กรมทางหลวง โดยสำนักบริหารบำรุงทางได้ดำเนินการพัฒนา “ระบบบริหารงานอุทกภัย” เมื่อปี พ.ศ.2551 โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์โครงการ เพื่อจัดทำระบบสารสนเทศภูมิศาสตร์ สำหรับการรายงานและติดตามสถานการณ์อุทกภัย การวิเคราะห์และสรุปผลข้อมูลทางสถิติของข้อมูลระดับน้ำ ตลอดจนการสรุปความเสียหายของทางหลวง
อันเนื่องมาจากการเกิดอุทกภัย โดยรายงานจากหน่วยงานส่วนภูมิภาคมายังหน่วยงานส่วนกลางผ่านเครือข่ายอินเตอร์เน็ต นอกจากนี้ยังมีส่วนที่พัฒนาขึ้นเพื่อสนับสนุนการบริหารงานอุทกภัยให้ดำเนินการได้อย่างทันต่อเหตุการณ์ ประกอบด้วย การประมาณงบประมาณที่ต้องใช้เบื้องต้น สำหรับกิจกรรมแก้ไขปัญหาภัยพิบัติ
