only does it give you your mortgage payment but also graphs your mortgage over the term. I cannot recommend this app enough!
Many thanks to the Professor from the North for sharing this tool "back in the day" when apps where first invented!!! Not only have I used it in my professional career of retirement planning, but I have purchased over 50 properties using this simple calculator!
Great ap but one question. During the setup to send an emailed report I clicked on the wrong email link. I would like to switch email links. Can't seem to do it even if uninstall your ap. Any thoughts?
When looking for a house, it doesn't calculate taxes or insurance, but it gives you a pretty good idea how much you will pay before those are added. I used it to calculate car payments and it was pretty darn close
Be great if the extra payments can be broken up into weeks? Or fortnightly? Thats about all id add to it.
I love that you can enter property taxes and insurance as dollar figures. If you could calculate MI too that would make this a perfect app. It would need to add the up front MI that stacks on loan amount and the monthy MI added to the monthly payment. Might be easiest to add a loan type feature so it could automatically do this.
Purchased Pro to support the developer. Would like a filter to see where you would be in x years and months. Its an extremely useful app. Thankful the developer did such a great job Thanks
Love this app except I cannot change the amount to exactly match my mortgage amount. Otherwise it's great and I use it all the time. Thanks Karl for your help with edits!
Used this app regularly and found it really helpful, just changed to a new handset and downloaded it but now all the results just return the word "NaN", I've tried redownloading but it still happens, anyway to fix this please?
Great little application. Pretty much the best of its kind. I really wish it had an offset account feature and the ability to calculate continuous compound interest, that would make it 5/5
This app is fantastic and powerful. You can calculate conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA mortgages . Only feature I can think to request would be easier switching between mortgage insurance types.
unlike the lastime its verygood this one is not good
Love using this. It helps me understand what I can afford in the way of housing.
Garbage app. Can't even calculate basic EMI
I love it, been using it for years now. Does what it says, I use it to track and adjust payments for pretty much any account that has accumulates interest.
More functions than the rest. You can manipulate all different factors
Great app that's easy to use and does exactly what you need it to do with a very simple interface

Impossible to change the interest rate or repayment amount or any other settings the app is completely worthless. If I try to change any of those it tells me that it has been calculated automatically based on the loan amount and this is probably the setting I want. Since this is not the setting I want the patronising pop-up is very very irritating.
