DoorBird for Android
This review is exclusively about the app not doorbird intercom hardware. The the app doesn't establish voice connection. You press the talk button they can't hear you and you can't hear them after that it stays in the connected mode, you can't hangup. I know the issue is from the app because my iPad works flawlessly with my doorbirds. So with Android app you can only use your doorbird as an ip security camera. This is no good.
App working almost good. I found a bug. When I using phone Samsung Galaxy S7 connected with smart watch Samsung Gear S3 over bluetooth, there is no audio link, it's not possible to hear or talk to the doorbird. When smartwatch is disconnected, everything working well. I think, the app is trying to route audio to the watch (it has microphone and speaker) without luck. Another annoying thing with doorbird is, that input for the push button cannot hold doorlock output longer than button is pressed. It will be perfect to add option, how long relay should be active when I press the button, or change it to the same time which is set, when I'm pressing lock button on my smartphone..
I have missed many callers with this app and the Doorbird. It often takes 10 to 20 seconds to connect by which time the caller has gone. The Doorbird chime relay is also connected to a home automation system (Homeseer). Push notifications from HomeSeer using Pushover arrive almost instantly on the same phone as the Doorbird app. Doorbird app rings between 5 and 10 seconds after the push notification. Same local network and LTE....so the delay is a Doorbird problem, not a networking issue. They need to have cloud servers all around the world. And since the most recent update I no longer have any audio, which I think is due to the app trying to route audio to a Bluetooth smart watch (Galaxy Gear S3). Not that good considering the price of the Doorbird.
Newest update installed July 13th on Android refuses to contact my doorbird that is hard wired via Ethernet.
Rings often 2 hours late then scares the children as there is no one there in the dark?
Latest update installed today. Seems to work although some of the new symbols seem unintuitive. However I pushed the symbol of a lightbulb, and the image went black and white, now I cannot return to colour mode! * Was this version tested on real people, in real scenario, before release? First version I had clearly hadn't been put in the real world - the movement detection could not differentiate between a passing bus at 25m distance and a person walking up to the door. They might have fixed that by now but their communications aren't exactly forthcoming. Given I've effectively paid for a lifetime support I'd expect more frequent product development notification. Does the product work? Yes. Does the client end work - Sometimes. That's down to wifi and mobile networks but the buyer must be aware of that. Would I recommend it? Depends very much on your circumstances, equipment, expectation, and willingness to live with intermittent functionality. I still use it, because I've got it and paid for it. But it's not the silver bullet despite the price. Last week I missed an important visitor because Iwas on the phone when they pressed the the intercom and I didn't get any clue. 3 out of 5 is fair I think. * Update - relaunch the app and colour returns. But why not simply make the click button an on/off toggle?
Working better now, if continue that way will give 5 stars
Application switches from Bluetooth headphones (when phone is on call) to phone speaker at application start. This is not very user-friendly. Motorola Droid Turbo (Android 6.0.1)
Works great, I don't get why so many bad reviews, I think it's all about how is installed; if you have problems with WiFi of course you will have problem with this system, you should go with wire connection, I have succesfully integrated lots of this doorbirds to QNAP, HIKVISION, LTS, and many other NVRs.
I use the app on my tablet which is on the wall in landscape position at all times since the upgrade the "Push to Talk" button is not available. So I have to take it off the wall hold it upright in portrait position and only then the button appears. Complete cock up of the new upgrade. Not good software!
Just installed a D202 doorbird. I must admit that I am very happy with both the app and the actual product. Both are well designed and consistent. Now I look forward to integrate with my ecosystem. Is there a way to store data to FTP?
Doorbell not ringing nor notifying me anymore since last update, not doing what it's intended for, Not Happy
Was OK when I first had it, then since the update yesterday when someone rings the bell it doesn't notify me on my phone anymore!!
Motion sensor at latest update is not working right. Some movements are not registered at all. Some have problems uploading...
For a very expensive unit I expected much better software. Ive gone though a few different video door bells. The biggest issue is when Bell is pushed your phone will make one tiny little bird chirp noise, then stop. 99% of the time u won't here it. It won't continue to ring like most other units. Which defeats the whole purpose of having it. There no option for different ringers, just a little bird chirp.
the device is great i love it. there is one issue when i click to save image from the app. it says that the image was saved but can't find it on android. (i found the image thank you for your reply)
Firstly had this for over a year and a half so I can give a fairly good assessment of the app and doorbell. It's expensive for what it is, you get a poor app, difficult install, lack of face plates, poor support, poor quality ( surprising from Germany ), poor wifi connection ( even when the router is 10feet away at 50db ) and the silly auto update, which turned my doorbird into a dumbbird. It's power transformer failed after one year and the bell connection pulled off on install. Oh and the expensive faceplate started to peel in a heatwave last week. Apart from that it's good video is above average sound is ok, 4g connection is average and it has free nas backup with Synology which is excellent.....oh that failed on update as well. BEST to avoid. Cheaper option with the Ring.
Works fine so far for main features. However the 3d motion feature does not work perfectly e.g. deactivation does not work properly with android os
The video in the app seems to be intermittent. When I open the app sometimes it won't provide video. Super bummed.
Update: cloud server issue fixed. Works like a charm again. Doesn't work on 4g after last update. Does work on WiFi.
The New App update does not work with 4G connectivity... please fix this
Video not as fluid as suggested on website even when connected via Ethernet cable. Notifications sometimes delayed and app layout and settings confusion. This system has potential but needs work and refinements.
Does what it is supposed to do. However big drawback, when already in a phone call, the notification will not be heard on the phone when someone rings.
The app needs more work...video and audio are jittery even with a gigabit up and down network connection that shows "good" for status in the app.
The new update looks good, but where is the support for the birdguard siren output?
good app
3 -> 4 stars. Significant app improvements with last update. Remote access works now. Starting to add adjustments for camera. * Limited functionality. Cant override ir or do any camera / IR tuning for local conditions. cant access system remotely without wifi. No texting capability. Video & pictures are local to the device not sent to mobile device. Same issues with motion detection. The hardware on this thing seems to be top notch - a lot of functional potential. I hope they invest in software devlopment.
Motion sensor is extremely irritating. mine is set off at the same time every day by a combination of both low sun and wind moving a conifer tree. When I contacted Doorbird they said it didn't happen. Also the intercom does not like to work first time. Finally I would like to have some way of adjusting the volume at both the intercom and on the phone, quite often visitors can ' place we're the voice is coming from and it's awkward operating the speak button while holding the phone tightly to your ear.
Good product. A little expensive. Was hoping I could use it on Android TV, Nexus Player, Nvidia Sheild, etc. Imagine watching TV and then the doorbell rings and a notification / image comes up that someone is at the door and to click to bring up video!
It does not work as described, the quality of connection is very bad despite the bandwidth is above the average, AVOID !!!
Great video and voice clarity. Connection speed very. Would be nice to able to adjust motion sensitivity though.
Add backup to google drive.
The GUI of this app is really bad compared to its competition such as Ring. The motion sensor is way too sensitive so it becomes basically a useless feature unless you want your phone to notify you every 5 minutes. They need to add the ability to select grid zones as well as adjust the motion sensitivity. Doorbell is quicker than Ring, meaning less lag time. Update: motion sensor still gives a lot of false alarms. I really don't understand why DoorBird won't hire a top notch software development team. T
Not very stable.
Update fixte alles.
Seit 5 Wochen warten, gestern die Info dass es nochmals 4-5 Wochen dauern soll. Wird wohl August !

Now it looks like doorbird is pulling bad reviews off the app site. Google won't show latest.
