Gauging Rivers for Android
***Because this is a widget, be sure to look in the widget section of your app drawer after installing it, not the app section. See this article for examples of adding widgets: http://www.beginandroid.com/addwidgets.shtml ***
Watch the gauges on your favorite USGS-monitored rivers!
Start by configuring the widget by selecting the specific USGS river gauges you care about. Then, set a maximum height and flow value for the group of river sites you selected. When the actual height or flow of a gauge that you select exceeds your limit, that river’s name will be highlighted in red, and if the flow and height are below your threshold, the site’s name will show green. River icing conditions will be indicated with blue text.
The widget updates its data from the USGS once an hour (but some gauges’ data are updated less frequently). The widget displays the last reading time and whether the height and flow are trending up, down, or are unchanged.
You can add multiple Gauging Rivers widgets to your home screen, for example: if you want to track gauges in groups for multiple specific rivers.
If you wish to visit the USGS website for a particular gauge, from the widget, simply flip to that gauge in the widget, and click on it, and you will be taken to the gauge’s website.
A full list of the river sites available in Gauging Rivers is available here:

Note: This widget relies on web service data from the USGS, and if the USGS services are down or sending incorrect data, those issues will be reflected in the widget’s data. If a valid reading for a particular gauge has not been collected in the last 12 hours, that site’s name will be shown in grey.
Can't size widget
Great alternative to river flows. Set up multiple gages for instant data on your home screen. Need more data? Just click the widget and your at the usgs site for hydrograph customization.

Haven't played with it much yet, but looks very useful. I live near a flood plain. No Problem in 21 years, but puts your mind at ease monitoring it! I may bump up rating soon?
